  1. The utc thingy worked. I had time on my Gen 3s all day long.
  2. We went to Rouark. All the lanes were ice covered from earlier launches. It was 30° and it was going to be a while so we went to Mutton Campground launch. We moved around trying several spots at several depths with no bites. I finally got a couple of bites and had shorts. We tired of the spot and moved on. We hit bluff banks, gravel banks, points, etc. After an hour or so of changing baits my partner caught some shorts on spring cricket. I caught some on baby bass but mostly shorts. Drug out electric chicken and began to catch enough that he quit changing colors and put one on. We wound up catching 30 crappie, 15 whites, and 1 keeper walleye. Only 8 of the crappie would measure. I brought them and the walleye home. The whites were here and there but we found a concentration at 35 to 40' on a point. After 10 in that many minutes we moved on because if there were any crappie the whites would not let them bite. I'm thinking a guy could catch a boat load of whites with a spoon if he wanted to have fun and the lake doesn't freeze over.
  3. That won't fix the time. It is a computer chip inside the gps. A third party made it. Lowrance is working with them to try to get an upgrade that will fix it. What I am trying to do is use my point 1 external gps antenna as a utc time source so I can have the time on my Gen 3 units.
  4. There is a gps chip that couldn't do some kind of clock change back in October. It seems to be very wide spread. Gen 2 units are all that I have heard about.
  5. Anyone been out? Crappie/walleye success?
  6. If so has your time gone on the fritz?
  7. They are home made. They are similar to the Bobby Garland baby shad except mine have bulging eyes and a fatter belly. They are from a Jacob's mold. I make all of my own baits except crankbaits, jerkbaits, and top waters. I've been making baits since Shep was a pup. I only use the wg when I am fishing in laydown. They don't seem to be necessary in the rocks and mud.
  8. I'm not sure that the marina is open this time of year. You might want to call ahead and find out for sure. I don't know if they are open or not but Mutton Creek Marina has a café and motel.
  9. Here you go Walcrabass. These are my monkey milk and a box prerigged. I carry close to 30 colors of them. I normally only fish for crappie in the winter. My opinion is there is a color that they will hit if you change often enough you will find it.
  10. OOps that is what comes from not doing careful reading. I am and have always been a ready fire aim guy. I'll see if I have some someplace.
  11. No pics to send. I did not keep any of the fish. I plan to go Wednesday. If I keep some I can take a pic or 2 if you want.
  12. I have a bunch of them that I had made at the local upholstery shop. I had a lot of surplus vinyl from an old tonneau cover. They provided the Velcro and made them for $3 each.
  13. You might want to go to Bass Boat Central and look in the Garmin interpretation forum. They should have lots of screen shots for you to peruse.

I fished for crappie. I had 21 with 13 of them keepers. My fish were + - 30' deep. I caught them on home made stingers in baby bass and my version of the electric chicken. I talked to a guy on the parking lot who caught 10 blacks with 5 of them keepers on crank baits.
  15. Just give it some time then you will be there. I'm 3 years older than dirt. I carry 20 setups and change line often. In fact I remember when they dug the ditch for James River.
  16. I am a toy guy. My wife recently saw an item on Facebook that caught my attention. I have old arthritic hands and old eyes. I carry a lot of setups and change line often. I just had to get this gizmo. It works like a charm. It is the RTD from erupt fishing https://www.co-anglers.com/patented-rtd-rod-threading-device-offers-relief-for-common-fishing-headaches/#
  17. I am using the Precision Sonar cable guard on my ulterra with the total scan transducer. It is working just fine for me.
  18. Sounds like a Ford. Yes you can by choosing the doors to not lock when you get in and take off.
  19. There are several reasons for that interference. On that comes to mind is "cross talk" with your other unit if they are running on the same frequency.
  20. I suspect that the universal transducer may be causing the issue. If you have access to a regular Lowrance transducer you might hook it up to the hds and see if that solves the problem.
  21. Well I guess more than one of us has a similar rant. Terrierman you are correct but I didn't think "Half of the people are below the median", would get much response.
  22. I'd rather be lucky than good any old time. Last time out I caught a whopping 3 and the guy in the back caught 5. All I do is move extremely slowly (about 1 to 1 1/2 speed on the trolling motor, keeping an eye on the sonar/down scan screen. When I see something that looks promising I drop a stinger down into it and hope for a bite.
  23. I had my previous boat done at Championship Marine a few years ago. It ran around $1200 for them to take off the old and put on new. They did an excellent job. I talked to a guy yesterday who mentioned that his brother had one done by Gibbs Upholstery in Republic and was satisfied. He did not mention the cost.
  24. I never got a bite until the fog lifted. I caught 21 with 13 keepers on my stingers mostly baby bass and my version of the electric chicken. I fished channel bends, bluffs, and points. I fished from 27-35' deep. The fish were real close to the bottom. I also had 3 walleye and 1 channel cat.
  25. And I met several of them this morning. I drove to Stockton after the weather guesser said the farther north the less fog. WRONG. Anyway the fog was from moderate to thick as pea soup. At least 1 of every 3 vehicles that I met were driving without their lights on. White ones and gray ones were just there with no advance sighting. End of rant.
