  1. we have a huge electric pump on the dock with an intake pipe that is under the water. OK, that's not a cheap alternative. How about a bucket on a rope? Used that for years on our old dock when I was a kid. You could try using a small electric pump (Little Giant or Simer) mounted on the dock with a hose you stick in the water. Just put a check valve on the end of the intake so that water stays in that line to keep from burning up the pump. or you could try one of these : http://www.harborfreight.com/all-purpose-drill-water-pump-34302.html
  2. Oh, and the older ones had a much softer metal on the eye hook. Tuning them was fun! Ok, I'll admit ! Never liked using needle nose pliers. I often used my teeth to get that thing exactly right, and more than once I got a sting on my chin from the front trebles.
  3. After seeing all this hoopla about the 'old' warts, I decided to pull out my 'old' tackle box and see what I had? Found 5 that had the 'wiggle wart' imprint on the belly. One is an orange crawdad color MAG wart. I had put lead tape on the underside to get it to suspend when I was fishing LOZ a long time ago. peeled it off, and it still looks good. My best guess on the other colors are 2 (the oldest ones) that are maybe #62's. They look like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/storm-pre-rapala-wiggle-wart-fishing-lure-RARE-crawdad-color/321372977614?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.RVI%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3D6189146061965616227%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D20131017132637%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D371042802901 One definitely looks like a #121 (bright green with a silver bill) And the other one is a trout color, probably a #139. not sure whether any of them is worth anything, or if I should just put new hooks on em and start slingin em? I have used the newer version warts just this week, and the things I notice is that the newer ones don't need much tuning like the old ones, but the older ones seem to have a wider, more erratic wobble and stay down better on a slow, stop n go retrieve.
  4. A Professor at the University of Arkansas? They have those there? Must have stopped in Fayetteville on his way home to Texas after he flunked out of Mizzou?
  5. Was it a roadrunner or a pileated woodpecker? I've seen Roadrunners around the house here, but like you said, never in a tree! The pileated woodpeckers are a real treat. They make an unmistakable screech. Pileated Woodpecker Greater Road Runner
  6. Tommy Biffle? An absolute jerk! Nearly hit me and my Son while he was trying to cut through Pt 7 at WOTduring the high water in 2011. He pulled up just yards from us and another boat that was fishing the cut on the South side. He motored by us and I asked, "What's up with that"? He mumbled something about "I thought you were further down the bank"?. Not an apology, nothing! He then looked straight ahead, ignored us and then gunned it again 20 yards after he passed us. It was a VERY dangerous move, and scared the crap out of us and the 2 guys in the other boat. All to save maybe a minute to go around Pt 7? I should add that it was mid-morning, clear day. I reported it the PAA, got a form-type reply about safety concerns and never heard back from them or Mr Biffle.
  7. I think I might take some scissors and "modify" some green punkin twin tail chompers? Or maybe even take a 4" or 5" grub and snip off about half the tail and split it.
  8. http://www.bassmaster.com/blogs/2014-elite-series-table-rock-live-blog/davis-table-rock-magic-bait Interesting blog about the bait that Mark Davis used to catch several of his fish last week. Apparently he used this combo much like a crankbait. I have used something very similar. Same free-swinging football head, but with a beaver trailer. Now that I think of it, I usually got bit when I first engaged the reel after the cast, or when I was pulling it up over a rock or limb? Never thought to swim it? Guess I will now!
  9. fished KC Saturday-52.1 was the warmest water I saw. Came off the water about 11:30 AM

  13. Thought I would start a thread where we could combine all info about the Elite Series Tourney on Table Rock in one place. Feel free to add any comments, results, pics, etc. Here's the first input from tpierce: Posted Today, 08:57 AM They are catching them big time right now according to my brother who is a camera boat.... Will be interesting.
  14. fish 20-30 ft? Get em on FB jig or A-rig?
  15. Water was 45-47 when we started out. 48.3 was highest we saw when we came in around noon. My digital scale's batteries were dead. I'm guessin betwen 5 & 6?
  16. Hit the water at KC 6:30 AM. Got this one on a wart at 7:15. Came off of steep chunk rock bank just inside of main lake pocket. Only bite we had.
  17. taking my son out for next 3 days. Fri, Sat & Sun We are right at KC bridge and trying to decide where to run? I haven't been on the lake in almost 3 weeks, so not sure where to start? Anyone fished around KC lately? Last time I was out, you could walk across the dead shad. Would we be better off running up towards Baxter or maybe Aunt's? My plan was to work the jerkbait and wart around rock transition banks, and then maybe try the small stuff near pea gravel later in the day? Would love to haear any other suggestions!
  18. I'm in St Louis this week, so I had the chance to visit Cabela's and BPS to try out the different models. ended up with a 6' 6" M St Croix Premeir with a Lew's Speed Spool 5.3:1 from Cabela's. Loved the feel and balance of the Premier versus the Triumph enough to spend the extra $30. Also popped for a St Croix Triumph 6' 6" ML with a Daiwa Aird spinning reel from Bass Pro. We'll see if the fish agree on my choices? Thanks everyone for all of the help!
  19. Baitcast. Forgot to mention that my Son is 26. Appreciate the help!
  20. Want to get my Son a decent rod/reel combo for his Birthday. He LOVES to throw the Wart! Any recommendations on a good combo in the $150 range? I have some BPS gift cards I need to use up. I'm thinking a 6' 6" rod with a soft tip. Is a 5.3:1 a good ratio for the cranks? Thanks for the help!
  21. Because both are in over their heads?
  22. Try calling Straightline Canvas 2464 Joe Bald Rd Kimberling City, MO 65686 (417) 739-3131
  23. Another little trick I've used is to take the worm at the cut end, squeeze it between your fingers so that it 'bulges' out at the cut end and then take scissors or a knife and cut that little bulge. that creates a concave end that you can then put a drop of super glue in after you run the hook thru. push it up on the head and it stays great, and you don't get super glue dripping all over everything.

  25. Has anyone tried the ZinkerZ on a Jika? Was out last week, and had a Jika tied on one rod, and I wanted to give the Zinker a try. I was too lazy to reach way down in my storage for some mushroom heads, so I just threaded the Zinker on up on the Jika, pushing the worm up and over the split rings snug to the head. The rings actually helped bite the worm and hold it to the head. Caught a few 14" with it. May try the Zinker rigged regular Jika-style?
