  1. Show me your .........You thought I was gonna say ............ Actualy for a short time after I retired christmas of 97 I was an intern at KDHX radio with Roy ST John and Otis Woodward's morning show and we were the offical opening of Mardi Grass in Stlouis at Off Broadway we had help from people like Barbara Carr (talk about a babe who could take over a stage), And Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Johnny Johnson who passed away not that long ago. What a nice guy he was. He and John Hartford and all the members of Beasoleil the best cajun band you ever heard were the coolest folks I ever met other than people who worked at KDHX. Back then Mardi Gras was a blast. I wish I would have remembered earlier, bought some beads and then I could ask my wife to show me your.............
  2. Drew I could be wrong but I don't believe horses were native to MO until introduced by the Spanish. Smallmouth are not native to MO I'm not sure Rainbow Trout are native to MO, McCloud trout are not native to Crane Creek but all these animals are protected by laws or regulations. My point is I look upon wildlife as a resource to be used with proper management. I'm a lot older than most of you guys and I remember when very few deer or turkey were in this state and they were reintroduced with proper management not put in one area with no hunting of them allowed until they reached a population to support a harvest. I'm not against Elk in Missouri I'm against spending millions of dollars being spent in what may not work. Why not release them to the wild protect them from illegal hunting until thet reach a herd size to allow a harvest. OH, by the way I don"t hunt any more never hunted for big game birds were my what I enjoyed along with rabbits. As for hijacking this topi, MIC, I did answer his question and no one has said that my info was wrong. Also so as not to hurt anyones feelings I will refrain refrain from using POOBAHS to reference the MDC commisars and use either the kinder and gentler terms Mucky Mucks or Lustros Potates. God bless America!

Yep I should have said I fished the strip pits until the Smallie season opened in MO then Ispent most of the summer on the Cator or the Big Piney eventualy bought land on the Big Piney at Houston Mo that didn't work out for retirement. That area around Millstadt had more than one strip mine were i was able to catch Bass up to 7+ lbs and in the sprig spawn get a bucket of 10 to 12" bluegill every year until developers bought the land and developd it. I think that southern Illinois is almost as good of fishing as Central Arkansas with the smallmouth in AR being the deciding factor.
  4. Don't crawfish change colors during the seasons? By the way great photos.
  5. And I absolutely detest orange bellies on crankbaits. . AL, I've seen you post that before about orange on crankbaits and I'm just the opposite I really have a hard time with a crawfish pattern without an orange belly. I also don't rate the Wart very highly, I even checked and made sure that the warts I own were the old ones fished them first on a number of trips and they didn't produce as well as my Double Deep Wee Rs are the Norman deep little N's. I think it has got to be the actual mechanics of the way I fish a crank bait. I know that the Wiggle Warts are great baits I just don't catch many fish with them. As a matter of fact I'm going to give them all to my fishing buddy he fishes Table Rock a lot more than I do. I also know that probably the Orange belly produces better for me because I expect it will and I guess that is why there are so many choices when it comes to crankbaits. Also who were the people who decided to change the way Wiggle Warts were made and who decided to stop producing the Double Deep Wee R ?

Great photos, If ether of my daughters had stayed in the St Louis area after they married I probably would have retired some place in southern Illinois most of my adult life was fishing strip mines around Milstadt Belleville area/great fishing cose to St Louis. Thanks for posting
  7. Sent you a email.
  8. How about using those funds for reverseing the decline in the numbers of Quail and Pheasants in MO how about more access in the southern part of MO for Duck hunters, how about more programs for kids hunting and fishing, how about more community lakes, how about more urban fishing progams, How bout finding out if the Neosho Smallmouth is a different strain and then, if true,. making sure it gets whatever protection it needs to maintain its place in the wild. If that's stirng the pot, I'm proud to do it. You seem to think that an objective view of things that the MDC have done should not be allowed on this forum. If you would ask any who has ever known me they would tell you I was the biggest champion of the MDC but when wrong decisions are made by anyone working for a state agency I am going to speak up as I did when River Otters were reintroduced into Ozark Streams, which now the MDC admits might not have been the best idea, returning a preadator to the rivers that had not been there for how many generations of fish and crawfish. My objection to the Peck Zoo is the cost and my experiance of living in Arkansas where the most likely place to see an Elk is in fenced private proprty forageing with cattle with no compensation for the owner. The last I heard AFG wanted to move the Elk to 10,000 acres of wilderness along the Buffalo which will be off limits to hunters. Maybe someone living in Arkansas has more on that issue.
  9. A recent column in the paper reported that the Elk Zoo was costing, I believe, three times the cost that the MDC PooBahs said it would. Oh thats right, I'm not supposed to question any stupid projects the MDC PooBahs waste money on or suggest that they knew the cost all along and lied about the cost. Wonder what that money could have been used in the management of animals already here?
  10. I mean this as a compliment to George he does more with the lamest material than any singer I have ever heard. Most of his songs would never be recorded if it wasn't for skill of George Jones . I'm not much of a fan of country music but I think he is about as good of a song stylist as anyone. I have believe he ranks right up there with Tony Bennet as a singer.I also think that there is very little country music allowed on the radio just crappy Rock and Roll sung by as......... in cowboy hats. There ya go, you got me started.........
  11. When it comes to anywhere, and why did they quit making them?
  12. When has the COE ever done anything that makes sense? Look at the Misissippi and Missouri River basin before and after the COE improvements.
  13. That would make too much sense, getting a ticket to MO Illinois braggin' rights when I still lived in StL was almost impossible unless you bought them as soon as they went on sale. I guess it's still sold out real quick. I got off the track, 2 years ago my grand son refused to play in Waterloo iowa youth baseball league until he was traded from the Cubs to the Cardinals he was 9 years old at the time.
  14. Bold talk, them sounds like fighting words, beware I may just scintilate your verbosity with a blast flumory the likes of which OAF has never seen before. So put that in the pipe and smoke it!
  15. Went to St Louis for our 50th weding anniversery last week to have dinner at Lombardos at the airport. We used to dine at Lombardos on W Florrisant before we were married and most of our time when we lived in St Louis. The family now has a number of resturants but this one has most of the old menu items that they had in the old location. Turned out real well still a nice resturant and ,I thought, a bargain. I wish they would move to SW MO. My question that I hope someone can answer is where can I find a resturant that serves Turtle Soup in sothwest MO or NW Arkansas. The kind that is spicy without being super hot and has a thick broth almost like a stew. We have no problem in driving a longer than normal distance for specific meals. The only other place that we found turtle soup as good as Lombardo's was Prejeans in Lafayete La but thats too far to drive since we've moved back to Missouri. Now while I have your attention, I know about a lot of good resturants in the springfield branson area but don't have a good knowledge of othe areas where would be good resturants for lunch this spring when I'm driving around on our anual look at dogwood redbuds and wildfowers and small streams? We Know about Family resturant in Cassville but the rest of area I Know very little. I guess I'd like to find something like the old Carl's in Emminence who had maybe the best ever ham and beans I ever tasted or Riverside Grocery and Resturant in In Benton AR on the Banks of the Saline River who on Fridays had the best catfish meal I've ever tasted.
  16. It's only those who disagree with my pure apostolic dogma driven facts as I present them who argue their satanic beliefs on this website and if you dare to disagree with my Biblical Godly directed opinion I will bully and dogpile you into total submission.
  17. I have to question that. As I remember it was a well known striper guide who was caught and ticketed for using trout for bait on Lake Ouachita by the AFG and a local prosecutor and judge agreed to a slap on the wrist penalty. Small fine and no loss of guiding license. I could be wrong but thats what I remember. There also was the sting where trout fishing guides were caught by agents the AFG brought in undercover agents from other states and the local prosecuter refused to bring charges against the guides who were caught. Also the Bassmaster or FLW tournament On Lake Ouachita where one of the contestants tried to weigh in an ilegal slot limit fish and the AGF wouldn't cite him because he was from out of stae. In Arkansas if you have money or influance you can get away with anything.

    Sweet!

I realy enjoyed that game the Tigers have suprised me all year no size and a short roster but these guys play the whole game. The crowd looked like Kiel Auditorium in the 50' and 60's for St Louis U games in the Mo Valley Conference. I might be the only one on this forum that got to watch Oscar Robertson, Jerry Lucas Don Nelson etc. when they were in college. Wow am I really that old?
  19. One of those crank telephones......and maybe some dynamite Actualy I am thinking of upgrading some of my older rods. I have been impresed with the Falcon I bought to replace my broken smallmouth rod.
  20. So you are the reason the weather turned to crap, the James has gone up a foot and my waders leak.........welcome back anyway.
  21. Did I miss out on another cussin' out name callin' internet scuffle?
  22. This forum needs spellcheck real bad......
  23. Sad news last night passing of Charlie Spoonhauer. Died from the same disease as my cousin did in 1999. Revitalized SLU basketball after putting SWMO on the basketball map. I liked him even more announcing games on television. He also was a symbol of what coaching was about, I just wish he could have been able to get a blue chip post player.
  24. They thought he was bigfoot......?
  25. If you have any interest in fishing electronics or bass fishing in general you need to go and listen to Mike Webb. Not only is he very knowlegable about all aspects of Ozark fishing but he has the ability to keep his seminars simple enough that even I can understand them and stay awake during them.
