Oh gosh! I can't speak for Bill, but Branson is kind of a place where the older performers go. We try to take in a show or two a year with the kids. You don't see many new great acts here. They would be a bit below a Las Vegas for shows. I sort of took that as what he meant. FLW is okay, but a bit below quality in comparison to the Bass shows.

Oh Crap! I just got a chance to watch the Table Rock event all the way through. That was a total waste. FLW brought their poop coverage to a new low.

I couldn't have been more dissappointed.

I'm with Babler and the rest of you guys, it did suck. I want to go through the TV screen and throttle that sawed-off Charlie Evans every time he says, "Got one hooked up here!" Or "great hookset!" But here's my real sticking point with this TR broadcast ... the guy who owns Hook, Line & Sinker tackle shop down here in Rogers is friends with the Texas guy (David Curtis, I believe) who won the tournament. In fact, he furnished him the Bass-X jigs for the tournament and even picked his wife up at the airport in NW Arkansas and drove her to Branson for the final day weigh-in. According to him, the guy won the tournament fishing a ledge somewhere above the 86 bridge at Eagle Rock. Donna and I were on the lake fishing in the SK bridge area and saw the dude — he was in a Coppertone wrap boat — and his "chase boat" headed back down the lake around 1:30 p.m. I clearly recall telling her, "There goes the leader in the Stren tournament headed back to Branson." But did you notice on the piece of crap show that they showed a graphic of his fishing location being that round point just above KC bridge on the north side? What the heck? Maybe the guy hit that KC point on his way in, but my understanding is that his primary area was above Eagle Rock.

Champ, if you have this on tape, look pretty close. I don't believe there is any water as big as what they were showing him on, above the 86 bridge. He was on some pretty wide open spaces. There were bluffs in the back ground, and I was trying to figure them out, but they only gave him about 20 seconds of air time on each fish he caught.

Remember 3 or 4 years ago, when David Fritz had that big bag off the hogback at Rock Creek, may have been up there. All I know is if you saw him up there, its good enough for me to say he lied about the location. That is to big a run to not stay up there and work it once you get there.

AS far as Branson is concerned. Where did I mis-speak? It's entertainment community is geared for the most part to the generation, before my time, and I'm 53. Very few of our guests come to Branson for the shows. Probably 5 percent or less. SDC of course in not included.

The point I was trying to make and Techo, was on the ball is that it seems to me that FLW has some old minor leagers, and some young guys that had good high school stats, but didn't have the grades for division one and are getting there start in Jr. College. ie the FLW.

It also seems that the Bassmaster Pro's are very adept at public speaking and are very knowledgeable about telling the camera who, what, when, where, and how and why they are catching fish.

I saw on an Elite broadcast a couple of years ago, and I may not have the pro correct, but I believe it was Jeff Crete, discribe his boat layout. It was fabulas, I change my boat the same day. Probably took two minutes for him to show, and tell why he had each piece of equipment in each location. He covered why he placed each rod in a specific spot in his boxes, to where and what was in each tackle pack and even how he placed leaders and spare line. He also covered the internal working of his boat. Just great stuff.

Then to see the same thing on the FLW and see it as just a waste of time was just incredable. The Nimrod that did the boat layout, had a great opportunity working for Ranger boats, as 90% of these guys do to really sell that boat. All he said was Ranger has a good livewell system. Pretty Poor.:huh:

I did the same thing as you did, Bill... looked at the tape closely several times-- and I figured out one thing for sure... the location sure wasn't across from the Hwy 13 bridge like they said it was.

Also, I also love the Bassmaster Elite broadcasts. It seems that they film those guys fishing and ask them the where, what, why, etc and then those guys are Professional enough to answer those questions in great detail-- or those guys are just good enough to volunteer it to the camera as they fish. It makes the show very educational and informative (not to mention very interesting). Man, there aint anything better than hearing guys like Van Dam, Steve Kennedy, Ike, and others share a little piece of the puzzle with you. Also, like I said before, Mark Zona and Tommy Sanders are great at doing that same thing-- giving us quite a bit of the details of what those guys are doing out there.

The Elite fishermen, and the coverage, are more than just a cut above the FLW series.

I have it recorded and was looking forward to watching it for the fishing aspects but now that is blown. I will watch it to see how bad they screwed it up. :D

The criticism of the show is definitely warranted. Who wants to see some fisherman in the Branson Five & Dime acting like a buffoon and going around town showing you pretty much nothing of interest. I DVR'd the show and they said one angler was catching them on DD 22's. The crankbait he just caught a fish on was not a DD22 nor the color they said he was catching them on. I paused the tape and looked at the crankbait. I was thinking the same thing on the segment on how to set up a bass boat. It was laughable and a total waste of time. I learned nothing from that segment. I also hate it when they show an angler standing in front of the camera tipping his cap and nodding their head with a silly smirk on their face. Just looks stupid.

The producers of the FLW shows need to look at their shows and make some constructive changes.

Well, for my two cents I agree with the rest of you. I was unimpressed with the coverage. The mysterious DD22 was actually a Luhr Jensen Hot Lips. It is pretty darn easy to tell the difference!

I am just glad that I don't have to watch that ever again.

Good fishing and see you all in April

Yep, I noticed the supposed "DD22" right away also... as soon as I saw it, I exclaimed to my wife (who wasn't really interested, but pretended to be interested enough... thanks hon) that it was a Luhr Jensen Hot Lips crankbait.

Gabe-- you brought up the stupid clips (when they go to commercial) of the "Pros" standing there posing with their hands on their hips and looking silly-- You are right on, and I forgot to mention how much I hate that also. How dumb is that???!!!:lol:

The thing that gets my goat the most is the lying and deception... and for what? Why would they make up a location and tell us that is where the angler is fishing? If they are gonna do that, I would rather them just not show the "supposed" area he is fishing at all. And why would they make up the weights of each fish they catch if they aren't accurate? Just say that one looks like it is about 3lbs or whatever. And why would they tell us he is fishing with a DD22 if it is clear to most experienced bass fishermen at home that it is clearly not a DD22, but a Luhr Jensen Hot Lips? Just tell us it is a Hot Lips and get it over with.

Bottom line-- the FLW is just a flashy advertisement and is produced for advertisement sake... not coverage of tournament fishing at all. It is a joke.

Hey Wack'emGood.....how do you really feel? LOL. I agree. If you are going to lie then please follow your Miranda Rights and say nothing at all. I still enjoy the fishing shows, but it would seem wrong to mislead folks watching the to learn techniques and tactics of professional anglers. Sort of makes it seem UNprofessional.
