  1. Well that pond kicked my butt every day. The best day I had was 10 short fish on a tube. I did catch one 5# on a spinnerbait in Martin's flat. The good note is maybe in finally got the p2p right on my rig. I picked up 300 rpms and 4 mph by raising the motor 2.75 inches to a 3.75 p2p. The hole shot dropped from 7 to 3.5 seconds which is major.
  2. I decided to give Pom a shot. I pulled my camper down Friday and hit the water. It was way tougher than Stockton. It only gave up 5 bass. At least one was a 5 pounder. They came on spinner baits. Yesterday I went with a friend in his boat. We fished the dam area and had 6. Most of them were also on spinner baits. Today we are going up the Pom.
  3. I took a guy Thurs back to Stockton. We went early because of predicted heat. Bass wouldn't even look at a buzz bait. We caught a few on square bills and lipless cranks. Pard lost a real good one and we missed a few on cranks. The best bait of the day was a slow rolled spinner bait. Both basics like chartreuse and really flashy baits worked. We wound up catching 30 with only 4 skinny keepers. I'm off to Pommy to try my luck nextweek.
  4. but there were lots of them. Bear and I fished from 2 pm 'til 7 pm from Hartley to a few miles above Birch's Branch. We caught 42 largemouth and spots with one I'm pretty sure meanmouth thrown in. Only 4 of them would measure but they were fun. We caught them on creature baits, tubes, spinner baits and buzz baits. They were along bluff ends and channel swings.
  5. Yep sounds like a good time. I hope that there is an afternoon bite tomorrow.
  6. Please report back I'm going out of Hartley Monday pm.
  7. Thanks. My wife saw it. She said, "That is the prettiest boat I have ever seen," and crawled up in it at the dealership. End of story. Now if I could get her to look at new trucks I'd be set.
  8. Yep it was site 5. I plan to be there the last week of the month in a different site. Drop by if you have time.
  9. Do you recognize the back ground? It is on your lot just below your office.
  10. I never thought I'd own one but they have made significant changes in the last few years. I bought a Nitro Z20. It has a 250 Mercury Verado Pro four stroker on it. A 36 volt MG X5 trolling motor, power poles, hot foot and Lowrance hds units with structure scan front and back. It is quite different from my other boat but I am learning to really like it, especially that quiet Verado.
  11. Yep that is what I have been told. Well I just bought a new glitter sled and it isn't likely to see any bleach and it will only be out in the sun when I am at the lake. So my best bet is to avoid lakes that have those critters in them.
  12. I am partial to Lowrance because I understand their terminology. I can't do anything with a Bird when with a friend who owns one. I like the HDS series with structure scan and chirp.
  13. Only one time after the water dropped. I was astounded at the millions of dead Zebra Muscles on the trees. I don't plan to put my boat back in there. I don't want to be the one responsible for spreading them to Stockton or Pommy.
  14. I had the same thing happen to my old Optimax 2 different times over the years. Both times it took a new upper oil tank to fix it.
  15. My s-i-l and I hit the water around 11:30 this morning. We launched at Hartley. There were more boats in the lot than I have seen the last several times I have been to Stockton. We worked our way to the dam and back. We caught fish on tubes, swing jigs, spinner baits and buzz baits. There were lots of shorts and only 4 keepers. We wound up catching 35 bass and 1 walleye. We quit at 6 pm and headed on home. It was a pretty good day to be on the water even if the temp was a bit too high.
  16. This is not a fishing story since I haven't been either. This is an otter story. Last fall I was at Bait Masters waiting to make a purchase. The guy in front of me was buying a license. I asked him if he were getting a deer tag. He told me no it was a trapping license. He said he was going after otter. I ask him if there were enough to trap as I have only seen 2 on the main lake. He said that in the winter of 2015 he trapped 67 of them. So I guess there are more than we think. As for mink I saw 5 on the point by the boat docks in Hawker the last time I was in there.
  17. A friend of mine used to work for Spfld City Utilities. He told me it was 1 million gallons per day when in full swing. Evaporation is probably more than that.
  18. I don't think that they are all that bad for trolling motors but personally I want a heavy duty cranker with lots of CCAs. I have 3 hds units, 2 point one antennas, power poles, and live wells pulling juice all the time. I just don't have confidence in a dual purpose battery.
  19. It should be no problem at either one of them. High Point and Cedar Ridge are the shortest ramps that I have used. I'm planning on putting it at Hartley in the morning looking for some green and some brown fish.
  20. Typically the main lake is best when the water temp gets to 65° or below and the wind is blowing. I plan to be on Pom the last week of Sept. I'll prolly fish for them a time or two.
  21. Thanks. I hadn't thought of them.
  22. I'm needing one put on my new rig. I have done it myself in the past but am having some issues that are keeping me from doing it. Who in the Spfld area does this kind of work?
  23. It must have evaporated on the way to the lake. It shows the same as it did a week ago.
  24. Heading for CC area from Rouark Bluff, Chicken Rock is on the east side of the lake. It is where the lake takes a bend back to the west. There are several coves just past it then a long bluff and Birch's Branch.
