Classic. Still waitin' for the pics of that river monster seedubbyasee. Any progress on that front? I gotta glimpse that beast. Dollars to donuts Gavin is breathin' heavy and sleepin' hard right now and is fixin' to have one hell of a headache in the morning.

That's gonna be an expensive rock.

Maybe I'm Just A Little Behind But What Is This?

Out of respect for Phil's house, I'll leave it at this... Owensby, didn't mean to rock your boat, Brother. Just expressing my opinion, same as you. We don't need to drop the gloves to continue this conversation...we'd be better off with a couple brewskies and a camp fire after a fine day of floating and fishing. Hope we get the chance some time. Some of my best friends are very religious. Peace. -

He's supposedly omnisicient (all-knowing), omnipotent (all-powerful), and omnibenevolent (all-good), which makes your argument exactly correct. They blame evil on humans, but if God was all three of the above, he would innately be forced to stop evil, which he clearly hasn't. So either he is not omniscient, omnipotent and omnibenevolent, or he does not exist. The latter makes more sense to me. Read back a little further and you'll see that I've already conceded that all the animal cruelty in the world isn't enough to keep me from eating meat since it is my nature and primal urge to do so. Hypocritical, I suppose. But I still don't get people who can do the dirty work. You'd think God would put an end to such brutality. -
G-Loomis Nrx Rod Fast-Medium-Heavy
eric1978 replied to Tyler's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Wow. And I thought I was nuts paying half-price for a GLX. I've decided that the GL3's are good enough for me from here on out. I'm sure it's a nice rod, but...wow. -
Guess I haven't seen that one. No wonder it looks like Marlon Brando. How's the river lookin' around your usual stomping grounds? Thinking about heading down on Sunday, but I'll be going way high to avoid the crowds. Pretty low right now?

Great fish, Joe! Sexy bod, too. That looks like Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now in that second pic. The horror!

I'll assume you've never had your melon bashed in with a stick so you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Part of the outrage over clubbing the seals was that the people doing it weren't interested in the meat. They clubbed them, skinned them, and left the carcasses on the ground to waste. Disgusting human arrogance at its finest. -

Have you guys ever seen actual footage of it? I have, and it ain't pretty. It's flippin' horrible and disgusting. Comparing an intelligent animal like a seal to a rat is a worthless analogy. That's like comparing dogs and fish. Hey Carp E Diem...Why don't you put a snausage on a hook and take your ultralight outside for a little fun with that cute little weenie-dog? I rest my case. -

I don't know if I'd call anything about that White House "reassuring." Boy, this thread is on thin ice. Agreed. -

Certainly we need to stick together if our rights are being trampled on, but I haven't seen it. Yes, there have been some changes in regulations for commercial fishing, and there are good reasons for those changes. I'm not aware of any infringement on recreational fishing, except in some cases where regulations are established in order to protect a fishery, a habitat, or a species...also good reasons, which I fully support. I will not defend people who exploit nature or treat animals inhumanely simply because they call themselves sportsmen and they feel it is their "right" to do so. Case in point...when PETA protests against clubbing baby seals for their fur, I stand with them. So until I feel that we, the ethical sportmen, are being treated unfairly, I won't be marching on Washington. I see no threat at this point. I am free to float my streams and catch and release my smallmouth, and I'm free to shoot my deer or turkey or rabbit or squirrel if I choose, and any special interest group that pushes for legislation to take that right away from me will be met with such overwhelming opposition that it is no more than laughable. I'll stand shoulder to shoulder with you when the need arises. I don't know how much impact he had on U.S. fishing and hunting regulations. -

They're never going to be able to take away our right to hunt or eat meat and you know it. And for the record, I have NO problem whatsoever with hunters putting food on their table through ethical means of game harvest...I'm more concerned with clean shots than I am with high fences. I personally no longer hunt because I got to the point that I realized I simply don't like killing animals. But I'll continue to eat them even though I feel that way. I can't help it, I'm a human and I eat meat. I'll admit that PETA does some ridiculous things...this latest one with the fish is totally absurd. But you can't completely disregard the fact that in some cases PETA is right, and there are animal abuses occurring that are absolutely outrageous and should not be tolerated. It's not black and white with me, but I guess it is for some people. -

I'd like to hear you try to defend it. And don't tell me you have one cow and one pig and one chicken that range free and eat organic...I'm not talking about the small farmer...I'm talking Tyson. Ever seen the footage of their factory? You probably should. -
I'm renaming you DuckyLucky. Sounds like an amazing trip. Hope to hear more about it later.

eric1978 replied to Stockton Lake Guide Service's topic in Stockton Lake
No, I'm saying YOU are. I'm a person who's for the ethical treatment of animals. But PETA goes beyond that to ridiculous extremes, and because of that they don't get my support. Humans are omnivores and have evolved with the physical means to chew and digest meat, therefore we always have and always will eat animals and there's no reason not to. It's completely natural and there's no ethical violation in assuming our role on the food chain. But we're also lazy, barbaric gluttons, who treat creatures like inanimate objects that can't feel pain or suffering. To deny that is just willful ignorance. I think it's despicable the way that we raise livestock in this country or brutally kill other animals to exploit some "useful" part of them, but it's still not enough to keep me from having a steak...it's my nature, just like the scorpion that stung the frog. I do appreciate some of the work PETA does, but I think they would have much broader support and respect if they kept their agendas more reasonable. This latest thing with renaming the fish is just insane...they sure pull hard against that hook for them to be in as much pain as they say. If I had a Sammy stuck to my face, I'd move as swiftly as I could towards whomever was reeling me in. -

Huh? So if you fight against the inhumane treatment of animals, you're not Christian? Do you really think Jesus would be supportive of clubbing baby seals or torturing animals? I'm so tired of modern Christians cherry-picking which parts of the bible they want to follow and which they discard because it's not convenient. Get out the red button. -

How Safe Are Personal Pontoons On Tailwaters?
eric1978 replied to Rocky's topic in General Angling Discussion
They're like paddling barges. I'd recommend getting a tandem canoe or a couple kayaks or solo canoes. Toons are a pain in the butt if you ask me and don't do anything better than canoes or yaks. I had a Water Skeeter for a while...I happily sold it. -
That Wrench is a good turd. darn fine mechanic, too, from what I've seen.

I wouldn't use chartreuse as a bottom bouncing bait...use your natural colors for that. But anytime you're fishing a bait on or just under the surface, and the fish are looking up at it, especially with a background of trees, chartreuse is a great color. I can't tell you how many fish I've caught in gin-clear water on a big ugly chartreuse spinnerbait.
-
Wrong! Try that chartreuse out the next time you go...it'll work. I had to set up shop in the closet...two cats and tying materials don't mix.

Little Piney, Mill, Spring Creek
eric1978 replied to ozark trout fisher's topic in Big/Little Piney River
Good luck with that...I'd say you're only making it worse by drawing more attention to those streams. I happen to agree with you, but it's not like anyone is gonna listen. -
If you guys weren't dragging your canoes through weeds to get to the river, I'd say that was the Newburg access on LP in the bridge pic...but I guess it isn't even though it looks just like it.
