If we go to tungsten, and it is imported from China, who is to say we won't STILL be getting lead? I mean, if our government allows toys to imported with lead in them why would they stop fishing lures and weights from having lead? I am not arguing that lead has no effect on the environment, it obviously does, as does anything else. However why attack lead when there are far more pressing things to consider(mercury, gas fracking, local polution). So why lead? [tinfoil hat]The government doesn't have to take away your guns if you have no bullets.[/tinfoil hat]

you may not like les stroud but his show was very real. He filmed his own stuff and the crew was only there in the case of a life and death emergency. Bear Grylls is and was always a joke. He stayed in 4 star hotels while "on location". Survivorman was never about long term survival, but instead focused on living long enough to get found(a week or less). While grubs and cat tails are not the best thing to eat, they offer a high success ratio compared to most any game that can be found. I have never watched dual survival so I cannot comment on that show.

Hwy 142 bridge marks the end of the hp limit. anything upstream must be 25hp or less. when we went down the creek a few weeks ago going up the narrows would be next to impossible.

I used to be in the same boat, slot limit, but after floating it I have noticed there are massive amounts of minnows in the creek. I personally would like to see the slab stay though. -

If it were me with a $1000 limit I would buy rods and reels used. www.texasfishingforum.com always has someone selling gear for a reasonable price. I would spend $300 or so on 3 rod/reel combos, possibly $400. Use $75 or so on tackle storage and the rest on quality tackle. Cranks, good plastics, jigs, etc. -
my home waters are basically anything flowing that is within a 60 mile radius of my house.

Patrick is close enough to Caulfield for me to say that Busch is the preferred repellent for hillbillies. It is safer to become one than not. You will be in for a tough weekend of fishing, labor day weekend will mean TONS of tourists.

I have noticed quite a few drift boats do the rim shoals to buffalo city float. You could probably stretch it out to a all day float if you wanted.

The tales about the lower sections of crooked creek are true, at least the part with them being hard to access. I have waded(walked) up from the 101 bridge and down from the lower access. I have not caught a 6lb'er but I know they are there because I have seen photos from a local.

We had a wolverine(atv) brought into the shop a few weeks ago that had been sitting with stabil in the tank. The tank had gel all in it and the carb was even worse. I always prefer to be on the safe side and if there is no fuel in a carb there is no fuel to gel up in a carb.

If your motor has carbs I would suggest draining them or running the gas out the last time you use it. As far as the batteries, if you have a good charger that has a maintaining charge setting do that, otherwise unhook them.

Back when "Trophy Trout" was posting his "reports" which said he was catching tons of big fish, but with no pictures, no sort of specificity to a location(which I can understand coming from a guide), and not even a hint of what color they were using makes his "report" useless. Now that I have made this post I imagine none of you will go fishing with me.
