Champion never was a favorite of Genmar because it didn't have the publicity of Rangers so the profit margin was lower. The first thing Jacobs did when Genmar moved Champion to TN was make them give up their 10 biggest dealerships to Ranger. So I guess this is just a carry over.

I make my own molds but not with pop. You can slowly cure it in a oven. Then you can use Elmer's glue and water and brush on a finish. What heat source are you using? Do you wear a respirator? Do you have protective eye wear and hand wear? What brand and grade of plastic are you using?

I have not seen a major shad kill on the reservoirs north of Springfield. They don't have threadfins and those are normally the ones that die off by the gazillions in TR which the trout guys seem to love.

Most small dealerships don't buy enough to get loose motors. If you can't find one at Bass Pro then your best bet would be to try one through a boat manufacturer if you have a connection.

A couple of guys yesterday tried Crabtree and found the ramp slick a snot. They backtracked to Masters and found themselves pretty much himmed in. Spent the day biteless.

Bob B cleaned off the ramp at Old State Park a couple of days ago. Mostly you get hard water up the rivers and creeks unless it is really cold like a couple of weeks ago.

Uhmm since my drive has 6" of snow and my road 2" of ice since the plow. I think I'll wait a few days and read some books till some of the roads and pk. lots are clear. I did one squirrely slide down CC ramp once and was about to bail when I stopped. I can't keep from thinking about those guys on TCOMO and the van when one of them died.

I don't think the temperature of the room makes a bit of difference. It does for me. I only pour my 1/16 and 1/32 minnow heads in the summer. Otherwise it is a big mess.

I have tried them all. I finally settled on the Alberto's for line to line and the 16/20 for line to bait.

I have poured 10s of 1000s of jigs. All molds and sizes withing molds are different. All lead is different. Most of it contains antimony or other stuff. Pure lead melts at 621°F. That being said you probaly don't have pure lead so higher heat will probably be needed. Some things for you to do: Plug in your pot and put the mold on top of it. Put the hooks some place where they can get warmed up (base of mold, under a heat lamp, etc). When the lead if flowing freely, flux it with some candle or bee's wax. Try some pours. If that doesn't work then you have two choices: smoke your mold with a candle or wait till warm weather. I have over 20 molds and have only had to smoke one of them. Usually heating everything up and fluxing fixes my pours.

What you are talking about is the way bass clubs used to be. That is not what the ones around my area are not. They are just regular monthly money derbies with a very loose structure and no real meeting structure. Most of them do compete as boat teams but normally they fish with the same guys all the time.
