Members joefish Posted January 21, 2009 Members Posted January 21, 2009 I'm pullin' for you Sam... as for me, I don't think I could handle the awesome responsibility that comes with it! I may be in the top 10 per cent of my buddies that catch all the fish. Take me out of that cirlcle and Im probably in the 90 per cent that dont like everybody else. Probing the depths, driving lunkers from their homes!
bigredbirdfan Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I thought that life had a 20-80 rule. You wear 20% of your clothes 80% of the time. You use 20% of your house 80% of the time. Use 20% of your fishing poles 80% of the time. Throw 20% of your lures 80% of the time. And so on. Leave it to fishermen to be pompus enought to elevate themselves to an 10% 90% rule. Unbelievable. I call Bulllll S....... on most of you. Good to know some are sooo much better than the rest of us. Maybe if you are that good you can just stay home and discuss all the fish you woulda caught and save that precious 10% of the lake for the rest of us poor souls. Or if I fish a tournament you can give me 90% of the tournament and you can just fish 10% of the time. You know to make it equal and all.
Mr. Ed Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I’ve never fished Bull Shoals… I will now… sorry Sam.
Bill Babler Posted January 22, 2009 Author Posted January 22, 2009 Well, it sure doesn't take much to get everyone's dander up. If you think I ment by my post, that I am a better fisherman than for that matter, anyone else on this forum, you didn't read the post correctly. My POINT was, locals that fish the lake on a weekly or even a daily basis, should not feel prussured by guests coming to a strange or a lake that they very seldom or never fish. It is just pure common sense, to believe that we that fish here ofter, should have a spot or two that a stranger would not know of. Most people that don't fish the White River Chain, Just don't fish the way we do. As I said in my post, I, in 30 plus years of fishing Bull Shoals have never had to worry about competition for fishing locations. Exception, the Pothole, Beaver or Swan Creeks. The way 90 percent of the lakes in this world fish, they are bank fisheries. The White River Chain, all the lakes on it are for the most part not bank fisheries, and that is just hard to figure out if you are not from here. I very often, have people stop and ask me while I am fishing, if they can help me, if my boat is broken down. Most people not from here just don't realize or understand that all fish do not live along the shore line, or within casting distance of it. For the most part, here very few fish do live there. The entire jist of the post was to assure locals that fish here, that there is enough water for everyone. I'm done on this topic. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Tightline Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Guys the old saying goes like this, 10% of fishermen, THINK that THEY catch 90% of the fish, hehe, what they don't know won't hurt 'em I guess. Bills right it is a wonderful lake, but, it will burst your ego bubble faster than any lake in Southwest Mo. And if I were traveling from very far away,I would pick the most consistant fishery around,The ROCK!!
stone9-7=2 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Hehehe don't ya just love the bull? Bull Shoals that is!!!!
crappiefisherman Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 The thing that Ive noticed is that 2 years ago, The Kdock area and any upper BS issues where blown off.No whites, no crappie , no nothin except big gar and soap suds.Has it really changed or is it a diversionary tactic to get you guys on my mudhole. The ramp does suck and hasnt had any improvements in years. They dont even have a street lite down there on the ramp for after dark launching or boat removal.I usually just suffer through it though. If you see me in a baby blue champion boat fishing , just realize I have a job that sometimes bothers me, 3 kids and a red headed wife,so leave me alone or I mite snapppppp!! Wayne SW/MO Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 So far the yellow perch seems to have filled a void in the eco system in Bull Shoals Lake. What brings you to this conclusion? As a scoolling predator I would think they would only compete. BS gets a lot of "breaks" in pressure, such as last spring, and this in my opinion keeps the number of devoted fishermen low, given its size. Its also a lake that can require a lot of work. The levels tend to change from one season to the next, and during the season. Combine the level changes with the fact that much of its structure is subtle in comparison, and you have a format that requires some hard work. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
