  1. Charley Campbell, Stan Sloan, and Floyd Mabry. Three guys who really influenced Bass Fishing. Add Buck Perry to that group and I think you would be hard pressed to find more influential guys in the development of the sport.
  2. If you release them It's Easier to lie about how big they were.
  3. Take me, take me. Just funnin' ya. Maybe the best Smallmouth Walleye Lake I ever fished but that was 20 some odd years ago are you going to fish with the Float N Fly? You sure are going at the right time of year. Good luck!
  4. I thought Ned Renolds on KY3 news tonight said 17 million over 2 years.
  5. Royals to Houston to Mets to Giants. He had a big 2 months with Houston in 2004 I think, and got a big contract from the Mets and after 2006 I thought he had gone into the tank. Big contract with Mets and he was blamed for the playoff loss in 2006. It can affect a lot of players with the newspapers and then the fans blaming you for the teams failures. I hope he can stay healthy and go back to his pre 2007 play. They pretty well ran Berkman out of NY.
  6. Good having you here, worked with a guy who used to catch big cats and walleye below Winfield Dam on the Mississippi. Looking forward to your reports
  7. Rookie! just funnin' ya, me and St Janet are looking at 50 yers come Feb. That,s how I learned the "yes dear".
  8. Hey, I resemble that!!
  9. There ya go again Wrench, thinking that any logical thought or science would ever enter into any decision that the Mucky Mucks at the MDC would make. Oh yea, all of you who line up to support this rule with no scientific fact, should bend over, grab your left ear with your right hand and your right ear with your left hand and pull your head out of your..........
  10. Remember these two words that are the key to a happy mairrage.......Yes dear.
  11. Newest Bassmaster: Kevin Golub caught a 19 pound 7 ounce limit of 5 smallmouth on one cast on Conesus Lake on Nov 9. Winter smallmouth fishing on TR with with the'bama rig or the float'n'fly
  12. I have used power baits since they were introduced and I got originaly got a package from a tackle rep to try and of course I didn't at that time think they were of any value so the package sat at the bottom of my UMCO box until that day long ago when I was just about skunked on the big Piney at horshoe bend and we were about to pack it in and paddle on down to Mineral Springs when I remembered thoae worms and nothing else was working so we tied them on and flat out wore out Smallmouth, Largemouth and Goggle eye on a pumpkin pepper 8" not very soft hook tail Power worm .Goobbye Mepps, Beetle Spin, and Mr Twister. Hello Power baits. I didn't have much luck with their Gulp but the Gulp Alive is as good of a bait that that and Chompers are about all I use anymore. I don't use scents on any hard baits any more or on spinner baits they never seemed to catch me any more fish but I do wash my hands with a scent removing soap before I touch a lure or my line. By the way we were going to the local drug store and buying oil of anise to put on fishing lures 60 years, ago not the food flavoring Anise you would get at the General sore and off course one of my Dads fishing buddies would spit Chewing Tabacco on his hook........
  13. Only if the Bidwell family stayed in Arizona.
  14. Paul's in St.Louis, Della's in St.Louis, Hank's in Waterloo, Iowa but the absolute neatest OLD bait and tackle shop that I have ever been in is Dohziers Rainbow Landing on Lake Catherine at Hot Springs Arkansas just down lake from the Carpenter Dam bridge on maybe the best mile of walleye, rainbow trout, striper and largemouth bass water I have ever fished. It has a new owner since I moved back to Missouri in '97 bot Mr Dohzier would put you on Rainbow Trout beyyer than anyone I've bought from but the biggest attraction was the memorabila in cases and hanging on the wall from tackle companies going back in the case of trolling motors to the first year of manufactureing.
  15. Sounds like you have a good plan thanks for sharing it. If you don't have one, the marina has maps of the crappie beds on Fellows for, I think a dollar. They may also be available at the MDC website.
  16. Way to go. A 17 incher is fun on any kind of rod. I have caught smallmouth on everything from a 6 wt fly rod to a medium heavt 20 lb momo bait casteing and I think that ther is nothing that compares to Smallmouth on crankbaits. I don't think its the most effective way but the most fun way when they 'Nock the fire out of it"
  17. I have had such good results with the Spirex and Saharah I have not needed any new reels in a number of reels both of them have smooth drags and don't break down. Thats just my experiance and I went to Shimano after thwo other beel companies spining reels broke down while I was fishing in NW Ontario and pullin' BIG Goggle eye out of the Big Piney. Both had the bail spring fail. I fish plastic worms and jigs with spining reels and when wading I fish wading I fish spinning reels but for most hard baits I use baitcasting so I can't comment on spinning reels for used for those lures.
  18. Wow I didn't know that Virgil Ward had a line of hard baits. We were at that time into Lazy Ike, Bombers and River Runts, I guess that dates me. Back then there was no computers and the only two shows about fishing in the late late 60s were Virgil and Harold Ensley and most of the fishing tackle was sold in hardware stores and bait shops so big selling baits in one part of the country quite often were not available in other parts. The Scorpions had plastic skirts that only worked in warm weather, too stiff when the weather was cold.Yeah I wish I wouldn't have tossed out a lot of those lures. I always thought the art work on the Heddon lure boxes was the best fishing advertising art there ever was.If you ever want to sell those lures I would be interested but I think theywould be worth more than I could afford to pay.
  19. I understand they have suspended fracking in Arkansas prompted by the daily earthquakes in the Greenbriar area.
  20. That's never going to happen. He wants too much control. I don't follow KC much but were not they in first place until there QB got hurt. I think there are going to be a whole lot more firings soon. I think Cower would be more inclined to go to Miami or Indianapolis or Dallas. I can't see the coach at St Louis keeping his job either.
  21. No there are NO Smallmouth in that area none at all. They all run up the kings river and actualy there is a tribe of inbred deviate violent armed hillbillies who get off haveing there way with "fisherboys" wearing Orvis or Sims waders something about making you squeal like a pig. Thats why I only were BPS or Cabelas products when I fish the James River....
  22. I think he was auditioning for the before picture in an Orvis add.
  23. The last smoke I had was the morning of July 10, 1997 in front of the hospital were I later had a colan cacer removed and those six days were themost painful disgusting days of my life, I could not even get out of bed to crap, hooked up to a morophine drip. I also missed 4 months of wages no sick leave. Believe it or not I decided the best way to avoid being in that position again was to stop smoking. I went from 2 to 3 packs a day to none. I know how hard it is to stop, not a day goes by that I don"t reach for a reach for a smoke, right after breakfast, when i start my boat engine etc. As much as i crave a smoke I will never give those low life scumbag SOB satanic worshiping pieces of dung known as tobaco company executives another penny of my money. I hope they all burn in hell for eternity.
  24. Thanks for posting this. Now lets hope that these guys are not let off by crooked judges or prosecuting attorneys.
  25. The lures to the left as I look at them are Bomber Hellbender baits I believe. I Recognize the style of the other baits but will have to find my book to have a chance to name them. My first spinner baits I used were Virgils Bass Buster Tarantula and Scorpion. I still have some of those and I still catch fish on them. I guess I'm one of the few left who like to fish a single spin short arm spinner bait in heany cover. Happiness is letting one of them drop of a tree branch and feel that thump........ If you wemt back 40 years with that tackle box afew of Virgils spinner baits and some Jelly worms with a few hair jigs and uncleJosh pork eel you could have you a time on just about any water in the midwest. Along with a Fenwick 1257 Lunkerstick and a Ambassadeur 5000 reel the bass didn't stand a chance. at least that was what it said in the adds in Field & Stream....
