  1. Haven't you ever heard of night time brush pile planting? Evidently many have as there are brush piles on every point and in every cove in that lake.
  2. techo you obviously aren't the average glitter sled buyer. You have more brain cells than they do.
  3. Your average boat buyer is only interested in a few things and the bottom line isn't one of them. He wants to know if you can cover his upside downess in his current boat, can you cover the sales tax, and how big is the payment. He doesn't pay much attention to interest rates or length of the loan.
  4. Champion never was a favorite of Genmar because it didn't have the publicity of Rangers so the profit margin was lower. The first thing Jacobs did when Genmar moved Champion to TN was make them give up their 10 biggest dealerships to Ranger. So I guess this is just a carry over.
  5. That is a very good way to save fish. I have been using it for several years, especially with smallmouth and tubes.
  6. I make my own molds but not with pop. You can slowly cure it in a oven. Then you can use Elmer's glue and water and brush on a finish. You will need to use some type of oil before you pour to keep the baits from sticking. Like stated, www.tackleunderground.com is a great place. You can go there and read stuff for newbies and get all kinds of info. There is also a plastic cookbook section. If you read all the info there you won't have time to make any baits for the nest 5 years or so. Register and then you can login and ask questions but please read first to get some basic info. What heat source are you using? Do you wear a respirator? Do you have protective eye wear and hand wear? What brand and grade of plastic are you using?
  7. Well it looks like Jacobs didn't get his hands on Ranger and Champion again. That is a good thing as far as I am concerned. I figured his pockets were deep enough to get them.
  8. I've made a plastic bait or two in my time. What is it that you want to know?
  9. You can release them gently. Check page 10 of this: http://www.wildtroutstreams.com/CatchRelease/catch_and_release_review_and_guidelines.pdf I do it all winter long to all species.
  10. That sounds like Agent Farwell. He has no fear, day or night, hot or cold.
  11. I have not seen a major shad kill on the reservoirs north of Springfield. They don't have threadfins and those are normally the ones that die off by the gazillions in TR which the trout guys seem to love.
  12. Most small dealerships don't buy enough to get loose motors. If you can't find one at Bass Pro then your best bet would be to try one through a boat manufacturer if you have a connection.
  13. A couple of guys yesterday tried Crabtree and found the ramp slick a snot. They backtracked to Masters and found themselves pretty much himmed in. Spent the day biteless.
  14. Bob B cleaned off the ramp at Old State Park a couple of days ago. Mostly you get hard water up the rivers and creeks unless it is really cold like a couple of weeks ago.
  15. Check your pm.
  16. Uhmm since my drive has 6" of snow and my road 2" of ice since the plow. I think I'll wait a few days and read some books till some of the roads and pk. lots are clear. I did one squirrely slide down CC ramp once and was about to bail when I stopped. I can't keep from thinking about those guys on TCOMO and the van when one of them died.
  17. Is this a freebie or is there a cover charge?
  18. Since you already have the tractor loaded, do you want to plow my drive and street so I can get my stuff out. How much snow did you folks get down that way?
  19. I don't think the temperature of the room makes a bit of difference. It does for me. I only pour my 1/16 and 1/32 minnow heads in the summer. Otherwise it is a big mess.
  20. I think you are making progress already. Report back and let us know how it goes.

I have tried them all. I finally settled on the Alberto's for line to line and the 16/20 for line to bait.
  22. I have poured 10s of 1000s of jigs. All molds and sizes withing molds are different. All lead is different. Most of it contains antimony or other stuff. Pure lead melts at 621°F. That being said you probaly don't have pure lead so higher heat will probably be needed. Some things for you to do: Plug in your pot and put the mold on top of it. Put the hooks some place where they can get warmed up (base of mold, under a heat lamp, etc). When the lead if flowing freely, flux it with some candle or bee's wax. Try some pours. If that doesn't work then you have two choices: smoke your mold with a candle or wait till warm weather. I have over 20 molds and have only had to smoke one of them. Usually heating everything up and fluxing fixes my pours.
  23. I have heard a lot of good stuff about Cooks if that is what you mean here is a link. http://www.cookstacklesystems.com/
  24. That is so true. I never have the right stuff when I fish with another guy.
  25. What you are talking about is the way bass clubs used to be. That is not what the ones around my area are not. They are just regular monthly money derbies with a very loose structure and no real meeting structure. Most of them do compete as boat teams but normally they fish with the same guys all the time.
