  1. This may help, at least in KC. -- our traffic reporting system https://www.kcscout.net Click on the "Cameras" box to see their locations, then click on the blue camera icon to see a live shot.
  2. Scooped part of the drive and the walk twice yesterday. The missus is out there this morning taking off about another 2-3 inches. The official event total at KCI is 11 inches. It is windy enuff around here that it's drifted and there's a pretty wide range of depths, but 11 is probably close for us. The city pretreated Saturday night, but the plows haven't made it here yet. Don't care -- not going anywhere. 8 degrees here right now.
  3. Same here, and about the same numbers. Kinda hard to tell the total because it’s blowing and snowing About ¼ inch of ice under it, but we pretreated the sidewalk and drive. Lots of traffic problems around town.

  5. I heard it’s sposta snow.
  6. I remember you telling the story of that trek to catch Greenbacks. Beautiful area!!
  7. There was a guy on here years back, Kyle Kosovich (sp?), that built some long boats and tried to make a go of it doing similar trips. I did find a website, but it looks to be inactive. http://www.longboatoutfitters.com. I always thought those boats looked pretty cool.
  8. I haven’t bought or test-casted enough rods to confirm this, but I suspect there aren’t any modern fly rods from name manufacturers that are so bad as to impede the fishing of a competent caster. I’ve fished with a lot of different rods, some mine, some borrowed, and some are definitely better than others. But I can generally adjust my cast to get the job done. Way back when I bought a bamboo blank and finished it with really pretty hardware. It’s a beauty, but I ought to just hang it on the wall because it’s not pleasant to cast. But I have fished it with success. I guess if that’s all I had that’s what I’d fish.

    What's Cooking?

Wow! Nicely done! It’s fun to explore new things. We’re actually taking a Thai cooking class next month with my daughter and son-in-law. This is going to be a new cooking experience for the four of us. Wifey and I haven't had a lot of Thai food.

    What's Cooking?

Christmas Eve dinner. Baby brother smoked a bone-in pork loin (dang), family favorite cheesy potatoes, bourbon maple glazed carrots, etc. Appetizers galore including cheese fondue down there on the end. Some of the goodies. Shortbread Brie with Marty’s honey Limited edition fruitcakes for family and friends that appreciate it (insert tired fruitcakes jokes if you must, but this ain’t that) Cookie exchange at our house a couple days before ensured we have way too much and will need to regift or pitch. No pics.
  11. Many years back I was fishing and put the fly into tree. I walked over to the branch and pulled it down towards me. Got the fly down to me and noticed a spider coming down the branch, so I let go. The little hook sunk into my index finger and the spider was still coming down. I pulled back down, ripped the hook out and let the branch snap up. That sent the spider straight up and then he came back down somewhere on me. FUDGE, only I didn’t say fudge. I did the dance and started taking stuff off but never did find him. The whole rest of the day I was haunted by phantom spiders.
  12. When you wait until the last minute to buy your wife a Christmas card: Li’l help?

    What's Cooking?

I saw something the other day that was new to me: choice beef tenderloins and whole briskets at Walmart wrapped with a cable and with an anti-theft thingy.
  15. Tastes like chicken!
  16. The guy shot it walking away, called the sheriff’s office to report it and ask what to do, they called MDC, he was read his Miranda rights, admitted to what he did, signed a written statement and now he’s got a misdemeanor charge and got his weapon confiscated. I’m not sure when the whole Facebook thing happened along the way, but it doesn’t seem to be a factor or evidence in the legal case against him. Sounds like the guy didn’t know what he did was illegal and has cooperated.

One of my favorite cuts. Good, beefy flavor.

    What's Cooking?

Looks to be heavily seasoned with cracked pepper and maybe more. Nice!
  19. I’ve had good luck with Madison River Fishing Co. I was looking at them today to see what they’re up to, and ended up buying a fly rod that I had been eyeing that was now on sale.
  20. Yup. And, fly fishing catalogs have dried up. I used get them from Marriott's, Dan Bailey, Feathercraft, K&K, Cabela's, LL Bean, Orvis, Madison River Fishing Co., other's I'm sure I'm not thinking of. I read the other day Orvis is stopping all catalogs going forward. Are Hargrove's and Feathercraft doing OK as far as you know?
  21. What a knucklehead, on multiple occasions.
  22. Tim has a great shop! Good guy too.
  23. @Ryan Miloshewski Have you ever been to Rainbow Fly Shop in Independence? Seems like they’ve been around for years but I’ve never heard a word about them.
  24. Makes you turn to online, and Bass Pro ain’t the answer.
  25. Yup. That’s a great shop. Too bad it couldn’t have continued after Kevin’s retirement.
