  1. I dated a gal that was a Vegan. Going out to dinner was a royal pain...drove me nuts.

  3. Made a quick trip to Meramec springs last friday and noticed a small stream improvement. At the top of the park they dug out the area below the first pool where the two branches meet. There is now a little waterfall and a nice little pool below it. It is sutble, but noticable if you look for it. The giant machinery might give it away as well. The fishing was pretty good in the morning, but slower in the afternoon. Plenty of fish though. Hope they continue to work on the stream this winter.
  4. Yep, I have worn sun glasses since that day.
  5. I have been hooked twice and they happened back to back during the winter trout program. On both occasions I was fishing a jig under and indicator and while landing a fish the jig came unhooked. The bend in the rod caused the jig's to rocket right toward my face. First jig ended up in my eyebrow and was only really a glancing blow. The second one stuck me between my eyes and embedded in the bridge of my nose (causing my nose to bleed). Let me tell you that jig was hauling @ss when it hit me and I went down like I had been shot. I stood up with blood coming out my nose and a jig stuck bascially between my eyes. Thankfully, both barbs had been pinched down so the hooks came out very easily. I ended with some pretty good bruising and swelling. My boss at work asked me I have been in a fight. I was to embarrassed to correct anyone so I just went with it.
  6. I know what you mean, but I ain't opening up that can of worms again.
  7. I would say that is substantial. Lot's of strange weather patterns lately.
  8. My guess is the MDC figures there are so few sightings the problem will just go away without them having to deal with it.
  9. If I had to rank them I would say number 1, 6, and 5, but IMO they all kind of blend together. All can be less harmful if fisherman are just attentive to what they are doing. Not sure that happens with the average joe. I read an atricle recently about soft plastics and how bad they really are for the environment...they take forever to decompose. I always wondered what the bottom of a popular fishing spot looks like. I am guessing lot's of lures, soft plastics, etc. Probably looks like that tree at Bennett in zone two just up from the Whistle Bridge.
  10. Thanks for the tips everyone. I am looking foward to the trip. I figured the fishing would be tougher since it will be my first time on the river. The rental equipment will come in handy for those that want to just give a try. Brian I will be sure to send you a message as we get closer to the date. Thanks again!
  11. There are ton of videos on You Tube that show how to tie flies as well. Those have helped me out a lot as well. I started with a kit and the video that came with it was great for me.
  12. I am planning on taking my brother, his fiance, and my girlfriend on a weekend trip in early May. I have looked at the website for ROLF and we are thinking in staying in one of Cabins. I have some questions, mostly related to wading and fishing the stretch that runs through ROLF. I am the only one that has experience trout fishing, but am hoping to introduce the other 3 to the sport. I plan to give a few lessons, some casting help, and a few shorter trips before we go, but am looking for the best way to make this a good trip for the newbies. I have not fished North Fork myself either. I will probably spend most of my time on the river, but I am sure the other members may want to do a few other things offered besides fishing. 1) How are the crowds? Would we be better going earlier in the year than in early May? 2) How is the fishing? We would plan to stay at ROLF and wade that stretch. I don't think we will float. 3) Is there anywhere we can rent some equipment and fly rods for 2 maybe 3 people? We could make due with my fly rods, but I don't have enough waders for everyone. 4) I don't think hiring a guide for a full day is in the cards, but maybe some instruction for the other members? Would this be possible? I could always use some extra instruction as well. I am sure I will have more questions but this all that I can think of at the moment. Any thoughts, tips, etc?
  13. Looks like a great time! Glad you boys had some fun.
  14. Had about 5-6 inches in south city. I made the trip to work in Chesterfield this morning which took me about an 1 hour and a half. Lot's more snow in the northern half of the area. Kinda pissed the rest of the office chickened out. Worked out ok though the CEO stopped in so I get some bonus points.
  15. Nice video! We need more members to submit videos like these. Good stuff.
  16. When I fish in the park I park in the first lot to your left after you drive over the bridge. I then walk back over the bridge and up the paved road toward the C/R area. I continue to walk the gravel road along the right side of Montauk lake. After the lake the gravel road bends to your right. I hop in the stream at this point which is right by the spring.I then fish the entire stream down to the dam (right by your car). It takes about 15 minutes to walk up, but once you get in the stream there are fish pretty much everywhere. I just work my way down to the dam and end the day right by my car.
  17. I'd agree with the others it was a lose-lose situation for the MDC and a case that likely would have been difficult to win. Not to mention the cost associated with pursuing charges. Furthermore, the general public probably would rather have mountain lions removed than protected...simply out of fear. Not saying that is right and I don't agree with that, but it might be a case in which it is better to cut your losses. Fight the battles you can win that are worth fighting. Not sure it is worth spending money on a rogue mountain lion kill...even though what these guys did was complete BS.

Nice pics looks you boys do it right!
  19. You meet on the river? I didn't know you guys could walk on water...that is pretty sweet.
  20. A question for the MFU gang. Were you guys friends before OAF or did you guys all meet on the board?
  21. Welcome to the forum. Grew up in St. Peter's just up the road from you, but live downtown these days. Lot's of great information on the board. Enjoy.
  22. How much does a cheap tranquilizer gun cost? Why not put it to sleep and have it relocated to an area away from livestock and people? Seems to me everybody wins. IT is not like we have a rampant Mt. Lion problem or this one was posing an immediate threat. Keep the dogs on it, call the conservation department, and have it removed. The experts can then decide what to do with it. No need to kill a species that is already rare IMO and could have been dealt with in another manner with simple phone call.
  23. Pretty crazy weather on Saturday...lot's of damage in the Sunset Hill's area. Tornado's pretty much went right through the city from southwest to northeast. Luckily, it barely did anything on my block...jumped right over us.
  24. Don't ask don't tell.
  25. Yep, can't wait to get out on the water.
