Whack'emGood Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Bill and Lilley... I can't believe people are giving you guys crap. Well, then again, I guess I can. Some guys always just have to have something to complain about or start a fight about. The only credible complaint would be from the guy whose dock you fished and cleaned fish on. I don't see anyone on here claiming to be that guy, so I say lets just let it be. All I wanted to say was good job on catchin'em, enjoy the fillets, and thanks for the report. Whack'em "Success builds confidence, and you have to learn to trust your instincts and forget about fishing the way a tournament is supposed to be won. I'm going to fish my style and make it work for me." -KEVIN VANDAM "Confidence is the best lure in your tackle box." -GERALD SWINDLE "A-Rig? Thanks, but no thanks. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 5, 2008 Author Root Admin Posted December 5, 2008 Bill and I talked. We don't think it was a good idea promoting or giving people the idea of heading to LOZ for the sole purpose to get off on private docks and fish. I didn't think of what could happen given the number of people who would watch this video and the repercussions that could come from it. I would imagine, say, if the local paper up there or the local chamber of commerce got ahold of it and broadcast that a fishing website is promoting this, we'd be in deep dodo. So I'm going to pull the video and apologize again. It's been a good and informative discussion though.
ColdWaterFshr Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 I wasn't trying to start a fight or complain. During the course of an otherwise boring work day, I poke around on this website probably too much and I'll admit it can be fun to stir the pot a little, even on a subject like this where I have no horse in the race. Just showing a different viewpoint, I hope no offense was taken about anything I stated. I enjoyed the discussion. Cheers!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 6, 2008 Author Root Admin Posted December 6, 2008 I know you too well! Thanks.
J.E. Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Lilley I've got a 16' crappie rod I'll loan you next time you head up! The fact that you and Bill have some concern is evidence that it is simply wrong to get on someone's dock without their approval. From the dock owner's position what happens if you slip and fall or worst case catch a line and drown on their dock. Sounds like a law suit coming to me. If it feels wrong in your mind and heart it's probably wrong guys........ Other than that Bill, I'm heading up Friday.... WHERE ARE THEY!!!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 10, 2008 Author Root Admin Posted December 10, 2008 Right smack-dab in the middle of the largest docks- right where even your 16 foot rod can't quite reach. You'll have to get out and walk the docks to really catch anything...
Crappie5 Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 I agree with Whack'em, I can't believe guys are giving you crap. I'm just like Bill I have walked docks for 25 years now and never have had any problem. The only time I even ever was confronted by a dock owner was 5 years ago in Kings river on table rock. It kind of goes back to what Bill was saying about several stall owners. I was on the dock catching crappie and one stall owner came down and told me I needed to get off his dock I said that I would Kindly leave when all the sudden there was another stall owner who had been on the bank watching me catch crappie the whole time came down and got in to it with the other stall owner and told him he did not own the whole dock and told me I could fish there anytime I wanted just help myself. He pointed out 2 stalls he owned, 2 that his son owned and 1 that his dad owned. Only one of these had a boat in it and he told me anytime I wanted to pull my boat in one of them and get off on the dock and fish I was more than welcome. I have been walking this dock ever since with no problems. The same guy still comes down and visits with me and gets the fishing report.
