Why Cant The Media Cover This
exiledguide replied to Feathers and Fins's topic in New News and General Discussion
I agree BUT............. You guys don't understand if you have children today you are suposed to be their friend not parent, dress your daughter like a hooker and blame society and the schools when she gets pregnet and let your boy run around all night and blame, thats right, society and the schools when he ends up in jail or dead because you just couldn't take the time to be a parent. Maybe it won't be that bad you might just have your kid living with you and sponging off you for many years. People will call you old fashion ike they did me, but thats OK because my daughters chidren all had and still have loving parents who still are married. -
The bigger conferences don't very often play in state . I know in Iowa and Kentucky it took the state legislature to force KY to play Louisville and to force Iowa and Iowa State to play Northern Iowa. Why can't Missouri Arkamsas and Illinois play in state schools either. I remember when SLU was in the valley and yearly was a top 20 team and they played non league games against schools like Iowa, Kentucky and Ohio State but refused to play Missouri because they didn't want to loose any recruits to the Tigers who were not very good and the Big 7 was not a very good basketball conference except for Kansas until they talked Oklahoma A & M to join and make it the Big 8.

Wrench,I hope so, what good is a law if the punishment is just a slap on the wrist Why bother. In the late 80's in NW Ontario, One walleye over the limit in the freezer cost the guy and the owner of the fishing camp $ 1,500

Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded, Yogi Berra. Sorry , I don't know why that poped into my mind but bring as you guys were talking about Yogi, I heard one at the broadcast of Stan's funeral Yogi said he always went to friends funerals because if he didn't, they would not come to his.

Lunch at Durty Gurtys in Galena great burgers.Lose most of money at casino. Walleye Dinner at Coache's in Praire Du Chien, cross the river to Marquette Iowa and sample at the winery and then loose all your money at the casino Oh wait, that was day 2 off my last vacation.............. The view of the Mississippi river from Marquette is one of the best anywhere I have never seen so many wooded islands in area on the river.

I asked my wife who has flown to mall of America on more than one ocasion with her friends how many days a woman should allow on a fishin trip for shopping ay M OF A she said 3 full days. Of course you could drop her off in the morning and get her every knight or give her money for a taxi, on the bright side however, my bride never complains about any time I spend at BPS, Cabels's, Acadamey or even Mank's bait shop when we are in N. Iowa.

Check out Pelican lake at Orr MN It's the one lake I was always going to fish someday. It's about 900 miles from Fayetteville area. Pelican lake assn has a website. I drove by it for almost 20 years on my way to NW Ontario and I kick myself for never stopping there. It may be too late this year to get a reservation any where in Minnesota this year so where ever you decide to go I'd get booked as soon as possible. These people will be at the outdoor shows right now and may run out of cabins for this year pretty soon.

Books And Internet Resources For Stream Fishing
exiledguide replied to TSmith's topic in General Angling Discussion
You have a ton of information on this website go fish. I'm serious I learned to catch smallmouth by fishing . Years ago i found a new outdoor paper called the Travler,I think, that later became the River Hills traveler at a gas staition next to the Dog N Suds in Cherokee Pass on hwy 67 and every month I'd read about the Castor, St Francisetc rivers and try to find the places written about by the writers. when I did I'd fish and most of the time they produced. Some of the places didn't because low water or too deep to wade safely. It took a while before I became somewhat compatent but once I figured it out I now believe smallmouth in streams are one of the easyest fish to catch. But the first few years when I was first learning may have been themost fun I ever had fishing. No the most fun is taking someone who wants to learn fishing and traching them what little bit I know about smallmouth.I wish I could have had all the information that is available today and also if you want to learn how to catch smallmouth fish only for smallmouth if you spend time fishing for trout or walleye you will pass up the chance to learn about the fish. Sorry I tend to ramble I second everything Mitch posted above and I still use most of the resources mentioned above -
I don't know I've used my belly float tube in the park and its too deep to wade there but I've seen guys put in there kayaks & canoes and head upstream fishing and not come back while I was there..........But I have fished the park during the week and had pretty good luck everytime I've been there .......a lot more cover than I would have expected. More largemouth than smallies but they are fun too..........

The rod , most MO fly fishing doesn't need a high dollar reel. I think a quality line is also very important. I emphasize quality not cost , if someone tells you that you need to spend hundreds of dollars on a rod that is not true, you might need that if you are fishing up in an Alaskan river for salmon ..........I think a good place to start would be at the fly shop at Cassville or Plateau Fly shop on Campbell ave in Springfield.

Smallmouth Bass Management Update - Jan 16Th
exiledguide replied to Dan Kreher's topic in Smallmouth Talk
I'm one of the few members in SW MO. I worked with Gary trying to get more members down here. I was the guy who put the samallmouth signs up with the metal T Post backed with cedar board at Delaware town,Shelvin Rock etc. I had to do that because I was told I would be subject to arrest if I put any sings on MDC property including the signpost already there and any trees on the property. It just amazes me at the attitude of the MDC and people who claim they want better smallmouth fishing defend this group of do nothing bueracrats. At some point the MDC needs to do something. They sure have no problem with improving trout fishing . Smalliebigs, I have no respect for the people that run the MDC I have a great deal of respect for the employees of the MDC except for the guy who told me I couldn't put up the signs.....cwc87, sorry if if the members actualy expected some honest answers......and Dan you are ceazy to trust the MDC leadership they have never been requied to do their job , why would they start now........I don't attend those meetings because of the distant but I would have liked to have been there last night.............. no I really wouldn't because -

I want to thank you all for your answers. I don't hunt but I still send a few bucks to DU every year cause I think that ducks in the fall make fishing a lot more enjoyable.

Until I moved to this area I never realized that there was much in the way of duck shooting here. I just wonder how the population of birds in this area compres to the river noth of st louis and the Stutgart AR area and are there enough birds in the area to draw hunters from other parts of the country? Look at the money that is spent in southern IL on bids on Rend Lake I don't have any desire to hunt anymore This is just a question I have and I think there are guys here that can answer it.

Good luck, see ya at the fishin hole
