  1. Maybe get a bunch of brochures for assisted living facilities and just leave them laying around the house?
  2. Here's a short story for ye: Once upon a time a guy grumbled about his in-laws on the internet. He assumed his wife would never see it, but she did. The end (of you-know-what).

    What's Cooking?

A few recent ones. Ordered by one of the nesslings, a throwback, Hamburger Helper (with hamburger, even though it does fine by itself ) Shrimp cocktail for dinner, why not? Pulled pork sliders with slaw, baked beans and tater salad with Ruby pondering the future... Potato soup with a little bacon crumbled over. Wifey added cheese too.

  6. Another click-bait gem that made me LOL
  7. Which one?? I'll fire her!
  8. Yeah, I try not to make too big a deal out of this place, but sometimes it just slips out.
  9. I'll mention this again. When I have a very weak wi-fi signal, like when I go upstairs and I'm still connected to the downstairs router, I will get that same error message. I can make it go away by (a) turning off wi-fi and using cell service or (2) switching to my upstairs wi-fi repeater (same wi-fi, stronger signal). I use iPhone and iMac both with Safari. I'm not a tech guy at all, and it doesn't make any sense to me, but maybe this will help in some way.
  10. Ran into more Gary Mule Deer last night
  11. Car seat anyone?
  12. I saw that one shoe on the highway. I always wondered what the story was 😄
  13. Had to look that one up. Remembered the story once I read it. Here's a link for the good of the order: https://gardenandgun.com/feature/the-legend-of-bo-whoop/ I've had De Shootenist Gent'man on my Amazon wish list forever. It's now on the way.
  14. Again, they've been reading OAF
  15. Saw this in another forum and thought I'd start it here. Me: Fly rods. I think 4 of them over the years. Two came out ok, one I never found and one I ran over when I went back to look for it in the dark. Also my beloved HP financial calculator. I heard it bounce off the roof and saw it cartwheeling down the road in my rear view. Some scratches but I used that thing for about 20 more years before it died. Now I have an app on my phone that looks and works just like it. HP 17B II with RPN. Left my wallet on the bumper once. Rode around back there for an hour or so before I remembered. So, what about you?

    What's Cooking?

These strips were good and right at 1-1/2 inches: With roasted taters and a loaf of ho’made sourdough

    What's Cooking?

Not a huge filet fan -- I think I've had more bad ones than good ones. But -- the best steak I've ever eaten was this filet: I only got a couple bites, because it was my wife's meal, dang it. It was a filet that was wrapped in bacon with bay leaves between. They'd also done something with rosemary. Not strongly herbal, but just enough to enhance the beefy flavor. This wasn't very thick -- maybe 1-½ inches to start. And those potatoes were outstanding. I don't remember what I had for dinner that night

Can't give you number, but I know it when I see it
  20. I love fly fishing for trout in small streams in beautiful locations, particularly the mountain west. There's the clean air, the smell of the pines, and just being right there in the middle of it all. The silence, but for sound of the water. I really enjoy reading the water, strategizing the approach, figuring out the current, and getting a fly in the right spot with that perfect drift. I get real satisfaction out of handling a tricky setup well and fooling a fish. It's always best when it happens on top, but getting a nymph down deep into an impossible spot and getting one out is great too. I also love walking a field with my two Brittanys watching them do what they've been bred and trained to do. It's a real thrill to see them snap to a halt and freeze up on a bird. It's also a thrill (sometimes a heart-stopper) to flush a bird, then make the shot and watch a good retrieve afterwards. Much of my enjoyment comes from the anticipation and planning of a trip to a new place. Once there, I like to spend some time getting to know the place -- which is always more than just where to fish or hunt. I like talking to the locals, listening to what they've got to say abut the area, finding the best place to eat, etc. It's always about the total experience for me and whoever I'm with.
  21. Just kidding, BTW! Those are some great fish!! Not really pi$$ed but jealous.
  22. I think I can speak for a lot of us: This kind of success pi$$es a lot of us off!
