I gave the A rig a try on a couple of timbered 45° banks up the James yesterday. NA DA. I prolly will wait a while before I do it again.

OK I'm impressed. I don't have the patience to throw that small of a jig. I can barely wait on a 1/16. Good job. You did better than I did for sure.

It has been a long time since it has been mentioned. I am getting ready to wipe the dust off my FnF setups. Do any of you guys still use it?

Fish the A rig any where you would fish a deep crank...I haven't started using it yet this year but I will shortly. I catch a lot more fish on the Rock and Bull with the A rig than I do on Stockton.

Actually the fish is only about 2" long. All of the walleye which we kept had them in their stomachs. The best walleye was around 3#..

The more I look at it the more I think it Is a "dead" blue gill. Thanks. Blue gill didn't even cross my mind.

This came from the stomach of a walleye caught and cleaned this week at Stockton. It was about 2" long.

Thanks guys. I think they are about 2" long. I probably have 30 different color combinations of them. I make all of my own baits except for top waters and crank baits so I spend a lot of time fooling around in the garage making stuff and experimenting with color combinations. I used to make slab buster type baits but these out catch them so I don't use them much any more.

Don't mind at all. We were using a plastic bait that I make called a stinger. We caught fish on several different colors the walleye were partial to something containing chartreuse but the specs didn't seem to care much. Mostly they weren't interested in anything. A bud of mine fished the other arm Tuesday and only could muster up 2 and they were in 35' in brush. Here are a few of them.

We decided to catch some eaters then go bass fishing. We never got to bass fishing. Crappie and walleye fishing was tough. We worked all day for 5 keeper walleye and 8 keeper crappie. We did catch 10 short crappie and 10 bass just to keep us going. I thought with the front coming through in the pm that there might be a good morning bite. What do I know. What little bite that there was quit when the wind switched to the west. The shallowest fish we caught was 30 feet deep. The fish were in or near brush.

Can't get past the froggy smell that they have.

Got it thanks. I just didn't want to drive down there and have to turn around and come back. N. side of Mutton should be all dry. Hope to toss an A rig and jerk bait along with some jigs of course.

I am planning a bit of a trip on Wednesday. Is there any ice in the ramp coves or on the ramps? I haven't heard how much precipitation they got down that way.

I think you are good to go cleaning them once the boat is off the water. I have done it a lot. Last year I had an MDC agent stop where I was cleaning crappie at the Mutton Creek ramp. He didn't say anything about what I was doing. He just wanted to see what size they were. A cooler is not in the picture as I run a glitter sled that doesn't have floor space for one. I guess I'll try the aerator with the live wells open next time and see if that improves anything. As for where we caught fish we covered a lot of area fishing points, cuts, coves, bluff ends and brush. We found fish from 25 to 35 feet. Most were close to the bottom. We saw a lot of fish suspended but couldn't get them to take my itty bitty home made baits.

That stuff is just nasty. I'm trying to find a way to lessen it. Yesterday I had 13 crappie in one well and 3 walleye and 4 whites in the other one. When I took the fish out the crappie well was so nasty it would barely drain. The walleye/white well was pretty clean. I had filled the wells, closed them off and run the recirculating pumps with the oxygenators on. Is there a better way to do this or are they always this nasty?

It didn't work when they tried to get rid of coyotes a few decades ago.

They are also called Arkansas Short nosed crappie and were supposedly first found about 30 years ago in the White River.

There are a bunch of them in the James River Arm of Table Rock.

There has been a COE rule for quite some time about how close you can fish to a marina dock. Mutton Creek even has the boundary marked.

I have tried both my phone and puter trying to get temps today but none show. Anyone know why?

There are 3 area places: Orleans Trail, West Side, and Son Sac. I have had work done at all three. I imagine Ryan at Orleans is covered up winterizing the boats in the marina. Bill at Son Sac is a good wrench.

If you run aerators along with electronics 800 CCA may not be enough. I had less than a year old fail to start my Optimax so I went up to 1150 CCA and ran it for over 4 years trouble free.

My regular engine tech had me change out the gas line in my boat. He said ethanol would dissolve the lining of the hose and stop up my injectors. I'll keep on buying 91 octane ethanol free gasoline and use it in my small motors and my Verado.

I went to Stockton lake and fished for crappie and walleye with my S-I-L. We caught several crappie and 5 walleye. We brought home 4 of the walleye and 17 crappie.
