Stein, do you have room for (3)? We have gear to hit floor.
-
Is there any camping near? My crew are cheap and well equipped.
-
Good chance there will be (3) Tulsa boys in my crew. We usually camp, regardless of weather. We have boat and just looking to meet you guys and talk shop. We had an awesome weekend this last. Rainbows were cooperative on most colors (had to change often to keep bite going) Carroll side between Copper Johns and Cane Island. Mostly on flats in +/- 2ft. Of water. Had a few browns under 3lbs. Up in State park. White jigs early. Be on river at daybreak if you want a Brown

Yes. I am sorry that was unclear. That lake has crawfish everywhere there is rocks. Super fun though
-
I have dived on Beaver a few times. LOL. Anyhow in a month or so the crawfish will be anywhere there is rocks. 5" to 50' We like catching them at bottom then swimming up ten feet of so above my buddies and watching Smallies come out of nowhere to nail the craws. The lateral lines and eye sight are amazing. Visibility at 15-20ft, and the bass show up so fast when there was nothing around.

Camped at State Park and beautiful conditions...for camping. Saturday 7am in SP, First off, my buddy nails a 4lb. Brown on trout x-rap before we even got off the ramp. Fishing was a little slow for what I am used to on the white. Same buddy gets another slightly smaller Brown on same x-rap and i was picking away at rainbows on every color jig I had. Never got a consistent bite going in morning . By lunch we had a really light box of fish, and took a break from 11:00-3:30 since the sun was so bright. Afternoon was slightly better and we did good with jigs on the stretch just above Cane island on Marion side of river. Day two: Got to ramp a little earlier and fished SP with better results. Chunky rainbows were hungry and attacking Olive/ginger. Then the fun trip got even better. My 6yr. caught an 18" Brown on my TFO Rod. I was proud. He could work his jig better than most grow men we have invited over the years. My buddies think that we found the missing partner. lol. If you guys are headed to fish the white and it is going to be clear and sunny.....skip breakfast and get out as early as you can. You can circle back for food around 10:00 unless you can find a stretch of river in the shade. Both days fishing really slowed down by 9:30. Pictures to follow when I get back to office tomorrow

Good luck, have fun and please report. Some of us desk monkeys live for new reports. Especially before we have trips planned!!

Maybe this is the site: Flyfishingarkansasandmissouri.com This is the only site I know of that fits your description. Not sure if a mobility card will fly, better ask

Thanks for the PM guys. I have a solid lead on my request. It has been a call this guy, then that guy sends me to this guy whose cousin knows a guy who is married to a lady who's brother might know someone kind of thing

Long Shot here but: Me and (2) fishing buddies have our annual trip to the State Park planned for February 16th-19th. Does anyone have a trout boat that we can hire for the trip? Meaning a boat on a trailer that does not have to be checked in everyday, that can fish different areas of river? We would like to be able to find the fish and not worry about the river dropping and having to get back up stream, as well as getting an early start in the mornings. I have been fishing the White for over 25 years in rental boats and know the river well from Cotter to the dam. Low water/High water, I know the shoals...very well...I have waded them and pulled boats when the water turned off in my earlier days.LOL I know it is a stretch, but short of buying a trout boat, we are never going to get to fish this river fully when the rentals have to be turned in about the time the evening bite takes place hours before dark. We can work out a deposit system, release of liability form, and a rate. Not asking for someones trick Shawnee or topwater. Just a decent boat with a decent motor to go chase some fish. Feel free to PM me with any replys or suggestion. I am familiar with every rental from State Park to Calico.

Roaring river is infested this year with watersnakes. They are completely harmless unless you break a leg out of surprise. Argue all you want. Go to the nature center. Cotton mouths don't like 55 degree water. Learn your snakes if you are going to share their territory. Actually go to the nature center for the snake program. They usually have it a couple times a weekend during the summer, and it is very informative. Kids love it.

OMG STEIN, that would be enough to get you banished from the fishing buddies. I know if I was the only one to bring my wife on a week long trip....I failed the boys

We camped at the very clean campgrounds at the state park. Good job Arkansas!! Take note Missouri #%@#$. Honestly, the restrooms at the State park have always been clean every time we have ever stayed there. Lots of hot water and clean toilets. Back to the fishing. Water did not run over 2 units all three days, but we at least had a unit on at all times, which if you know the channels, you can go almost anywhere. At the beginning of each day we would run up to the dam for catch and release action. The moss is ridiculous right now, I have never seen it this bad.. Not only is it covering the river bottom, but when they change the water level it breaks free and is impossible to fish any kind of bait without getting constantly cleaning your line and bait. I mainly fish jigs and I like to bounce them as close to the bottom as I can get. Not this time. Areas that are usually gravel were covered for the most part. We managed to scratch out some fish, but it was far from the usual "smack down" that we come Bull Shoals for. We fished from the dam all the way down past Sportsmans. One of our best areas for clean bottom was above Stetsons down past Sportsmans. Also, the weather was too perfect. I don't like bluebird days for fishing. Sunburn was very hard to avoid. I did see lots of bigger rainbows holding here and there, and most of our fish were above average size. Only caught 1 brown trout this time probably about 17 inches or 1 1/2 lbs. Lures: Jigs colors had to be changed often to keep the fish interested. Brown/Orange Jig Zig was top. Ginger was good when there was junk in the water. Sculpin and Ginger was fairly consistent too. 1/6 ounce Colorado spoons swam just above the moss had fair results as well. Hopefully, they will generate some water since the BASS Masters is over, and wash this moss on down.

Shawnee/Supreme Cotter Trout Tournament - March 26th, 2016
BFTMASTER replied to Clay Goforth's topic in White River
Anyone have the results? -
So far he is in the lead for big fish on jig for this year. I have been trying for years to break 4lbs. On a jig. Have hundreds under 4lbs., but that congrats that is a hog for a jig
