  1. I completely agree. It is too bad that there are those who still believe that America is the best of the best and can do no wrong. We have done wrong, we are correcting wrong and climate change is a big part of that. We have to minimize our potential impact, but drilling for more oil and other things that create and enable carbon output are not part of that plan.
  2. Right, wrong, right, semi-eh, again semi-eh, right. I guess that you failed to read the current education numbers. Chinese students kick American students' asses in both math and science, so tell me they are educated here. http://www.pbs.org/n...tion_12-10.html There is your data. You can disregard it, along with anything else that doesn't fit your mold of American Exceptionalism, but that is the truth.
  3. Al, I agree with you on this. China is full of very intelligent people.
  4. Big Sugar isn't so big in a normal summer, but this summer it can't be anywhere near floatable.
  5. Ha, you believe the viewpoint that global warming, sorry, climate change, is a hoax? Have you been outside over the course of the last 25 years? Record temperatures for ONE year might be caused from sunspots, but since 1995, all but two years have been a record year. That isn't circumstantial, that is scientific fact. If you dispute that, you are in the minority. We cannot review climate data prior to the late 1800s with any certainty. We can judge what was going on due to other ecological clues, but you cannot even say that we are not in a warming trend over the past 25-50 years. I want you to show me proof, scientific proof, not propaganda, that we are not warming up.
  6. 2-3 trips per month, nothing out of town since January, but I will hit lakes and creeks around home for an hour or two one night most weeks.
  7. Who mentioned carbon credits in this discussion? It is not arrogance. Look at the charts, as man has become more and more advanced, the amount of CO2, and the average temperature have gone up. Anyone saying otherwise is either naive or blind.
  8. The science says that we are warming up, as a result of industrialization. I am of the school of thought that 7 billion people can and do have an impact on this planet. At the rate we are deforesting this country and the world, it is just a matter of time until the whole planet looks like NYC and we can all toss #16 Adams at the common carp.
  9. The glaciers melted over the course of thousands of years, due to a cyclic climactic shift. The cycle you speak of, has cycled much faster due to man's involvement and the creation of excessive greenhouse gases. This is what the science says, and you can choose to refute that or not, but that is what the facts say. If you wish to spin this to suit your viewpoint, be our guest, but the science says that the planet is warming up. This country has to figure out if we want to help the situation or hurt the situation.
  10. Smallmouth and spotted bass are also black bass if you want to get technical. You did well on that gorgeous river.
  11. I am curious, what are you calling a black?
  12. The Little Blue wades well, but it is a mud bottom creek. I have caught 2# largemouth from the creek there on Rebel Teeny Wee Craws.
  13. Unless I am mistaken, there are several accounts of drunken displays from you, long after you were that age. With regards to this story, can you really pin this on my generation? I guess fights during organized protests never happened before Gen X/Y reached this age, right?
  14. If it were in Springfield on a weekend, I would come down. I have been following this thread closely and am in great support of a slot. Perhaps we can figure out a slot limit that would benefit every stream in the Ozarks by increasing the # of fish to 15", as well as allowing more to grow larger than 15".
  15. I think you might be correct Wayne. This cycle shows no signs of slowing any time soon.
  16. I wasn't in time out. I don't have a bunch of time to be on here. I was just offering an opinion of the source site. All media is biased, and this includes print, web, television, etc. I am aware of who Immelt is, believe it or not, but I cannot really say that I am too excited about this November one way or another. It could be positive or negative. One thing that needs to be done is that fracking needs to be stopped. The groundwater pollution is too dangerous to continue to deal with. I can only hope that we can get these kinds of things under control.
  17. You posted something from Breitbart as if it is a revelation. No, it is like everything else on his site, right wing propaganda designed to convince the sheep that will already vote that way to continue voting that way.
  18. I have noticed current stream conditions around me are in the single digit percentiles. It is quite sad, but there is NO water in the ground, and no rain forecast for several more days, and that is a 30% chance.
  19. I say let's try to get something done. This would be cool.
  20. Maybe Thomas Hill would be a good spot to try some pacu?
  21. If trout are your aim, my suggestion is to stay home or hit a park. In the heat and low water, it is bad for the fish. Fish for smallmouth or avoid the smaller creeks altogether.
  22. darn. Wayne, I am kind of dreading the 4th. My father in law is a volunteer firefighter for a township just outside of town here and every year he is out chasing a grass fire or two started by some redneck's great idea, but this year, with the lack of moisture, high heat and winds, we could be in for massive damage. With any luck all of us will wake up on the 5th, to a nice, slow, steady rainstorm that lasts for six days. In all honesty, we just had a rainstorm that went through Topeka, heading ESE, break apart before it got to me, and that is only about 35 miles as the crow flies. I haven't had rain in weeks. Our temperatures have been over 100 for over a week and we will have another week and a half of 98+. This is the worst I have ever seen it in the summer, but I am only 27.
  23. I would be all for it if there were a lake they could survive in, say for instance Thomas Hill, with the warmwater discharge the lake has from its power plant, or other similar waters. I don't think they could live in anything resembling LOZ or Truman for a winter.
  24. Isn't the water too cold in the winter? It isn't like there is great fluctuation in their native waters, is there?
  25. Why is pacu in parentheses? They are called pacu, not something else. It would be cool if they could winter over.
