  1. Nice fish, sweet ride and PBR. What a day!
  2. JoeD -- I think you should self-limit your late-night posting BilletHead -- sounds like you got some bad info, but did the right thing in trying to help out the guy that bought the boat from you. Live and learn; onward and upward.

    Ouch

Yeah, and the Big 12 didn't fold up. Al -- I think the money was the icing and the cake. I can't imagine the money was just a happy accident out of Mizzou's search for stability. I think this trend will continue. And, as teams scatter they'll destroy the great traditions and rivalries at the expense of the fans and lesser sports. A lot of the things that are great about sports -- the touchy-feely ones -- will be lost. They're not something money can buy. Saw this commercial today and thought it was good: http://youtu.be/A63XjuA8u3U

Geez -- You think a convoy of fans are gonna tootle down to Gainesville just because it's warm and the girls are tanned? What about the cost and time involved with all that travel? How many Vanderbilt, Alabama, Florida or Georgia grads do you run into, much less talk smack with, in St. Louis? There are great football traditions all across the country. It's a stretch to say the SEC has the best tailgating and biggest crowds. Rivalries are built over time. You're starting from scratch. Nothing wrong with being excited, but dang...
  5. Dear JoeD, I like the first one best. I like the first one best. I like the first one best.
  6. Heck, I'm just sayin' -- I'm not going anywhere. I'm a huge fan of man's messing with stuff when it makes me happy. I'm glad we've got rainbow trout, brown trout and pheasants around for my amusement. And when the fishing's slow, watching otters messing around ain't too bad
  7. ...but, we're always tinkering with things and don't always get it right. We have jacked up the balance of things to the point that the only way to get them back would be if all the homo sapiens packed up their stuff and moved away for a couple thousand years.
  8. BTW, I got some of the permetherin (Sawyer's at WallyWorld) that was suggested by BilletHead and made me a set of mushroom hunting duds. Nylon pants and long-sleeved shirt, socks and ballcap all wetted down then dried. 100% DEET on hands, neck, etc. Shirt and pant legs tucked in. Nary a tich or chigger.
  9. Found these down by the Missouri River this morning: ....more specifically, and I'm happy to share the exact location, at the City Market. Ca-ching!

    Petrino Out?!

I think that girl's got some 'splaining to do too.
  11. Gavin's right about the 'big' polluters. It's not the MDC's area to police. Isn't that DNR or even EPA or both? You can't count on self-policing. On the other hand, you can take regs too far or enact bad ones. It's always a balancing act, and it's not always balancing just right.
  12. I bought an Orvis Battenkill many moons ago, and I have just stuck with them. They meet all the criteria Fishinwretch set out, though I can't tell if the knob is gay or not. They're metal, have a.... This just in: I just checked (figured I'd give you a link) and it appears they have discontinued the old-time Battenkills I was going to recommend. I do have one of their Access reels (which used to be called a Battenkill something or other) and like it very well. But it's fairly new and doesn't have a lot of turns on it. Some other things to think about: Size -- be sure to get one sized for a 5-weight line, which can include 4, 5 or 6. Obvious I know, but figgered I'd mention it anyway. Material -- I'd go with a metal, preferably adonized not painted. Less likely to get dinged up. Drag -- it's really not of major importance, but do make sure it's adjustable and of sturdy build. Disc drag or click and pawl both get the job done. The clicks don't bother me like they do some. When I'm in a big fight, I'm usually palming the reel anyway. Backing -- get the backing on there to the proper depth. Not for the huge 200 yard runs you'll encounter, but to get the build up beneath the line so that together they just fill the spool. That'll make for fewer and smoother cranks when you're reeling in.
  13. Hey Prestone, welcome to the forum. Lots of good folks on here and tons of information. Ask away!

    Petrino

Sign seen at the rally: "What's wrong with scoring in the off season?"
  15. Did anybody get a screen shot of Dallas' first post? I am late to the party -- it's not the first time, BTW.
  16. Came across this weather website. It's pretty cool for looking at the weather in comparison to averages, etc. Very good data and very customizable: http://weatherspark.com
  17. Your statement in #1 is materially different than #5, and on it's own incorrect. I don't care enough about it to research, but typically any profit from the sale of a primary residence that is reinvested in a primary residence isn't considered taxable. Is that out the window with this new crap?
  18. You need a new banker/mortgage guy.
  19. I really was just trying to be funny about vacating the win. Yeah, Calipari's left a lot of wreckage behind but he's got no rap sheet as far as I know. I can't fault the one-and-dones for running to the NBA. If you stay you end up with what...a University of Kentucky education, that's what! Why wait a couple more years for the big-azz house, jewelry and cars? Plus, the hottest-of-the-hot babes just won't have you until that contract is signed. You have to settle for just hot. Fast forward 15 years: your 'investments' have gone south (who knew you could lose money in the restaurant business?), your two (still very hot) ex-wives cashed out at the top, and there's a bunch of spoiled kids that can't function in society without daddy's cash. Friends don't seem to like you as much as before. You've had to downsize the house (it was the bank's idea), and your Bentley (the only one that didn't get repoed) is burning oil. Your knees hurt all the time. I guess I can see why they'd do it.
  20. Man, that was a fun game to watch. There were a lot of tie-ups and hard fowls. I kept thinking somebody's gonna lose it and throw an elbow or take a swing, but it didn't happen. That shows good discipline on both sides. I'm glad the refs let them play. Hawks really turned the momentum second half, and had it withing range. There's no quit in those boys. Anybody else hear Nance say 'the game is over' at around 8:00?
  21. Even if we lose, there's a decent chance UK's win will get vacated. No specifics, just looking at the history. Calipari's always just one step ahead of the law. Now I gotta go study up on Bruce Weber.
  22. Dayum!
