  1. I have updated my notes. Thanks, punk.
  2. No, I think you’re mixing that up with something you saw on pay per view.

    What's Cooking?

Came up with is dish tonight: two slices of bread, lightly buttered on one side. Put some sliced Muenster cheese and deli ham between the slices of bread with the buttered side out. Then, toast in a skillet on low heat until the bread is golden brown on each side and the cheese is melted. Cut on a 22-1/2 degree angle. If that’s not crazy enough, I added a skim coat of blackberry jam on one side. Need a name for this. Thinking ‘Grilled Monte Cheeseco’
  4. May I suggest everyone stop? Here’s a cure: Watch 2 or 3 episodes of “Leave It to a Beaver” and see how real life problems are solved 😄 I’m currently enjoying the episode where Mrs. Landers comes to dinner and Larry, Whitey and Gilbert spy on them from a tree. I won’t spoil it, but it’s some pretty good stuff and everybody’s happy by the time the credits roll. Seriously, nobody’s gonna win this argument. The only question is who will be the bigger a##hole. And that’s not a contest you want to win. Walk away.
  5. Looks and sounds like a great trip. On my bucket list for sure. Fish and drink sound good. How about the food?

    What's Cooking?

Reminds me of a dish a buddy used to prepare on camping trips when we were younger. Affectionately called ‘Mike’s Taters and Sh*t’. 😄

    What's Cooking?

I’ve never bought skirt steak. Seems like it’s always got some grey fat running through it. Don’t mind fat, but the grey kinda turns me off. Really only checked it out a few times. May be a quirk. Love flank steak medium rare. One of the most flavorful cuts of beef I think.

    What's Cooking?

Been pretty dull food wise here. Last night whipped up some stuffed mushrooms. Stems, onion sautéed. Added panko, Parmesan cheese, cream cheese and crab meat. Pretty good but not great. Made pizza dough yesterday then cooked them today on the Weber with the KettlePizza attachment.
  9. I was thinking the same thing. 😄
  10. Congrats dad! How old is this girl and is she single? ness 2.2 and 2.3 are early 20s, single, handsome, and come from good stock (obviously). 2.2 is wrapping up a degree in film this year. He has earned some accolades and has an IMDB entry too. This looks to be our best bet for a match. 2.3 is a bit of a renaissance man with credentials in banking, hip-hop, landscaping, life guarding, carpentry, athletics and baking/food prep. He certainly deserves some consideration too. How long are you in town?

    What's Cooking?

Will travel for Cherokee Purples. I could bring some KC grass fed tilapia to trade. 😄

    What's Cooking?

Can’t do raw green peppers either. Or cucumbers, like you had in your salad earlier. Other than that, I’m all in 😄😄

    What's Cooking?

Yeah — one of the great things about summer. This wasn’t grown by me — came from the CSA I belong to. Ate three ears with dinner and there are three more that I’m resisting tonight.

    What's Cooking?

Swai filet, yellow squash and onion, sweet corn. And, dayum, the corn is good this time!!
  15. I enjoy popper making, though I don't do it often. I'm not looking to crank out the cheapest, fastest popper -- I like the craftsmanship aspect. I like the Perfect Poppers as a starting point. When I first did them I used Testors model spray paint and glue on eyes. I now use an airbrush and 30-minute epoxy to seal them (Devcon). Since BilletHead introduced me to stippling, I've gone to that method for adding eyes and spots for a really appealing look. For me -- the fish can't see much if any of it. Lots to read through, but the recent bass fly swap thread has some good flies including poppers and some discussion of technique and materials. Here's the BilletHead step-by-step thread, if you want to make poppers the way the native Americans did 600 years ago

    2018 Garden Thread

Out of town but left behind a pool-ball-sized one that was pretty close. Saw some great looking ‘Amish-grown’ maters up here in IA. Tempting but I couldn’t carry them for another two days. Looking forward to some home grown soon!!

  19. Yeah, I see this type of stuff on my phone or iPad, never on a desktop. Don’t click on anything to get it to launch, just seem to scroll down and it takes over. It’s a pain in the butt.
  20. Me too. Stinks.
  21. Four times tonight I’ve gotten this type stuff when scrolling through a topic. Anybody else getting it and/or know how to prevent it?

    Lyric's heard wrong

And -- the barber on Penny Lane. That was pretty fun. I was smiling the whole time too, except when he talked about his mum. Then I got a lump in me throat. Dad's recommendation: 'She loves you yes, yes, yes'

    Lyric's heard wrong

Yeah -- that's written/sung by John. Almost all their songs were attributed to Lennon/McCartney because of an early agreement between John and Paul to do it that way. But, you can tell whose song it is by who's singing. And, the really weird ones are almost always John's and the fun ones are usually Paul's. Example with two songs about places in Liverpool: Strawberry Fields -- John, Penny Lane -- Paul.

    Lyric's heard wrong

Yeah, people like different things. I didn't care a lick about them when they were together -- I was just too young. But, I grew to really like them in the 80's, though certainly not all their stuff because some of it is just plain weird. It's hard to deny their impact on culture and music though, and it has stood the test of time. They are the biggest selling artists of all time, and have the most #1 hits too. I just saw this the other day and I think it's pretty fun and cool too.
