  1. Sounds like a good trip. I really like that second picture.
  2. I wouldn't, but we've already been over that. So, yes. The only thing better than a $27 lure is two of 'em.
  3. Yeah -- what F&F said. There are other settings too -- on the left side and down a little.
  4. Thanks for the clarification, Champ. I did not mean for it to be condescending, but I can see how it could come across that way. As to blowing into the bass forum and acting up, heck I never know which forum I'm in. I just hit "view new content". I'm an equal opportunity smart a$$.
  5. Of course. Or don't spend it as you see fit. Some folks on here are a little touchy. There's a difference between "I wouldn't buy that" and "You shouldn't buy that." And disrespecting the Wooley Bugger -- well, that's just wrong.
  6. I just got off the phone with a guy that I've known since 1990. Doing some quick math after looking at the screen, he's worth a minimum of $92 million (he's up $2.4 million for the day). He has a multimillion-dollar condo on the Plaza and another home on the beach in South Carolina. He's got an Audi 6 and a Porsche 911 Carrera convertible here in KC. Wifey's got a Land Rover and a Jag -- I never asked what they've got on the coast. They don't drive out there -- they just take the jet he's got a share in. Two of the nicest folks you'd ever meet, and if you didn't know him you'd never know what he's worth. And I still won't buy a $25 lure anytime soon.
  7. Yeah -- she was a little too obvious on that one. I'm sure you gave her the standard reply? I may take you up on the offer. I scribbled down some notes, but you got a little fuzzy on the names towards the end
  8. Eh, don't be so hard on them. They're just overcompensating, you know?
  9. Wow! Very nice write up on a real adventure.
  10. DeLorme Wyoming atlas arrived today....
  11. I was just rearranging my tackle box last weekend and started thinking crappie. I've got jigs, floats, bottom bouncers, etc that I haven't fished in years. No good reason, just haven't done it.
  12. Ah, read carefully boys. I just said 'nope' and you all took it from there. Champ it looks like you're sporting for an argument. Not gonna get one here.
  13. To each his own, for sure. So, are you saying you're loading up on these at $27? Or even $23? Or the alternative at $14? I just can't imagine spending that on a single lure, much less a bunch of them. I guess I see them as an overpriced re-tread of old ideas. But what do I know? Now, as to wooly buggers -- I didn't mention them, so I'm sensing a little prejudice against fly fishermen. Am I right, and if so, why?
  14. My 3 plants are in a fairly tight location. I do prune to keep them in check size-wise. And, you're sposta prune out the year old canes that produced fruit this year -- makes room for new canes for next year.
  15. Pink may work, but I don't do pink.
  16. Oh, man. I really, really love the small streams. Up close and personal is a lot of fun. Again -- the fish change colors. Some gorgeous ones in the last couple sets. The stream through the valley reminds me of a place I fished in NM a few years back.
  17. Great trip report Marty. I've been flipping back and forth between google maps following your journey. Interesting the different colorations and shapes on the fish. Some were really chunky, then the long skinny one with hardly any spots, silvery one. Maybe some cuttbows?
  18. That's a great plan. Excellent way to teach responsibility.
  19. I had a dog and his name was BINGO!
  20. Guys -- like it or not, it's all subjective. And you guys squaring off in one camp or another ought to consider that there are likely multiple causes. That's just the way the world works. Poachers, otters, changing habitat, non-poachers, drought, chemical runoff, gravel mining, invasive species, giggers, bow fishermen, spear gun fishermen, grabbers, food availability, jet boats, expensive lures tossed by even more expensive rods, widely available information how and where to fish, meth (enables round-the-clock fishing), real unemployment, and the dreaded 'locals'. The only thing that surprises me is that there are any fish anywhere.
  21. Survey results .... sounds like data. I wonder how much there is and how good it is.
  22. Supporting data? Other than the guy in the picture?
