I figured I'd have to deal with the hole issue. Like the idea of bracing underneath with a 2 x 4 and longer bolts. I assume my wiring will be okay with a 24v model? The 12/24 switch is on the foot control so I should be able to run the same leads to the posts on new one, right? I'm back in town tonight and I will measure everything and get the specs on my old one. Thanks for all of the help, guys!

My 1993 Johnson bow mount(original on my Stratos) is about shot. I'm out of town right now, but without looking, I think it's about a 50+? lb thrust? (I need every bit of that, if not more) Thinkin it's a 42" shaft. I do know it's on a 24v set up, has 3 speeds and a 12/24 switch. Not looking for any of the fancy new set ups, just a solid unit. Saw this one, which is in my price range: http://www.basspro.com/MotorGuide-Pro-Series-Freshwater-Trolling-Motor-Pro-75/45/product/10225012/ Any other recommendations? Not sure about the Gator Mount? Have heard some guys complain about them slipping too much and hard to get back to the right spot when pulling it up. Or, if anyone has or knows of a good used one, let me know.

Swimming Fluke, Jr has gotten the best results for me. I like to take a black permanent marker and darken the top (dorsal) of the bait.

didn't see anything that looked or sounded like crying or whining on this thread? whenever someone posts about a catch, they know they are going to be asked 2 questions: where and what did you catch them on? you provided some good info on depth and lure and if you don't want to share more, then we all respect that.

TRLWQ did not join me in the suit, but David Casaletto (Director at the time) did testify at the trial, and was instrumental in us winning the case. David is a great guy, and has a real passion for keeping our Lake clean! Thanks to the efforts of people like David, more agents are aware of the septic issues, particularly on lakefront property. Some new ordinances have been passed and several more have been proposed to address this issue. http://archive.constantcontact.com/fs060/1102402691657/archive/1106820408895.html#LETTER.BLOCK7

True dat! I bought my lakefront home in '94 and the agent was a nice gal but knew nothing about septic systems. (not that she should, really?) The seller, a guy who was also a RE agent/builder, lied about the condition of the septic system on the disclosure statement. A few months after we bought the home, the septic system failed. I did some research and found out that this guy had received government funds through Table Rock Lake Quality Water (great organization!)to put in a new system in our house and 2 others he was building. He took the money, put in the new system in his spec houses, but not in ours. I sued him and won a judgement for $28,000, which was the cost of a new system and legal fees. It took almost 3 years because he kept delaying trial, switching lawyers, etc. Caveat Emptor, y'all!

You know, Bill might be right on this? It could be calcium, not rust. Maybe the oil I put in mine just dissolved or loosened some of it up? Actually, vinegar or lemon juice is good for removing calcium deposits. Either way, it's worth a try before you just throw it out.

I agree with Champ. You might try this? Stick it in a vise with padding or a piece of leather on each side. Drill a tiny hole and get some light oil, WD-40 or maybe liquid wrench in there. As much as you can get in there. Hold your finger over the hole and shake it up. Let it sit over night. Shake out as much oil as you can. Take a piece of regular cotton string and poke it in the hole with a needle, turn the hole side down and let the string wick the excess oil. May have to do this a few times? Super glue the hole and give it a try. I did this with my favorite old rattlin rogue several years ago and it worked like a charm! PS-might want to remove hooks to make it easier to work with?

Got some Bass Pro & Amazon gift cards for Christmas and they're burning a hole in my pocket! I thought I'd use them to load up on some new line. Was interested in opinions of what line you like specifically for Table Rock. Don't like braided, except for A-rig. Haven't justified the flourocarbon, except for the jerkbait Here's what I typically use: 8# or 10# Seaguar for jerkbait on spinning reel 6# or 8# Maxima or P-Line for grubs, splitshot rig, tube, dropshot, etc 8# or 10# (Trilene, Berkely or ?) for crankbait, spoon or jig 12# or 14# (Whatever brand?) for large worm, FB jig or C-rig Love to hear what specific types others use!

I went out Sunday(8 AM-noon) and Monday morning (10AM-2) Fished within 2 miles of KC bridge. Had pretty good action on steep bluffs with timber. Probably 25 altogether, but only 4 keepers. All on 3/8 FB jig with twin tail chompers. worked jig down bluff walls, but most bites came when jig got down to 25-30'. cuts and swings was where they were holding.

economic downslide? I thought things were great? After all, we just re-elected the guy who has made things so much better for all of us. And gosh, doesn't the future look bright?

Have you checked your transducer? Mine (not the same model) did the same thing, and when I checked the transducer, I found it had broken loose from the hull. Re-glued it and it works fine.

I thought I was using an orange craw WW this weekend, but obviously it was phantom something or other, 'cause the fish weren't seeing it?

Or the other option is to take the points, bet $300 on Notre Dame, and THEN hire a guide! Roll Tide?
-
One of 2 things? If you can afford Big Cedar, then you can afford to book a guide! Or, if not, then cancel Big Cedar, stay somewhere cheaper and book a guide!

UA base layer under wool shirt and insulated coveralls. Always throw an extra sweatshirt in the boat that will go over the wool shirt if needed. polypropelene socks under wool socks and good boots. Winter golf gloves are the best thing I've found for fishing in cold weather. If it's really cold, I'll put the fingerless wool gloves over the leather golf gloves and I can still tie a knot. Then, I keep a pair of insulated leather ski mittens for driving. They will fit right over the other gloves since they are mittens, and the leather allows you to grip the wheel. Another great item is my propane heater. It's the small one for golf carts that holds the little 1 lb canisters and the bottom fits into any cupholder. Great for getting a quick warm-up of the hands or butt. The best thing I ever learned about cold-weather activities was to stay hydrated. Coffee, hot chocolate or whiskey are about the worst things you can drink. Drink plenty of water! I put warm tap water in my big Thermos and also keep a couple of bottled waters in a small insulated bag. Now, drinking all of that water does create another challenge! And we all know who likes to play hide and seek when it's really cold out?

Table Rock Lake Master Plan Revision Meeting
gitnby replied to OutdoorHomey's topic in Table Rock Lake
I think they mean to the general area (Branson,Silver Dollar city, Taneycomo, etc) but not on Table Rock Lake itself. Although there are some weekends in the Summer where it seems like all 50 million are speeding past our dock in wake boats? Figuring there are approximately 8 months (March-October) of active tourist season, that is around 240 days. That means that if each person only visited for one day each, then on any given day, there are at least 208,000 people at the Lake? No way! -

Was out at 6:30 AM both mornings. Fished till 10 Sat and till 9 Sun. Fished within a mile either side of 13 bridge in Fisher and Schooner and around Pt 7. Had 2 really nice 3 lb LM's at first stops on Sat & Sun., both on a redfin right up on the shore in maybe 2' of water. Just inside secondary points in the creeks. A few blow ups on the buzz bait, but no takers. By 7, that bite stopped. Went out on the main lake points and threw FB jig (1 keeper LM) and C-rig w/Fish Doctor (1 keeper smallie). Caught several other non-keeps on the C-rig on main lake points w/timber and a few on the gravel on both sides of Point 7. Nothing special, but enough action to keep me interested.

The 2 resorts I'm most familiar with are Schooner Creek & Whispering Woods, both of which are close to 13 bridge and about as centrally located as you could ask for. http://www.schoonercreekresort.com/ Leon & Jody Prior They used to have one bass boat for rent, but couldn't find it on their web site. http://www.whisperin....com/index.html Gary & Lorene Watson They list boat rentals, but not sure what they have? You could also try Sleepy Hollow. Also good location, a bit west of KC. web site shows bass boat rentals http://www.sleepyhollowresort.net/ You can rent bass boats at State Park Marina. Good location for Access to Spring Fishing areas. Not sure if they will let you keep them overnight at another resort? http://stateparkmari.../boatrental.php

Is Mark selling out at Table Rock Tackle? Also heard Leon & Jody are selling Schooner Creek Resort? Rumor is that some lawyer from Mexico was buying Schooner Creek & Kimberling Inn? Anyone have the scoop?

One of the forum moderators had expressed some concern about my post above. Sorry if any of you were offended by my post. Certainly, that was not my intention. I love this area as I grew up here, and moved back several years ago. Anyone who knows me will tell you that my sense of humor is often self-deprecating. If you saw me at Wal-Mart, you might get a chuckle at what I was wearing? My next-door neighbor does keep his Christmas lights up year-round. Several others on this forum have joked about the 'newbies' on the boat ramps. I was a newbie once, some 35 or 40 years ago. And, we all have been annoyed by a jetski or power boat screaming by us early in the morning while we're trying to fish. The meth lab comment, while sad, but true, probably was a poor choice. Here are some more fun things to do in the Branson area: -stroll through the Wal-Mart in Branson West for some great people-watching! You will see it all, including black knee-socks with sandals, spandex galore, and almost certainly a guy with cut-off overalls, work boots and a wife-beater T-shirt. And that's just the greeters! Wait until you get to the Housewares Department! -Drive around the neighborhoods to see the Christmas lights. I know it's almost June, but it's tradition around here to leave them up year-round. -Visit any public boat ramp and watch the brand new 18' Bayliners being towed by the Lexus Hybrid SUV's. Great fun to watch them launch or load! -Rent a jetski, take it out on the lake at 6 AM and wave to the Fishermen as you buzz by them on every main lake point. Be careful, though, cause some of those ole boys can heave an Alabama rig a long way!

not sure what will be available on Memorial Day? You could try Schooner Creek Resort near Kimberling. Not fancy, but great location. Ask for Leon or Jody Prior, the owners. Or maybe Whispering Woods. Gary or Lorene Watson
