  1. The sad part is they don't even realize it. I have "friends" that really think they have it figured out. I honestly feel sorry for them...
  2. I don't fish Beaver, but how is the bass fishery? Usually big bass lakes have a smaller average sized Bluegill population. Stunted bass lakes usually have lots of big Bluegill in them.
  3. What you are talking about is on far greater scale than has been reported. Are you mad at Jeff Lunhow for stealing information from the Cardinals when he left? Why doesn't that bother you? This is believed to be about revenge not data... And According to legal experts this may not even be a crime at all....Corporate Espionage...lmao. http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/13093177/lester-munson Now if it goes higher up or is systemic then that is different story and they should do jail time, but that is not really what is being reported.
  4. Yeah, they seem to be struggling to score any goals. It was a tough group and Sweden may not even advance.
  5. Yep, that is what I think. Hard to imagine Mozeliak or Dewitt being involved. If they are though this is a whole different ballgame.
  6. Corporate Espionage? From the worst team in baseball the last 5 years? Riiight. Now if it goes up high in the cards organization that is one thing, but corporate espionage is a sensationalist term at best. It it is, as stated by the FBI believed to be about revenge. Most likely an attempt to piss of lunhow from a former employee who lunhow probably treated like crap. I doubt this goes much beyond that and i doubt the perpitrator even realized this a felony. So yeah it is a glorified pissing match. If proven this was a systematic attempt that is a different story, but I doubt that Cards can't be that stupid.
  7. Lunhow is also accused of taking information from the Cardinals when he left. This seem more like a pissing match between two parties that clearly don't like other. In the end I bet both parties are guilty of something. They will probably both just want it to go away.
  8. That is a good one...
  9. I use very similar methods...sometimes I can only catch them with them a slow trip. My surface fly preference is a small foam spider size 12 or so. I like it when the back of the bluegill's break the surface going after your fly. Kinda look like mini sharks too me
  10. I would have to go with a olive chenille body and some rubber legs. Add a little lead wire. Strip it, float it under an indicator whatever. It is all I ever need really. Rubber legs are the ticket.
  11. Sounds like you have earned that trip Ness! Enjoy. I keep telling my wife as soon as the boys are old enough we are going....
  12. No worries at all man! Kids, family, etc as much as love them it is still hard not to daydream about my single days fishing whenever and wherever I wanted. I am hoping my boys enjoy it as much as I do.
  13. Nice Job Smalliebigs! I feel your pain with a lack of fishing time. I have a soon to be 2 year old and my wife is due next week with our second boy. My fishing trips consist of taking my two year old to the subdivision pond. He mostly throws rocks or puts them in the pocket of my cargo shorts. He liked touching the fish until a little Bluegill flopped out of my and bounced of his head. I hope I haven't scarred him for life. lol. It is fun though and I wouldn't trade it for anything, but the fishing does take hit for awhile.
  14. Enjoy it is beautiful river...I am jealous...but with the wife due to give birth any day it will be some time before I can get back to the river. Little Brown trout seem to really like Caddis IMO...especially the recently stocked ones....
  15. That is not what Brian said though...
  16. the densities of Rainbow are much higher from the end of the park down to Baptist. There are Brown trout in this section as well. Brown trout will rule below Baptist, but you can still catch many Rainbows. There is not really a bad stretch to fish, but from the end of the park to Tan Vat will be crowded most likely. You can find solitude if you walk a little...
  17. You do raise a good point that I think is often overlooked. If one assumes that trout are pushing out smallmouth then that would make trout the dominate species....probably a view most smallmouth anglers would find blasphemous (and so would I BTW). It is one of the reason's I never understood the logic of this argument. I find it difficult to believe that trout could out compete a bass species and your post does illustrate and example of that. It is interesting that they are coexisting in certain waters in the Northeast, though that is probably the exception and not the norm.
  18. Trout have also been stocked in waters mostly devoid of smallmouth after dams have been built. In these streams is not trout that have any real tangible effect on smallmouth population it is the damns and habitat change that force smallmouth to move. Trout were stocked after. In order to restore these smallmouth streams to what they were historically you would have to tear down the damns (which would be fine with me), but otherwise you just have mostly empty stretches of water with poor fishing ( I'd rather have trout than nothing). The remaining streams as OTF mentioned were marginal or poor fisheries at best. Trout fill a void in these stretches. I look at it as maximizing the opportunities in the water we have. I am trout guy, but I doubt a trout could out compete a smallmouth for food items in the rare instances they could coexist in comfort. In some California lakes Largemouth grow huge feasting on them.
  19. I caught one dead sticking a buzz bait. I was clearing out an old bird nests after I cast and when I reeled in my line there was a Crappie on it. That actually happened to me twice!
  20. Great Report. Nicely done. I would have froze wading in 50 degree air temperatures that early in the morning!
  21. Sorry to hear of his passing. I always enjoyed his posts and opinions and the forum. Prayers to his family.
  22. Looks incredible. Great pictures and summary.
  23. I believe they have tried that fence thing underneath 47 before and I don't think it is legal, but who knows. It was a great place to access, but the river took a real beating in that area so kind of a catch 22. Anyway, good job catching fish!
  24. Looks like a great time!
  25. Nice redear. An 18 inch bass is a great fish out of Fire Lake. It has lots of bass, but most are in the smaller range. I stopped by Praire Lake the other day and it too was pretty muddy so I left. Caught a few bass on fly rod last fall, but it is weird lake to fish. Saw quite few bass on beds this weekend and the bass fishing was pretty slow for me. Blugeill and Redear are starting to heat up, but they are not quite spawning in larger numbers, but that should change shortly.
