  1. Guys, when I was a kid we lived in Texas and in the summer we would fish up the Brazos River on the big sand flats with lightly weighted rogues, to make easier to cast. We would be in 6 ft of water or less and throw them as far as you could (ie the extra weight) and reel them as fast as you could and stop and start them. Hang on cause it was a violent strike they were angry and the hotter it got the better the fishing was. Deep fishing was 12 ft and then there was the crazy striper guys but thats another discusion altogether. Fish dont all live deep some are happy with their backs outa the water all year.
  2. I fished Sat in the dam area up by point 1,was sitting out off a gravel runout in 40' of water throwing a 3/4oz jig when a pontoon came betweeen me and the point with in less than a cast, and againt my better judgement i let a hard cast rip at the side of his boat. I would have easily hit him with that jig but in my anger and attempt to add something extra to the thump I backlashed my reel, God was stopping me from being stupid I guess. Full plane without care or concern for the water he put over the front of my boat. I know it is my fault for trying to fish in their way but i was not that far off the point, he had 400 yards on the other side of me to go around and I am sure there was an emergency that he was in hurry and had to go right thru there. no courtesy.
  3. You guys know what is really scary about your "Joke" is that it would probably work, and work really well.
  4. Grab you an 1/8th oz jig head and a tube green pumpkin, or natural color, and add a little orange maybe. Get out at 30' to 35' on a point throw it toward shallow water you wanna be fishing 12 to 20 fow let it sink then hop it back and hang on, vary your cadence on your hops. Gravel run outs is a good place to start like the islands between the dam and long creek, dont worry that you may be 50 yards or more from the bank. Also try just letting that tube sit on the bottom and watch your line if the wind is not to bad. Might also try the same thing on the bluffs/chunk rock steep drop banks kinda like the one straight across from Long Creek from the bridge to the west past the resturant.

  21. The problem is phase separation in ethanol fuels from the alcohol. It absorbs water, water and oil dont mix therefore you engine gets water injected into the cylinders. Alcohol also requires different hoses as the rubber in older boats was not designed to carry it so it breaks down and will fill carbuerators with particles and varnish. Its storage life is greatly diminished as well. And yes new engines are designed for it older motors are not.
  22. DIACHI DEATHTRAPS SHARPEST TREBLE EVER MADE!!! AND WELCOME
  23. I hate trying to set a puck with the two part epoxy that comes in the tube and you mix up with a popsicle stick. it is a pain to get the air out to get a good seal. I was wondering if anyone has tried the two part body shop gun applied products, like 3M Automix or Fuzor, with any success in mounting these pucks in your hull. I mean if it can hold the roof of your car on it oughta hold up to a transducer. Any thoughts or concerns?? Thanks in advance. TR
  24. State Farm did the same to me. 2 claims since 06 a theft and a lower unit, i did myself $900.00 . My agent said he tried but I dont think he tried as hard as he could have.24 years everything I have was insured by them. I went with Nationwide, Easy to use and they would insure my boat only. I found them to be cheaper and offer, electronics and tackle coverage as well. Once the mad factor was over of being canceled and getting my new insurance I found out State Farm was screwing me on my boat. I got better coverage for about the same money. All was done over the phone and they have followed up and been very good to deal with.
  25. You can take your boat and trailer to a feed store or recycling depot and they can weight it for you. Towing is alot like driving on ice easy to go harder to stop, Yes all these vehical will have power to pull them but when you get close to the tow rig and the boat being the same weight physics takes over. Trailer brakes that work, and are installed and adjusted correctly are a must when using smaller tow vehicals. Yes the pilots gas mileage wil be better till you load it then once again physics takes over. The pilot will work harder to have to tow the weight than your Tahoe engine does thus lowering mileage. Here is my biggest theroyabout boats and mileage and tow vehical size, how much money are you gonna save if you cant stop when a deer or some idiot pulls out in front of you and you hit them, all your savings just got paid to an insurance company.
