  1. It's not just you or your family, but the other people on the road you may endanger when your tire blows
  2. I want someone to tie up some big long jigs similar to the streamers the fly guys are using. We did not catch anything but trout, but I am pretty sure there is all kinds of warm water fish moving around in there right now. We saw several catfish around 5lbs. dead up in the catch and release. I would put some good money on a decent walleye catch after the water clears up a bit.
  3. I hit the catch and release area on Friday and Saturday. They were running about 9-11K. White jigs as close to the dam as you could get resulted in a fat 2lb. rainbow every cast. After about 9:00 that bite died down and we had good luck with the browns. We caught 18 browns between 15 and 20". They were staging in 2-3 ft of water in the middle of the river and were hitting brown and orange Pj's. I wish that Pj made a 3/16" or 1/4" oz. I prefer Pj's, but that is just me. Downstream of Cane Island, the bite really died off and we quickly learned to just stay with the fish that were cooperating. Lots of boats out
  4. Yeah, I am not the kind of guy to just help myself to things, unless you have a cooler of cold beer.
  5. I would think a 8" piece of track would be getting close to 20lbs+
  6. Where does everyone on the white get these railroad track anchors? I need a couple and when I call around, the suppliers and salvagers just don't get it.
  7. Trigg, tell me the streamer boys have been tearing the big fish up?
  8. It would be really hard to beat Venice Louisiana for any kind of saltwater fishing. Fish populations and creel limits are both significantly higher in LA. check out : Louisianasportsman.com and research some of the articles from years past. They should also have a regional report on there somewhere.
  9. You throw the tabby when you want a really big fish.
  10. Kinda like when you see a horse fly on a fat kids back at the swimming hole about the time.....
  11. The problem is not that the snakes will bite me, but that I might jump and run into a tree or rock trying to escape, therefore all snakes are deadly.
  12. Hopefully JoeD will chime in. I have used Rapala CD-5 through CD-9 with some success, but I know the true stick bait guys have much better baits then that.
  13. OKAY GUYS, I HAVE BEEN WATCHING NEWLANDS WEB CAM (Link below), and although the water is very high, it appears to be clear. Surely someone is chunking stick baits and streamers. Where is the reports and pics? I have not found any reports on any of my normal forum haunts. The fish are probably packed in any slack water and eddy you can find. Most years the reports start coming in around now. http://newlands.com/index.php?id=213
  14. Thanks everyone who helped with the trash pick-up. I was not there, but wanted to let everyone know that we appreciate the hard work.
  15. Not to get anyone too excited, but I think I passed the stocking truck down by Gore today. Anyone know if they are back to the weekly program?
  16. If anybody from Tulsa is going, lets talk.
  17. It might be tough for me with a new born as well as finishing up deer season, but I have wanted to meet up for Jig fest since last year. I would probably be sleeping in my truck or tent to save $, but I am going to try to make it if you guys will have a new face around. Probably seen most of you on the river over the last 10 years anyhow.
  18. Next, rent a wide shawnee from the State Park. Really sweet boat with electric start yammie.
  19. Look into RiverCliff Cabins. They now have a two bedroom and then if you rent the little house on the river with the dock, you are set. Fishing is good off the dock and eddys from the two wing walls. State park is a 2 minutes by car. We stay there at least once a year and it feels like home when we pull up. Great location with dock and firepit.
  20. Rent some of the New Wide Shawnees over at the State Park Trout Dock. Some thing like $130 full day. They have new yamaha's with electric start. Everything else for rent on the white is a sharp drop in quality. Only problem is waiting for the office to open (7:30?) and having the boat back (5:00?)
  21. Nice report Otis. You guys need to get some Pj's or zig jigs, if you like the spinning equipment.
  22. I like the bag too, it keeps the crawfish from killing my fish, and i rarely have a fish any less than full frisky, which is nice if you only catch one or two. Probably not supposed to release fish after captive, but i assure you the bag keeps them fresh and live.
  23. There is so much water headed for Arkansas, that it is quite possible to catch low water on LIR. They are going to run it Thursday sometime, but watch the schedule after the rain stops.
  24. I wanted to take a minute and thank the Flyfishing group that hosted the trash cleanup this past Saturday. There was Approx. 30+ guys and gals that spent their Sat. picking up what the low lifes left behind. They had quite a pile of trash when we got to the parking lot. Always take out more than you brought, by way of trash. Of course, I have meet many people from OA, and I would not think any to trash a fishing hole. THANKS AGAIN CLEAN-UP CREW!!!
  25. Darn beavers!! Oh well nothing Tide and Oxyclean can't fix. LOL
