  1. Way nice. How were the snakes?
  2. Very nice. Love the creative use of the ironing board.
  3. I'm in. What a great way to share.
  4. My new favorite oldie is Lefty's Red and White Hackle Fly. I just started fly fishing / fly tying seriously for bass and that thing is killing them for me so far this spring. It's the ultimate in simplicity to tie also, so there's that!
  5. Technically, the famed FPI (Food Pellet Imitator) isn't "gut" fishing. For gut fishing, I prefer the super thin white leather upholstery strip tied on like a san juan worm. Then to more closely match the hatch, I take a red marker and put a few red marks on it. A perfect imitative, not suggestive, fly which mimics the gill gut portion of the trout.
  6. Wow! Respectful disagreement and ongoing discussion of issues. That's why I love OAF. (NO sarcasm intended)
  7. Bean Burrito Night at the Mexican restaurant just up the road.
  8. Careful, trout are often considered a gateway fish leading to more trout!
  9. Is it legal to take a huntin' dog fishin'? Great pics and story. Cool dog.

    Tippett

I just have a hard time carrying those big spools in my fishing vest;-)
  11. I'm sure THEY do, I was talking about me and my so called casting skills. I did get an 8wt TFO BVK for Xmas that I'm dying to try out. Still choosing my reel and lines.
  12. " but what they really are is a fly rod buzzbait" Yeah, with my casting skills, that sucker would be buzzing the back of my head. Great looking fly. I'm just starting to tie for bass, SBS would be appreciated.
  13. Thanks for putting the REAL back into reality viewing
  14. Love this! Great way to start my day here in the cubicle farm. I'm detecting a slight spinning rod bias though! Don't let that dock roof discourage you, there's always the roll cast.
  15. Cool. How deep is that area off the dock?
  16. Sharp Cheddar, Port Wine and Camambert. All available at the local specialty cheese shop. As kids, growing from power baits to flies and lures, we nicknamed that fly the "Trip' Cheese". Best trout park fly ever.
  17. "Good Day" and "On the River"...That's a bit redundant isn't it? Feel free to join me here in cubicle city any time. Great to hear the river is producing, gotta get there again soon.
  18. Nice- do you have to Shadow Cast for those?
  19. That's the new "Leopard Brown". Must have taken a zebra midge.
  20. WARNING! WARNING! Thread Detour, Thread Detour......
  21. Alot of the folks doing that are using sinking line and stripping cracklebacks and woolies down deep. You'll often see them with their rod tips down in the water. I'll just fish a heavy nymph like a copper john or BHPT on a long leader under an indicator.
  22. I didn't see bead pegging. I saw a small Palsa pinch on indicator with a nymph underneath.
  23. Agree with JDMidwest above---rubber is not soft plastic. I did ask the guy in the store at Bennett, didn't get his name though. He stated that per the state definition of "fly", as long as the rubber legs are permenantly attached fly tying materials then it qualifies as a fly and is legal in Zone One at Bennett and any other state waters that are restricted to flies.
