  1. I must ask, are you all fishing rivers with these rods? If so, where? Why the need for a 7' rod? I fish my cranks on 5.5-6' rods and have never found myself wanting for more rod.
  2. I think it was in 2010, we had a blanket of snow from Christmas to early March. Less ticks is a good thing after having Lyme disease.
  3. Last I was in there, Cabela's had a terrible rod selection.
  4. Maybe Roger's Sporting Goods in NKC.
  5. I am definitely looking now. I like the Royalex boats, but can't see spending the price for a new boat. Maybe someone has one that they have used and no longer do.
  6. We had more last March, I think it was.
  7. Our forecast low tonight is -6. I work in a "heated" shop, but will be in and out all night.
  8. Our kids have been out four days so far, one for cold, -30 wind chills...
  9. I like this.
  10. Ness, we are looking at about 9-ish here.
  11. I wasn't specifically asking about spiral wrapping the rods, just why the love fest for micros. Also, 14 micros vs 7 regular, they can't be lighter as a whole.
  12. You, sir, just hit the nail on the head. These fish are foreign to Missouri waters, season should remain as is.
  13. Please excuse my ignorance, but what is the big deal with micros? I understand they are supposed to have less friction, but if that is per guide, more guides equates to about the same friction, if my math is correct. Educate me.
  14. I have. I check it every day or so. They all seem to be RamX, Coleman or Pelican.
  15. I am shopping for a used solo canoe, the closer to KC, the better, but for the right boat, I will drive. I would prefer three layer, fiberglass or royalex. Let me know what you may have via PM, please. Thank you!
  16. Thanks everyone. This river is on my list to hopefully get on this year. I need to explore some more of the Ozarks.
  17. Perhaps it was an exaggeration, but the shaming and mistreating someone legally keeping a big fish, especially trout, is apparent in the tailwaters forums. I don't eat fish other than crappie and bluegills, but the holier than thou attitude prevails for some reason with trophy fish that are at the end of their life cycle. You are right about fish in a barrel. Stream fish must be protected beyond what they are now, but with the current regulations, odds of it are slim to none.
  18. Your statement is true Spoon, however, those people are talked down to and shamed from this site by people who are disgustingly self-righteous and cannot fathom someone enjoying the resource within the law.
  19. I have never been there GD. This is another part of the state.
  20. The Blue River is in KC...what were you wanting to catch? If trout, you will be best served to hit the Niangua or Capps, if smallmouth, stay south of Truman Lake and west of Cape. If you want largemouth and carp, stay home and wade some of the creeks around the lakes.
  21. Here is one looking upstream from the takeout.
  22. GD, I, too spend much more time up here in the KC/Lawrence area fishing for green fish than I do in the Ozarks, but I love to see reports and pictures. With this said, there are certain streams and locales that should not be publicized for they could easily be fished out or have irreparable population damage during certain times of year and under certain conditions.
  23. What is the fishing like and what a re the most productive stretches in your opinions.
  24. I haven't seen an issue with the guides on the rod yet, but for $20, if they crap out, I can buy a set of nice guides and replace them while being money ahead for a nice creek stick that didn't break the bank.
