Taking My Family To Black, Mo Next Weekend...any Tips?
gdh replied to E Green's topic in General Angling Discussion
i would say you might want to check out the spring at centerville mo first road on the left after a sharp curve heading south the road runs along the river. if you want to eat out for dinner call widerness lodge you will need a reservation . lots of canoe and tube rentals in lesterville . -
just got back from a two week stay if you want info on fishing beartooth outfiters -flyshop dan and nacey. they have a great operation everything you will need they even ship stuff to the branson area for resale by shops there . we fished the madison, yellowstone, beaverhead, and the red river. they closed most of the fishing in the park . ennis mt has some great places to stay and eat . if your looking for a interesting guy to take you out in a drift boat look up leon thaxton he knows the water better than most hes been guiding the area for many years and is a real montana. ive been going ther for many years the ennis area is a special place .

Water Pressure Guage
gdh replied to skeeterfisher's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
i have a simple solution that works great thanks to fred over at ulrich .i have a inline coupling under the dash in the winter just pull the line off and plug the line. yes the gauge does not work in the winter. or i can use it and just pull the line apart at the end of the day to drain the line. hope that helps. -

it sounds like you have a pretty good program on where to be at what time of the year . the brown water can be a problem but if you catch it right it can be very productive if you can keep a fly right next to the bank edge with light fishing presure that time of the year. i used to wade the castor river for those mean light smallmouth alot but i guess my age has slowed me down cant handle the rocks in my shoes like i used to and being a lot slower on my feet with lots of snakes on that little river also keeps me away" i hate snakes" something the rivers of montana no problem with . i like fishing that spring top water stuff on the rock from bluegill to bass its my favorite time of the year here in missouri. sept in montana is unbelivable any time around the 15th with the wildlife and the great fall colors along with the hoppers still around you cant beat it .our place over looks the wall creek area we see elk ,moose, wolves never know what critter will be hanging around the area keeps it interesting along with the drift boats going down the madison. we are going out this year to hit the salmonfly season i hope its always a hit or miss deal . sure keeps my brittney busy she loves it with all the activity. good fishing

hi al thanks for the fishing reports makes me want to jump in the car and head for my cabin on the madison. guess im to much of a fair weather fisherman when it comes to montana this time of year . have done some ice fishing on hegben lake with a wind chill of minus 30 a few times and had a great time in the snow. now i see you or from flat river pretty small world i spend my time in fredericktown ,branson, and montana have never fished the area you have been fishing but it looks interesting ive enjoy reading about your fishing trips and the pictures or great in helping to visualize the adventure of the day. keep up the reports and good fishing

good to see a report from mt and the yellowstone . i have a place in mt that i get to a few times a year its on the madison near the palasades area about 35 miles from west yellowstone. beautiful country but those snow drifts can be a problem . if you get to that area stop by and see the nice folks at the beartooth fly shop near the palasades area about 5miles past cameron if your headed toward west yellowstone . if you ever need info about the madison look up leon thaxton at the madison fly shop in ennis a real interesting guy that has lived and guided on the mt rivers for many many years. good fishing...... the wind is your friend.

Just few comments : the construction tape is ok (for the short term) but might not show members as perhaps they should be . If i wanted to show support for a group or organization i would prefer something more uniformed with the name of the organization on it that i could proudly display regardless of my boat type or even the type of fishing (fly, bass, etc) as being a member. Perhaps the logo on the top of this forums page the stringer of fish in bright colors that would show a special shape and colors that could identify members one as a decal for a boat and a smaller one for a shirt or a vest. Just a thought . I want to thank everyone for the information on this forum it really does help my days on the lake.

bill ,i agree these guy are fishing hard for real bucks and this isnt there first rodeo .
-
i was at the big event and one of the big bags from the back seat guy said he was using a float and fly method . the way he talked i think he was telling the truth . most of the comments about bites came early 7 to 10 .

redbud spectacular rant lower your blood preasure ,enjoy what you can, deal with what you cant change and go fishing . Im going fishing ,may have a flashing light on a pole not to get run over, jet bugs, rafts, big boats or small, life is short lots of fish to chase . look at this way all those boats running around may warm the water alittle besides ,if you had a mess of crappie in the live well and one was a white crappie with the rest being black would you dump them all in the lakebecause one was different.

i have just purchased a hds8 and have only been on the water a couple of hours to play with it but I'm very impressed with the great images. very pricey however but from what i see its well worth the money . it will be a great tool which will add to the experience of being out on the water just looking at the images scrolling across the screen . I'm not a pro however it should will make finding fish and unknown structure a lot easier especially if you don't know the lake. after my short experience i have to say I'm hooked.reading the information on ozarkanglers form help me pull the trigger thanks for the help.
