  1. To save money you might go to pre painted heads bought from some small company.
  2. Fluid bed is what it is called when you have an air chamber with a paint cup above it. The air causes the powder paint to suspend and allows a good even coating with minimal use of paint. They are pricey but can be built for less than $40. They give a good even finish to the jigs. http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/paint-dipping...6020000002.aspx
  3. I don't have a clue but I guess I are one and so are you according to Phil. Maybe if we post enough we will become carp or drum.
  4. You are correct about the finding and catching but, have you ever been way out from the bank and on to fish and in some wind and had the boat keep getting out of position and had a hard time relocating the fish and getting frustrated? If so, then you would be amazed at how you can stay of fish and keep catching them if you mark your spot on a gps and zoom all the way in. You can keep to with in a few feet instead of maybe a few hundred feet. You can also vertical fish down a bank and mark way points where you catch fish then double back and go along the gps trail that was laid and fish the exact same spots over and over and over if you wish. I only need 2 good functioning items on the boat: a good strong trolling motor and a good depthfinder/gps unit.
  5. The new electronics have opened a whole world of off bank fishing. I really like to get out there and fish stuff where the fish haven't seen a gazillion baits that week.
  6. That is a whole can of worms that you are fixing to open. There are lots of good molds. Do-It is the only company whose molds I have. Things you will need: Mold $30-45@ Lee Lead pot $50 Lead $2 per pound if you have to buy it Hooks Powder paint $6 for 2 oz Fluid bed $100 Toaster oven $39 That is for the first jig head. After that one the cost seems to go down a bit. Unless you get your hooks in 1000 quanities you will pay through the nose for them. Also if you only plan to use say 10 dz a year you probably could buy them cheaper. That being said I like ball and minnow heads in 1/16, 1/8, and 1/4 oz. Go to the Do-It website and see what all they have to offer. BPS only carries a smidgen of the total offerings.
  7. I have some stuff coming up in my cold crop section. I have new strawberries to plant and some other cold crops. I put in my order for both plantings of tomatoes yesterday.
  8. I'm thinking a couple of more weeks. I don't even know of much happening all the way to KDock and they have to migrate from somewhere. Maybe they are not back yet as good as we thought.
  9. It could be as simple as the drag washers not being installed properly. I have been using Shimano baitcasters for years and have never experienced any binding. The spinning reels do this when the anti reverse clutch gets wet. If you want some advice from a reel tech, call 417-887-7334 ask for Bob at the reel repair in the catalog outlet. He is pretty knowledgeable and helpful. There is also a Shimano help forum on Bass Resource where you can post this directly to a Shimano tech.
  10. I fished BC today and had hand sized whites which I could count on one hand. I think I am going to save some money and stay home for a while.
  11. I watched that game. It was nice to see a team of Yeomen playing together instead of a few super stars showboating.
  12. I saw a bunch of them at Bass Pro Catalog outlet a while back. I thought about one for my old tub but didn't know enough to buy or not.
  13. So what is his hourly wage? BTW: Ulrich didn't go out of business. He just moved it down by where he lives, Kimberling City, and got a pot of money for his land outside Republic.
  14. I know some guys who go there every year and catch lots of big smallmouth. They also knock off a few props and lower units.

    Mccord Bend

You might if you go back up in Aunt's creek or Piney.
  16. In that price range you can't go wrong with a Shimano Citica. Used hard and properly maintained it will probably last 30-40 years. If you bump up the range then the Curado will fit and is a great reel. I don't own any other brands so I can't speak to them but the returned reels at the BPS outlet should give a clue as to what not to buy.
  17. I use Janns, Barlows, Stamina, Ztackle, fishing world.com that I can recall right off hand. There is also BPS and Cabela's not to mention Gander Mountain.
  18. They are biting at Beaver Lake. The are getting them at LOZ. They are up the James. They can be caught in the Turnback. Get them at Aldrich. Grand lake is on fire. A bunch came in at Beaver Creek. Lower Bullshoals is hot for all species. Too many places, too many fish, not enough time or money to hit them all. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

    Help!

Maybe one of these will work for you. http://www.bootsnall.com/camping/p-35374-d...campground.html http://www.beaverlakehideaway.com/

If the dinks are there, then the big mommas aren't far behind.
  21. 520s and 522s are being closed out all over the country. You can save from $1-200 on them.
  22. The best advice I can give you is to try to go someplace and get both of them in your hands. I bit on a couple of good rods and ordered them. One of them was a $250 mistake. It sounded good and all of that but it was way to stiff for the applications I had in mind. The bend of the rods will tell you what you want to know. I have never used that blank but I did buy 5 St Croix Avids last year and am happy with them.
  23. That is Asher's Cane Bottom. It is now a subdivision called Walnut Springs. It is up the James River about 10-12 miles from the Cape Fair Public Use Area.
  24. I haven't heard a word on it yet.
