  1. No Coosa keep them coming. They are my favorite fish to catch on the fly rod. You boys did good and I am happy for you. Go back and repeat. Make a log book. Discover a pattern. Repeat year after year in same conditions. Again well done gentlemen, BilletHead Ham I never did hear the broken rod story. Will have Richard tell the story and then have you tell the story and compare. Now don't you two get the same story going or I know you guys have been collaborating, Marty

    What's Cooking?

From way back RPS my ancestors were hunter gatherers. Must of had a little farming culture in there too. It is nice where I live to have some control in what I put into my big mouth. I look outside and see groceries everywhere. I will pass on the armadillos and opossums but pass the muskrat. Yes I have eaten them and they are pretty tasty. No access to them now unless I want to trap again. I realize I cannot live totally off the land. Like my AC and heat . Again just fortunate to be where I am at. Nice boat too RPS. Did you score on the walleye in that new rig? Need to meet you someday and give you a jar of goose fat for your cooking, BilletHead

Nice Johnsfolly, We sliced the olives into slivers. Did not notice the briny taste at all. Looks good. I thought Borage was Natasha's boyfriend on the Bullwinkle and Rocky cartoon? Oh boy I'm dating myself there. Need to look up borage. Never heard of that. BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

Them boiled crawfish look mighty tasty Gavin as well as your fajitas Ness, We are trying to stay awake too Ness. I know we had steak on our pizza yesterday but it was steak again today. Yesterdays was free but today was bought. Hy-vee choice cut ribeye. Not too thick and in my opinion needs a bit more fat content. I like them thick and fatty. No we don't eat steak much. Maybe once every couple of months on average. It was good though. We did a foil wrapped onion that was stuffed with minced garlic, S&P on it too. Steamed baby carrots with some of yesterdays leftover herbed balsamic reduction drizzled on them. Cukes and onions, sliced Black Krims from the garden. A cold one to wash it all down. I ate all of this but a couple of bites of my whole onion. The Balsamic reduction kind of warmed up and ran under the steak and onion. Didn't matter just mopped it up . Getting sleepy, eyes barely open now, Had dessert going on the same grill as the onion. Some apples (Pink Lady) cored and in foil. Added brown sugar, butter, cinnamon and a bunch of chopped Missouri native pecans. After it cooled when the plate above was finished took a peek in the foil pack. Big sniff, smelled like a hot cinnamon roll. Split one apples worth with the Mrs. Oh My it was great. Might have to have a whole one later. Picture of that may be coming too, BilletHead Ok here is the desert. Baked apple on the grill. BilletHead
  5. Thanks Mitch, Got to wear a hat like that to keep my pea brain from boiling this time of the year, BilletHead
  6. Johnsfolly I hope you get some rain and some mushrooms. Dry as a popcorn fart here. Don't think we will have a crop unless we get some. I see some thunder storm cells tracking across I 70 on radar. Is this what you may get? Ness they are very tasty bud. Turn south from work for tomatoes. BilletHead

  8. Yes poor, poor us for having to grow our own. Bought a couple from the local farmers market yesterday thinking they looked good. Perfect looking ,I am thinking hot house or shipped in. Did a taste test side by side to our ugly home grown. Farmers market maters tasted bad. Wanted to say tasted like crap but don't know what crap tastes like. I imagine though like farmers market tomatoes. Just got in from picking cucumbers. Pretty tough grocery shopping in the front yard . BilletHead
  9. What are you asking Wrench for him to do the selfie in his swimsuit? Like your hat Champion :). BilletHead has to wear a hat in the sun to keep his head from burning, Speaking of a dork and his hat check this out, BilletHead .
  10. Depends on the size I make you. I would go with a 7 or 8 weight on up. They look bulky but on the pick up shed water real well. BilletHead
  11. You know what Ham? I think of you every time I hit the clicker now, Well Curt too because he bought me my clicker. Oh yes he forgot he gave me one, then gave me another. Pat is now the owner of that clicker now. Just two clicks today :). BilletHead

  14. Two that smashed the fry on top. No other hits. Fun morning with Mrs. BilletHead. She just watched not even stringing up her fly rod. The bass weighed four pounds and the hybrid close to six pounds. Same spot last week missed six on top and hooked two just to have them unbutton themselves before landing them. Got a question for you all. What makes your fishing trip? Quantity, quality or otherwise? I have discussed this with one of my fishing buddies. To get to these fish is a long ride. Would it be worth doing this for two fish? Up this morning at 3:30, then a 45 minute ride to the launch, another 35 minutes to the spot. Got to be there early. Back home at 10:30 AM. To me yes well worth the trip. Bummed a bit none landed last week but it is the process of catching or not catching I love and what you see running in the early morning going to the spot. Had an eagle fly right above out heads and land in a tree thirty feet away. Gave us the stink eye like what are you doing fishing in my hole? BilletHead

Pretty good one there John. Pretty good suction on those hot coals. That is one magical cooker. Could those steaks not weigh much? Perhaps the Chief is cooking light nowadays . BilletHead

    What's Cooking?

Decided to cook today. Started off with a snack as the steak was thawing. Caprese salad and part of it had our first tomatoes of the year, Pallet temporary satisfied got to thinking about the mail course. You guys and your pizzas made me want to do just that. Decided to do a grilled steak and blue cheese pizza. Started off grilling the steak. These were gifted club steaks from a neighbor that raises beef. I thought am I really going to put this good looking beef on a pizza? I took a bite while the Mrs. was slicing the meat. This is good stuff but going on the pie! Now I know you guys are going to chastise me for no homemade crust. Yep brought out of a cardboard can from the cold section. Hey baby steps fellows. Threw the dough on the grill for a half bake on one side, When one side was golden brought in to flip and dress the browned side. While the Mrs. did just that I did another crust. Brought in crust number two, slid it off and number one dressed hit the grill for the final cook, brown and melt the cheese! In with this and repeat with the second. Yowza, pretty good eats! 18. Well picked our first two ripe tomatoes, smallish but our first. They tasted so good. Also did our first pickles. Yep first time. They are not processed but just put in the fridge. Sour dills. Put one of this years jalapenos in the jar too. A few days then the taste test, BilletHead
