It was a great time visiting with everyone Saturday at the Grand Opening at Fowkes Backcountry Outfitters. Good to see and visit with everyone and hope you all had a good time and got plenty to eat.

Ronnie brought by three sets of flies to BCO - One for me, and one each for Duane and Mona Chari... Well, someone apparently thought they needed them worse than we did, because they have disappeared from the shop. I feel really bad because I was showing off all of the work that went into the flies with the guys that come in and shoot the bull at the front table. But somebody must have seen them on the table and "five finger discounted" them and now Duane and Mona Chari have no flies, nor do I. I don't care so much about mine, but really am at odds with the fact that they didn't get theirs. If you feel like doing me and them a favor and tying up a couple of your flies for them, I would appreciate it. Don't worry about mine. I appreciate what you guys did and was impressed with the flies I got. As for whomever decided they needed them worse, I hope... well... nevermind... I'll not stoop to that.

Just be sure to get there before Russ... He can eat 6 at a time... in one bite... Got the new table and chairs in today and ready for the fly tying and seminars Tim is planning. Got to come by and check it out for sure now... By the way... There should be at least FIVE drift boats parked in front... If you have a drift boat, come on by and show it off!!!

Well, that is the fly that we were talking about, but I'll let anyone submit a fly in the contest. As long as it's close, I'm sure it will get votes. It's all about the money for PHW anyway...

Al's spirit will live on in the many lives he touched with his smooth demeanor and the lessons he taught. He was a true treasure that will be greatly missed by us all... God Bless you Al...

The Grand Opening of Fowkes Backcountry Outfitters will be Saturday, February 20th from 9am - 6pm. There will be specials, prizes, and a fly tying contest to benefit Project Healing Waters. Duane and Mona Chari Doty will be there to talk about their new adventure at Bristol Bay, Alaska. Ken, Kevin, and Zack from Just Fishing Guides will be there with their drift boats in tow to talk about their guide service. Terry and Roxanne Wilson will be there signing books and talking about warm water fishing. Rick Coffman with liv2flyfish.com radio will be there from 3-6 getting your "Well Known Secrets" which puts you in a drawing for a prize from him. Several fly tiers will be there showing off their skills and flies. There will be food available (I think Tim is going to fire up the grill for some hot dogs...) We'll probably get the casting pond up and you can cast that rod you've been wanting to try out. More on the fly tying contest... Tie up your best "Patriot" fly and bring it in between now and Friday the 19th. We'll put it on display with the others and take "votes" in the form of $$s... The fly with the most votes will win a prize. All the money will go to Project Healing Waters - Springfield. Come on by for a good time and check things out! If you haven't been by yet, you'll see some changes we think you'll like!!!! We're on South Campbell north of Battlefield and across from Incredible Pizza. Or just look for the drift boats parked out front...

Larry, I think if you stand out in front of the fly shop every day for five minutes every hour and do the Pee Wee Herman dance, the snow will be gone by June... Try it!!!

OK... after some thought, here are some rule changes... RULES Videos submitted must be produced by those submitting. No videos produced by professional production companies. All entries are to be submitted in in THESE TWO formats: 1. Digital format suitable for play using Windows Media Player, QickTime, Adobe Flash, or similar player. 2. DVD (preferably mini DV) Video must not contain any unsuitable or objectionable material. Background music must be clear of any copyright restrictions. All video becomes the property of the Southern Council FFF at time of submission. Video must be no more than ten minutes in length. Other rules may apply prior to judging. Entries must be received before midnight August 15th, 2010. For information on where to submit, email tbeeson@hotmail.com

Awards: Best Picture Club Promotional – Video used for the purpose of gaining membership in the FFF and/or local FFF club. Awards: Best Picture Funniest Video RULES All entries are to be submitted in digital format suitable for playing on television screen and overhead projection. Got mine and Doty and MC's flies at the shop yesterday (thanks Ronnie) and I'm impressed! as were several guys who came in the shop and looked them over. No hurry Duane and MC, I'll have them broken in for you by the time you get back from Alaska...
