  1. Nice, I don't think I even own 7x tippet, just shows all the guys breaking off fish need to back off the drag!
  2. I agree with some of that. I wish politicians could just be truthful and tell us that changes need to be made that will make things tougher on everyone but sacrifices must be made. The problem is whichever side says anything negative the other side goes on the attack and makes them the bad party ultimately costing them elections. Campaign contributions stand between the two parties agreeing on a cleaner environment, if the parties could agree that we need to clean up our pollution the nation would have no choice but to get behind it and the "green" industries would pick up jobs that might be lost elsewhere. The "win at all cost" attitude of the parties is bringing our nation down. Each party shares the blame equally, and right now I don't trust either party to successfully run the country because it takes cooperation to get anything done, and right now cooperation is a four letter word in Washington.
  3. I agree Jerry, but if energy rates increase it will hurt us at first and then we will get smarter and learn to conserve and much like higher gas prices we will adjust to a new normal and new technology will even things out with the environment being the beneficiary. Higher energy prices will lead to more private solar arrays and that is what can make a difference one installation at a time. Money will be invested as these new technologies gain popularity and this can all be done in the private sector, it may take carbon taxes to bring about this change, and that will hurt for a while, but we can give up our smart phones, netflix, and hbo if we have to.
  4. Well put fly guy, if we could get money out of politics we would see a quick attitude change from the right, but they are big oil and coals bitch, and it is harming our country and the world, my opinion.
  5. Looked like Dyson was pushed off 2nd by the tag as well.
  6. I will agree, as a whole KC people are much more laid back and easier to deal with than those from St. Louis. That being said some of my favorite people come from the Lou, so there are exceptions.
  7. Say What?
  8. I agree that they do it in jest because they have won plenty more, but I also think they enjoy poking Royals fans a little bit since it is our only crown. Go Cards! Go Royals!
  9. Will do, I think the hatred for Cardinals fans comes from all of them pointing to the missed call in the world series as being the only reason the Royals ever won one. As a Royals fan it is very annoying because that is the first thing they will say when they know you are a Royals fan. I for one like both teams and hope the Royals can win an I-70 world series without a bad call so the Cardinals fans won't have that to lean on anymore!
  10. Forget the research, if you think that the rapid population growth and all the activities that have gone along with it are hurting the planet then you should support changes that encourage us to live cleaner and have smaller impact on the environment. To do this right it will require some sacrifices that many aren't willing to make such as increased energy rates. If you don't think the billions of people on the planet are having a negative impact on the environment then go about business as usual I suppose. Common sense.
  11. I'll let you know about St. Louis fans, I'm taking the wife to the game Sunday!
  12. sounds like it woke up hungry!
  13. Good sour flavor, since yeast is everywhere and in everything I guess you never really know what will take over, is grandma's 50 year old starter the same as it was 50 years ago? Hell if I know.
  14. release to grease, they are tasty!
  15. I think hydrogen peroxide will kill the yeast as well, Amy just put persimmons water and flour and every few days dumped out the mess adding new water and flour to the residue left in the jar. After doing this 3-4 times she had her own strain of yeast that preferred to feed on flour making it a good bread yeast. I'm sure it has evolved from different yeasts finding there way in, I wouldn't worry about bacteria, if the starter fails just try again. She also used wild grapes in her starter and let the yeasts battle it out.
  16. Let me get back to you, that's not my department.
  17. You are in our thoughts and prayers Jim.
  18. Several met the windshield heading up hwy 13 the other day.
  19. We almost exclusively eat sourdough from Amy's starter, kids use it everyday on sandwiches for their lunches, she made her own using the naturally occurring yeast from some persimmons. It has been going crazy lately and rising very quickly without adding any bread yeast. Also use king arthur bread flour and it puts store bought bread to shame, she makes a couple loaves every other day.
  20. The atmosphere at the K was electric Sunday night. Had a great time taking the boy and we both enjoyed ourselves greatly! It was my first time back to the K since the renovations and they have done a great job, that stadium has always been great and the remodel has it right in line with all the new stadiums! Greg Pryor (1985 Royals infielder) was at our tailgate party and he was kind enough to give Eli an autographed picture and show him his world series ring. Now it's time to whip those dirty birds!
  21. Billet, Amy just told me we had Chicken of the woods, which are orange, so I was wrong about the type.
  22. You do what you gotta do Jerry, it's been a long time!
  23. Amy found it somewhere I had never seen it either. Not sure what the problem was, like I said I had eaten them for years with no problem. We made fajitas with them, worst night ever, and second time was a soup, not quite as bad. Amy just said another site said 1-3% get sick, so pretty slim chance, they used to be my favorites, but think I will lay off for a while. Both times I had a glass of Almond milk not too long before I started feeling sick, so I wonder if that caused some sort of reaction.
  24. I got sick eating hens a couple weeks ago and thinking it was some old cheesecake that was the problem I ate them again the night of the Royals wild card game. Spent the Royals half of the 10th ralphing, now as a true superstitious fan I eat them before each game and usually puke during extra innings. I used to eat them with no ill effects, but I guess they do make about 5% of people sick.
