  1. I would say fishing is pretty tough down here right now. BFL had plenty of good sticks scratching there heads including some of our own local guys. Saw a lot of 1 and 2 fish bags brought to the scales.
  2. went out tonight from 5 to 7 and only boated one keeper about 3 lb with no shorts
  3. I think regatta permit for 160 boats, Alhonna tourney this weekend also with probably 40 to 60 boats. This is a big lake but I would bet you will have company in Indian creek
  4. Yes it is the 3 day regional, Thursday thru Saturday, bass boats everywhere today
  5. put in at pb2 this afternoon to a full parking lot of BFL boys prefishing and fished my way back to house, ended up with 3 keepers with no size. Couple on a spook with one keeper and 2 keepers in pockets under boat docks with jig. Ended with 3 keepers and 6 to 7 shorts with no bigguns in four hours of afternoon fishing
  6. we had our annual day and a half fall Pomme tourney and fishing was good to fair, winner and 2nd place caught fish on spooks, 1st with 19.23, 2nd with with 18.48 out of same boat. My partner took 3rd with 17.29 with me in 6th with 16.15. We also caught our fish on spooks and jigs on flat shallow banks. Big fish was 5.22, we had a 4.16 and a 4.17 both on spooks fished super SLOW. Also had a surprise fish which was fun that my partner held for me when prefishing because I didn't want any part of it ?
  7. Sounds good to me, my boat is out of water right now because I have a tourney this coming weekend at Pomme, when u thinking
  8. These come from gravois area or up the river?
  9. want more color in water come down this way
  10. Just went and checked mine and it is clean
  11. I haven't been out since the big bass bash but there was a good morning bite till around 9 or so and then it is a grind fishing with bottom baits in and around docks and if in the wrong area its a grind all day. I would go to piles that are 3/4 way back in coves that are in the 2 to 10 foot range. I haven't been able to find a top water bite. I hear fishing up the river past hurricane deck bridge is good now.
  12. not sure how many boats but 2500+ entrants
  13. yep, but it does happen, even to the best of them
  14. I thought donging a jig off a lift or wacking a float woke them up for dinner ?
  15. For skipping I use a 7 foot heavy mbr844 with a chronarch 50 mg with 17 to 20 lb test seaguar, with the heavy line on that small reel it does not hold a lot of line and works pretty well. If I screw up a cast and get to much water on a cast I loosen the tension knob to a free spool and pull out backlash which has worked great for me, believe me I have done this MANY times. If you feel resistance just do not pull it tight, pick at the overspool until you can pull it without tightening up the backlash. Fluorocarbon line does not last long if you put a kink in the line.
  16. Does someone know if there was a problem with the 4th place winner, they said something at ceremony but I could not here what they said? Not sure if he failed a lie detector test or if he just could not be at the ceremony?
  17. We struggled finding any size fish this weekend, Saturday we only boated 3'keepers and other boat had 8 keepers with no size. Sunday we had 5 keepers in first spot and had about 8 keepers for the day. Seemed like there was a good morning bite and then slowed to a crawl for us. Everyone was more than courteous when fishing except one boat that we ran into that we shut down about 30 yards shy of a spot to fish a deep bank that led to a flat with brush and a boat went by us and shut down 10 yards in front of us to fish same spot. They fished between one set of docks for 5 minutes and left so maybe they were a little confused ?
  18. Could ask Pt. Randall Resort if you can launch for a fee there, they are at 2 mm.
  19. that's what he said anyway ?, he is a good fisherman on this lake and fishes it all the time which helps
  20. was out last 2 days and had for yesterday in places, today it was cloudy and windy this morning so there was no fog. If there is no wind Saturday morning it will be pea soup for awhile so be careful, those GPS units do not see other boats coming at you. Don't need a repeat of last weekend where a guy got killed running into another boat. Last year a guy in the bash hit a boat that got loose and was floating out on the lake loose before daylight. Everyone be safe and have a good time. Fishing has been pretty tough on this guy last 2 days with no big fish to be found for me.
  21. We have 4 of us fishing it, good thing it wasn't today, stunk it up! Fished 7:30 to 2 and had 2 small keepers and 3 shorts. Seems like the bite is done after 9:30 - 10 o'clock
  22. went out for a little boat ride with the grand boy and his buddy letting them catch some bluegill on beer bread and fished a little myself, had 2 keepers in a couple hours between baiting hooks and taking off fish but they had a great time ?
  23. The lake is a whole different lake during the week now, only have to slow down for a big roller once in a while, weekends are a different story. Bring on a major cold snap and the weekends won't be to bad either. Can't wait for the buzzbait bite to really pick up, last year it was getting good and had 3 days in the teens and 20s and killed it.
  24. Creeks and big coves are filled with shad that way from front to back
  25. Hope the fish think so ?, made 10 piles and put in different locations so we will see how they do. I can tell you it was lots of work
