  1. Not worried about the boat, you need to get that kegerator back, with kids you need it more than ever!
  2. I have caught several bonneheads in the keys and they cruise around at the surface on the flats. I'm sure there are some patterns on the internet for them I would think a cuda type tube fly would be the ticket. Fun to catch and good eating for sure, take a little wire for a tippet if targeting them specifically.
  3. I have an employee that starts every sentence with "I took and" did this or "I took" and did that, and then he ends the sentence with "and everything". It is hard for the rest of us not to laugh when he is talking because we all joke about it, but he doesn't realize that he is even doing it and everything.
  4. How can this even be an arguement? They are trying to have a lake small boat people can enjoy without a LOZ wake problem, if you have a boat with a 7 or bigger go elsewhere, pretty cut and dried, unless you are somebody who has to question everything. It doesn't matter why it is the law.
  5. Better make sure you have a heavy leader for sure, the first itty bitty one I caught in the Jupiter inlet put a nice burn on my thumb!!
  6. Snook are good eating though, and easier to keep hooked!
  7. Congrats Phil, 31 years is a long time to stick in the "pimpin" business!
  8. Pimpin' ain't easy in the hail storm we just had sitting on a mower fo sho! Now I'm confused, am I a pimp or not, I need to know what to put on my resume'. The environment is for sure in decline, but it isn't due to the "johns". They didn't fill the nice holes with gravel, erode the banks, widen the rivers, etc. That comes from increased land clearing, more runoff, crazier weather patterns, etc. Once November 1 gets here you will never know that the river had been pimped out for the last 5 months other than a stray beer can or two dropped in by some fishermen after all the stream team cleanups had already been completed. I fully understand people getting upset with how the partiers use the river, but to think they do it actual damage is pretty crazy. If you want to tell me that loggers and cattle farmers and land developers harm the river environment then I might listen. And it is the 48th annual float trip that the dentists I put on the river are on this week, obviously very few if any were on that first float. And yes one of them did get in trouble with the forest service when we put in for peeing in the bushes. Just a suggestion, don't pee openly when you see 3 forest service employees standing there, they frown on that!
  9. It's hard out here for a pimp!
  10. All about the benjamins in the summer and then having the river all to myself for 6 months, looks like someone has it figured out.
  11. Not all rivers are like the Meremec or Niangua during the summer, there are varying degrees of crazy, do your research ask questions and everyone can find a place that suits their needs. Sorry if you have to drive more than 2 hours to find it. And as annoying as the drunks are they don't effect the resource like jetboaters or fishermen.
  12. Is that the last time you got to babysit?
  13. True, we have pretty decent enforcement on NFoW. We have people call and ask about how strict water patrol is, when we get that call we know to send them elsewhere so we don't have to deal with them!
  14. Voluntary manslaughter my guess.
  15. The reason I do what I do is that I love the resource and enjoy sharing it with others. Many party, some too hard, numerous scout troops and church groups come from the asphalt jungles to enjoy a resource that is far from being trashed, thrashed and abused at least as far as the NFoW is concerned. You better believe the bottom line is the most important thing to me as we have an 8 year old girl and 10 year old boy that rely on us to provide for them. I'm sorry your health prevents you from floating as I think if you came and met me and my wife you would probably enjoy our company as many on this forum do. My business may facilitate what you consider to be unethical behavior, but I did not create the industry and am not in charge of it's regulation. I am a business man and you better believe I am biased toward anything that can help my business (within reason), but some actions are actually harming our resource much more than a little noise pollution and trash. The frequent 100 year floods we now have take care of the trash for us but do tons of damage to the natural resource. I have seen huge chunks of virgin banks erode up to 30 feet over the last few years due to the increase in our crazy weather events. Algae blooms occur in the rivers due to the addition of phosphates from fertilizer and waste water treatment plants. These are the true enemies of the natural resource if you are taking it as an ecosystem and not a personal retreat. The hoards of floaters from the major metropolitan areas of St. Louis, and Kansas City are what you seem to have the problem with. Maybe people should be banned if they live in counties that are included in these metropolitan areas, that would get rid of most of the problems. I of course would be against that (as would many on the forum), but that is the kind of solution that would solve the problem. Leave the rivers to those of us who live near them, I can find a new way to scrape by. Now I have to go check on a group of dentists from Kansas City that just showed up in their RV's. This is an annual float for these guys some of whom are going on their 40th year, they will float 2 or 3 days, drink way too much and then head back to KC with some new stories refreshed and ready to head back to work. Dirty resource exploiting bastages!!! mjk you are not stupid, you understand how things work and have learned to work around it. We don't always get our way and have to figure out ways to live with it, it seems like you have even if it doesn't suit you just right.
  16. That's just plain dumb. Like many problems it comes down to law enforcement. We don't ban guns due to murders, we don't ban cars due to drunk drivers. Even most of the fishermen on here would be upset being forced to take a course on river and floater safety etc. Avoid the party rivers in the summertime, let the tourists have their fun, they way outnumber the fishermen and in this country majority rules. If you really want change it will have to be on the county level as each and every river has different problems. Go to your county commissioners and talk to them about the problems that are occurring on your river, they can get with the sheriffs department and if certain laws need to be passed then so be it. No more scout floats, church floats, family floats until you go through a class, won't ever happen and for good reason, just the government sticking it's nose where it shouldn't be. Every day moves me farther to the right!
  17. I always thought the name was a great fit, if he has the passion of the original it should take him places.
  18. I was hoping Pitt State's John Brown would fly under the radar and fall to the Griefs, but Az. picked him up in the 3rd, he could have replaced McCluster and been a recieving threat also. Happy to see him taken however!
  19. I guess I would have to agree, sure many of them are nice dogs, but why take the chance? It's not like the breedis a working breed used for anything other than intimidation. Plenty of other good guard dogs that seem to be less dangerous, sorry pit lovers but I don't see their purpose.
  20. Is it a male pit bull that still has his balls. Even my little Boykin when he encounters another intact male likes to fight and always loses. Many intact males are aggressive toward other dogs so they really must be watched.
  21. Having chicken of the woods fajitas right now with a new belgium ranger ipa, both are soooo good!
  22. Time for a fish fry!
  23. Makes me wonder, would Mizzou be good, or would those guys be on to a different college after being fired or moved up to a bigger "basketball" program.
  24. ouch!
