6 foot fast action gloomis spinning rod, with 2500 series stradic with 8 or 10 lb smoke fireline. Add a 2 or so foot 10lb flouro leader with swivel.

Horseshoe bend....Period....The whole point can hold fish at times. The best seems to be the main point starting at the bluff and working around the point to the first cove. The sort of flat starting past the first cove was always so, so. PD lost a good un there one day trolling and we did hit a flurry of them there a couple of times a couple of years ago. At the end of that flat it drops off there pretty steep and fast. Got a 25 1/2 incher there pulling a reef runner into the bottom. As soon as it hit open water I got whacked.

Jason, Try this. Get your cranks running close to or bumping the bottom. There is a definitely a large network of ditches on the point, along with the steep drop offs at the end of the points. When I work "Horseshoe Bend", I am generally always pulling on the bottom. The fish I have caught there seem to relate to laying just off the edge of or in the ditches. By having a crank pulling the bottom, when it gets to the edge of the drop it pretty much pulls off of and right into their faces. Caught many good uns' there. The best day I had walleye fishing was this time of year on that point.

I think the osage is doing alright...two of us had 38 in a half day fishing in january..no big uns though.

Stockton for numbers, Table Rock is a definite sleeper. However, for size it would be close between Bull Shoals and LOZ. LOZ needs to be targeted the right time of the year. I caught my best MO walleye (9+) out of LOZ while trolling.

Shady Beach is a great example....They in years past had lots and lots of problems with unruliness. The owners asked for stepped up patrol which was provided and we have seen a large decline in problems there. That and the persons there know that drunken behavior will generally not be tolerated. -

It is fine talking amongst ourselves about when and where we float....But you have to look a the large numbers of families from out of state, and that are just not from the area in general. They book a float after seeing neat pictures about the beauty of the Meremac for example. They get there and it is insanity. Is it their fault that they didn't know what it was going to be like. -
Missouri Water Patrol Getting Ready For Drunken Boater Crackdown.

Smart Azz ......Al hit the nail on the head....head down to one of the local rivers on the weekend and see what its like. Drunken idiots fighting X3, drunken minors with their shorts off shaking their peckers at YOUNG girls who are with their families...Some goons hiking up the woods in front of me tossing two garbage bags full of cans into the woods thinking it was alright. This was exactly one hour in the Stanton area. I had 6 guys tied up on different incidents all of which occurred on the river in a 500 yard section. Think about how much goes unreported. I am fine with going out and having a couple of cocktails on the river however, more than a few of these idiots cause major problems. And the .08 thing.....It all depends on your bodies ability to process the alcohol. I have seen people who have been around .24 do well on SFST's. I have seen others around .08 that couldn't even stand. Tolerance is alot of it. I am all for making arrests for DWI and BWI and even protective custodys. If someone is so drunk they are not able to make sound decisions and start fights and act foolish, 9 time out of 10 their friends do not want anything to do with them. As far as BWI and DWI go, I rather see someone off of the river or road. I invite anyone who disagrees to ask any law enforcement personnel what it is like going to someone's house at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning to do a death notification. It is the most aweful and humbling feeling there is. In a majority of these cases the person was killed in a MVA and alcohol was involved. Take note: someone crosses the centerline and hits your family head on, in seconds your whole life is destroyed....Your kids and wife are laying in a body bag roadside. The guy driving is fine but he is only a .08........Is .08 still alright then or where does the limit need to be? Someone might say well thats different if they were involved in an accident. It really is not. A drunk driver is a time bomb on the roadway. Don't recognize me as someone in uniform...Shouldn't even have brought it up a couple of posts ago. I'm not like that. -

You both are so clueless it is scary you are still wasting our air... -
There is a portion of Rainey Lake that has warnings on the bank about the consumption of fish due to high mercury levels...Where the hell did mercury come from in the middle of the wilderness. All lakes have some level of intoxicants, I just avoid the lakes that look dirty... it makes me feel safer.
-
I patrol the hell out of problem areas here in Franklin County thank you very much, and so do my guys...Cant be everywhere at once. Just because you dont see someone the few mintues you may be at a ramp doesn't mean no one was there. Only takes a couple of minutes to knock the window out of a vehicle and take what they want.

Markin a ridge or some other structure is alright however, when your run a string a couple of hundred yards long don't expect everyone to stay away. I wouldn't and I am not saying I would fish on top of them either. I don't know kind of a gray area for me feeling wise.

That is awesome! My 4 year old caught his first eye at Bull Shoal a couple of weeks ago. It was fine until he tried to lip it :-)

Anyone Fishing Buck Creek To Lead Hill Lately?
rangerman replied to Bill Jr.'s topic in Lower Bull Shoals
Its a pretty amazing site...Felt sorry for the gizzard shad. I have seen them in the spring chasing when the water is cooler just not in 74 degree water. The visibility was about 2 1/2 foot or so and was pretty consistent from Shoal Creek on up to Horseshoe Bend. What is a walleye? -
Situation like Bluebassers are unfortunate but are all to common. I have a house at Kimberling City, which is a little over 3 hours from my home. Yet I still chose to drive to Bull Shoals an hour away for the peace and quiet. I used to fish TR quite a bit for walleyes and caught some good uns there however, there are techniques used in walleye fishing that are not obviously understood by party goers and even certain bass fisherman. I can't count the times I have been on a contour trolling run and had a bass guy pull up 100 yards or less right in front of me and start vertical fishing. No bad feelings just lack of understanding. I hate summer time on TR for sure...What a shame.

Mike you contribute to much information to apologize for anything but something sheerly insultive. Your opinion is always welcome in my book.

I cleaned a few walleye last year with bass fry in them. I had caught a couple of nice blacks over the past couple of years in the 6 pound range however, they were caught about 30 foot deep trolling large cranks. Last week I had countless kentuckies over 15 inches, all of which were in 20 foot plus of water. There were also a couple of spots near the bluff at Lead Hill uplake of the flats that were covered up with nice smallies. Don't think there is any shortage of bass in BS whatsoever.

Seen about a 8 pound black bass floating dead down by Shoal Creek last week...Had a big bluegill wedged in his mouth. While fishing up by horseshoe bend over the river channel along the bluffs I seen something I havent seen since I fished Beaver years ago.. Mike may be able to answer this for me but I have never seen stripers surfacing in water this warm,. Have you? There were about four or five jumbos that had pushed some large shad to the surface and were busting the hell out of them. Love seeing 4 or 5 foot geysers when they are going crazy. They were about 200 yards away and by the time I got to them they had sounded and suspended about 30 foot deep. Tried pulling 800 series reef runners through them but couldn't hook up. -
Brendan, since your info is about the overpopulated and easy to catch green carp, you will not hurt my feelings. :- ) , All sarcasm intended. Don't worry, be happy.
-
Your right about the A rig being a different technique..... However, you need to keep your comments between the "bass" guys....We definitely don't want to start a war here on the intelligence level between a bass and a walleye. Bass are something you fish for when the walleye aren't biting. Really, I dont fish for them anyway, but they bite anything you put down. Defnitely not the smartest minnow in the brook.......BY FAR.

Quite a day!!! Congrats to wife..
