  1. If you can find me any species of trout that is native to Missouri and still existing in the waters there, I will concede. There is NO native trout to the midwest. Hell, there are no native rainbows east of Nevada. There are no native Cutthroat outside of the Rockies, and there are no native Brookies west of the Appalachians I know for a fact that Crane was stocked in the late '60s. Don't think for a moment that they brought trout from the McCloud River multiple times in the 1900s to stock a creek in Missouri. There is no way in hell that these fish are pure, despite what the state wants to claim or insinuate through their trout propaganda. Beautiful, yes, wild, yes, 100% pure, hell no.
  2. Very interesting indeed, and you, sir, are the forum wise*ss.
  3. Practicality and politics in general don't work hand in hand. Climactic shift is a definite natural occurrence, and to ignore the fact that WE have had major impact on the issue is foolhardy. No one insinuated that conservatives are stupid, just that the conservatives seem to be anti-green as a rule. Not to mention the fact that prominent conservatives are constantly seen railing against global warming, climate shift or whatever you choose to call it.
  4. Exactly, without getting too political or what not, yes.
  5. CDC, I am glad to see you still floating and fishing. You aren't speaking of the guy we dare not mention in civilized conversation, are you?
  6. My Korkers have done well on any stream bottom I have worn them on. I hit some slick mud yesterday in the Wakarusa and I felt pretty confident in my boots.
  7. Eric, climate change is a real, cyclical event that "conservatives" seem to want to dismiss rather than conserve our resources and do something to slow the rapid (in the grand scheme of things) change that man has imposed upon this planet.
  8. Wayne, the Marais Des Cygnes, for its whole length is regarded as a darn good flathead river. I have heard reports around here (it runs fifteen miles south of the house) of people catching 50-60 pound fish from the river.
  9. My lure rotation on creeks (say Big Sugar or smaller) consists of a 77 size diver and a 2.75" soft craw if I am fishing a light power rod.
  10. Mic, your choice in music makes me question a lot of things you say. That music isn't even suitable for a junior high mixer, much less a fishing forum.
  11. In some rail yards, they still have 90# rail Jeff. If you can get in with a contractor or something that is replacing broken rail in a yard, they will often sell you a foot long piece of it. I have about 9" of 90# rail here for a doorstop in my son's room. It works darn well if I may say so myself. FYI, Jeff, they also have 140, 141 and 155# rail that you will occasionally see. The 155 isn't made anymore.
  12. Yeah, last weekend, we had storms go by us with torrential rain and what not. In Lawrence, ten miles north of me, they got 2+ inches of rain in about six hours. We had .3 inches of rain all day. That is just the way our luck has rain lately. The hay is about ready to cut the first time, corn is short and beans aren't doing a whole lot. It is going to be a hot, dry summer and we can't really afford to have another one like last year.
  13. I will be lake fishing. The river above the local lake here wasn't even flowing into the lake as of March 1st. It ran dry three riffles or so above the lake. Our smaller county and city lakes are low. The creeks are all low already. I guess I will be fishing smaller waters.
  14. You are aware that every creek that feeds Grand from the N, NE or E contains Neosho smallmouth, right? These fish may have moved downstream during a high water event and have sought out suitable waters.
  15. I would almost bet it wasn't. There are Neoshos that are in the lake, however, they are super rare. The size would be the absolute top end for them.
  16. Post processing is different than combining two images via Photoshop. I agree with you Matt.
  17. Yep. I love tossing these things on my L action spinning rod in creeks, up here or down in the Ozarks.
  18. Physics states that image of the bass attacking that lure is fake, as is Ron's credibility in defending his photographic integrity. Sorry, but anyone over the age of seven can tell you that bass, did not attack that lure in that spot at that time. The water ripples when a bass attacks a topwater lure because of the rate of motion of the bass. There are so few ripples there that I couldn't fart in the water and come back with less.
  19. That little sauger looks like it may be sublegal.
  20. Wayne, since you asked...Chief was the one manning the camera that day.
  21. I am fascinated by this show. The places he gets to fish astound me, but not so much as the variety of species he chases.
  22. I love shadow bass, one of my favorite fish. I have only caught one, but I want to go wade for more, with these being my target species. They are absolutely gorgeous.
  23. Andy Webb Baldwin City, KS Lone Star Lake 4/9/12
  24. We have them in a lake five minutes from the house, but I have yet to catch one.
