Weaning our way off of fossil fuels is going to take a whole lot longer than we anticipated. They might have a good start in 50 years or more. I think they understand that the only way to do this is depopulate the earth. Totally agree on the chemicals we ingest. They claim that life expectancy is as high as it’s ever been but I think that is changing. Us baby boomers seem to be croaking in our seventies, right after our 90+ year old parents are croaking. Oh well, there’s a sequel coming.

I spoke with a trapper once at an MSA meeting. He said they are extremely mean. I remember you once made a great comment that got me thinking. You said that the reason that the otter reintroduction had a flaw is because they forgot to consider farm ponds (which basically weren’t there when the otters originally roamed the Midwest). The newly created farm ponds craze basically became an “all you can eat buffet” for the otters. I also feel the reintroduction of otters failed to realize how fast these little boogers can proliferate. The population soared way beyond expectations and we finally found a way to keep them under control with trapping.
