  1. I'm with you on that! I'm thinkin they should be just sittin on the breaks and edges waitin to attack that pea gravel! Found some around docks on Monday. Docks were all in pockets or small coves near pea gravel.
  2. For the first time this Spring, we should be having 4-5 days of fairly stable weather, starting tomorrow? Overnight lows in mid 40's and highs in the upper 60's forecast through early next week. Water temps should be rising steadily, and you gotta think the fish will finally be on the move shallow? The big variable, depending on where you are on the lake, is the water clarity. Still clear on most of the main lake, from what I can see? I assume the rivers and creeks are still going to be stained to muddy for several more days, which should be where we'll find the 50 degree+ water. Have my Son coming down to fish with me Friday through Monday. Just put new hooks on the vintage warts! I'm ready for this!
  3. Oh, Jeez! It's a big-time deal der, eh?
  4. Looks and sounds like everyone had a great time? Would have loved to come, but that's quite a run from my house and dock (near Hwy 13 bridge in KC) by water. I haven't had the rig on a trailer in 6 or 7 years, and not sure I would trust the tires or the bearings? Maybe next time? Definitely, if it's held at Baxter.
  5. That's why I never take my hat and jacket off! (Aw, come on, you know you wanted someone to say that?)
  6. Well, he IS from Minnesota, where they actually pronounce AND spell correctly! Any of us from Mizzurah or OurKansas would have spelled it "fishin" or fishn"
  7. A fish like that could give a kayak a pretty good ride? I hope you weren't in a NO WAKE zone when you caught that fish!
  8. Water is still clear around KC, maybe a little tinge of color in the backs of the creeks, but Lots of sticks and stuff floating.
  9. I had a chance to meet "Bass Fishing" (Austin) and his lovely fiance on the water yesterday. We stayed in touch by text and phone trying to figure out the bite? I got hung up with some projects at the house, so I never got out on Friday, and only fished a few hours Sat & Sun. I wish I could have been of more help, but Saturday was downright tough! Austin did manage a 3#lb spot, which would have won the OA tourney, I reminded him? Sunday, things got a little better with the warm up. He had a 3# + smallie, and a few others on a wart and a Ned. Said he was finding the wart fish off of ledge rock and others on shady docks. I had a few keeps off shady docks on the Ned, and lost a big un in some deep trees on a FB jig. He really wrapped me up, and I could feel him pullin, but couldn't shake him free. got right over the tree, and I could see his big ole head right against the limb. Don't want to guess on the exact size, but it was a good one! He was strippin drag before he got in the tree. I should have had it down tighter? Fishing 14# line. What a sick feeling! Anyway, I really enjoyed hearing from Austin, and he was very appreciative of my help. (wish I could have done more? really thought it would be better based on the water temp and conditions) Nice young man with some definite fishing skills! They are set to be married next Summer, and I told him not to wait too long! A pretty girl like her that will sit out and fish with him all day? Definite KEEPER!
  10. Anyone know the status of Ahoy's and Kimberling Inn? Does Jay Steed own both? Any future plans? He owns "The Rock", and I hear he was trying to buy the land just south of it for a new resort?
  11. If it is getting hung up on the line try taking a clear plastic straw and running your line through it before you tie it to the head. The other thing that helps is cast it SideArm and start reeling it right away when it hits the water. Then you can allow it to sink and it will straighten itself out.
  12. Then, they must open it up for tournaments? I can see Ahoy's from my house, and there were several boats launching yesterday, and the parking lot was almost full.
  13. I'l be on the water Friday, Sat and Sunday. My house and dock are right near HWY 13 bridge, so I'm pretty close to you. I'll PM you my cell #, and give you any updates if you want? Or maybe, YOU can give me updates? Fished this lake for 40+ years, and I still don't have it figured out? Listen to dtrs5kprs! He knows his stuff!
  14. Those pictures would be much better if the carpet in the background wasn't Jayhawk Blue!
  15. I won't say I'm accomplished at the jerker, but I've done pretty well with it. Seems like the next 2 weeks should be ideal for it as the water temp slowly recovers? Wart bite ought to be right behind it? Where do you all like to throw the jerkbait? What do you target in terms of depth, contour, type of rock, etc. I've always liked bluffends, and chunk rock inside of main lake & secondary points. Points with standing wood have not been my favorite, but I know they can be productive. Let's hear your thoughts, particularly during this late Spring warm-up we're about to see!
  16. Thanks, guys! I can't recall why I thought I was once told to try to tie line direct? I distinctly remember taking the snap off and had good results with it. Maybe it was after bending the eye and trying to get it to run under a dock? Man, this getting old stuff is tough on my brain! I wish I was a computer that had good backup files on an external hard drive?
  17. I have several old WW's that I plan on putting back into the starting lineup. Want to replace hooks and rings. Or do I need to replace rings? Need suggestions for specific brand, type and size hooks & rings. Thanks! On a side note, I remember tying line directly to the the old Warts without using the O-ring on the bill. Can't recall why we did this back then, or why the O-ring worked better? I assume a tighter wobble without the ring?
  18. I assume the Bassmaster Classic Final weigh-in Show was produced by Pee Wee Herman on acid? What a ridiculous, insulting-to-the-sport travesty!
  19. Can't help but think that Skeet Reese should have thrown the Ned in between all of those docks he was fishing? 3 more decent K's (5-6 lbs) would have put him in the lead.
  20. It's official! Brian Williams is definitely out tomorrow. Apparently, he is distraught from seeing a dead fish float by his hotel, AND he has dysentery again?
  21. just heard from Brian Williams! He fished the Ned rig from a Chinook Helicopter. He's leading by 16 pounds and may take tomorrow off?
  22. Chief Grey Bear , you have to be the most contrary individual I have ever had the pleasure of not meeting! Your point could have been made and discussed in a much more gentlemanly manner. But, as evidenced by several of your previous posts, you fail to understand the concept of "respectfully disagree"?
  23. Why, Thank you, Sir! I assume then, that I can count on your vote in the Iowa primary? First thing I'll do as President will be to subsidize all fishing boat and tackle manufacturers such that we all get free stuff!
  24. I'm going with Brian Williams! He's got some time off now, and even if he doesn't win, he will still tell a good fish story?
