If you think that a BS in anything makes you an expert you apparently live in a world of your own. I have three BS degrees in computer science and business management and a MA in computer resourse management and nearly a doctorate in the same field. I had more than 300 employees working for me in my field. A lot of them had no degrees in anything and about 20 were high school certificate holders. Some of the good ole country boys who had just lots of common sense and experience could walk out to a programmable controller and fix it before the college grad engineers could figure how to take the screw driver and open the panel where the programmable controller and ladder diagram was stored. BTW I also had a good ole country boy with an engineering degree. Wow what a dream of an employee. Strange thing about him was he never told me how the management system was screwed up when something was wrong. He never held meetings to berate the company nor did it in our team meetings He just pitched in to fix the problems that occured. That is why each year I recommended him for the maximum raise he was allowed.

So much for a BS degree in anything. If you google the gentleman in question you will find that he has written lots of articles and appeared in a lot of places. There insn't much in the research that says he has done much else but write about things.

One of the engineers with the most education that I supervised could draw up a wonderful set of prints, come up with lots of outlandish ideas and talk a big game. Since he left our corporation he has been to three other corporations that eventually got rid of him like we did. Why? All talk and no production would be my guess.

I am surprised that he hasn't gone into politics or writing articles for magazines. He could probabally get a following there. Just telling what is wrong with the system isn't difficult. Suggesting and implementing solutions is another matter. That takes genuine talent.

I'm so sorry about my comment Al Agnew. I misread who wrote the comment that kinda pissed me off. It wasn't you, it was Bigredbirdfan, our resident conservation hater. I should have known you would not have had written the comment I responded to. My mistake.

No problem...

Like I said before, I don't know Larry well at all. I like his books. His little magazine is okay. If he stuck to hunting, fishing, and Ozark lore it would be fine with me. He and I have a couple of mutual friends that vouch for him and his uncle Norten, but I've never met him in person. I can't say I like his politics according to some of the stuff he's written in his magazine, but there are a lot of people I don't agree with politically that I like personally.

If he's going to attack MDC with the kind of innuendo he has so far, he better have the facts to back it up.

I have read is column for many years. I should say I HAD read is column for many years. He always would stick an MDC bashing in a couple of times a year but, it would just take a paragraph or two. And I was fine with that. I didn't and still don't agree with him, but if he doesn't help to sell papers, he can't sell his column.

One must remember that his dream was to be an employee of the MDC. For whatever reason, he was never hired. So this is how he deals with it. I get this info from 30+ year employee's with the MDC, and not on the local level.

Like Al, I love his books. They should be required reading in school. I have thumbed through his magazine a few times but, never found it worth the cover price. Like I said, he has to sell papers to sell his column and what better way to do that. Just like he is doing with a lot of smoke but no sign of fire. Do I think there is a fire? Sure there are some hot spots but, there is no raging inferno like he would like you to believe. But as it appears, some are militant followers without common sense reasoning.

Just remember, he has made and continues to make a good living off of the back of the MDC and what they have provided him and each and everyone of us.

Sticks and Stones Brotha.

Actually when I talk about the MDC I get a warm tingly feeling up and down my body.

I happened to donate some time for the MDC and saw a lot of waste going on. New equipment replacing nearly new equipment. Tools and other state property walking off. They just don't give a rats rear end because the money flows like water. Accountability does no harm. Especially with our economy in the tank. And anyone who disagrees hasn't a clue.

Several years ago Mr. Dabblemont had a article in the Springfield News Leader on how few people snagged suckers anymore. He went on to tell of how no one else was snagging and he caught a limit on the Pomde Terre River, over Memorial Day Weekend. Problem was snagging season has closed on May 15 for the past 50 years..... I wrote a letter to the paper, it was not publised either.... so maybe critical of the MDC is not the only issues they do not publish. I wrote him off then.

You have some pretty stark accusations. Do you have information to back these claims?

I realize it's a double edged sword when it comes to dealing with things of this nature.

There are always good and bad aspects of these type of agencies. I try to give credit where credit is due but will be the first to speak up when I see something wrong.

The MDC has done many good things but by the same token they have their faults. I have experienced and witnessed many things that left a sour taste in my mouth concerning the MDC...proof, no I don't have any except for what I have seen which is what I base alot of my opinions on. When people see certain things I feel they have a lasting impression and often there is no proof with the exception of what each of us have seen.

I guess we all have seen different things, the key word being 'different' and we base our opinions on what we have seen. I reckon some have just seen alot more than others. Due to this we all have varied opinions and I feel on ones opinions are either right or wrong and they have them for a reason.

I don't judge people for their opinions...you know the old saying...everybody has one.

My friends say I'm a douche bag ??

I like some parts of LD's books, the parts where he talks about fishing and hunting but I really dont agree with his points of view. At least his rants are entertaining. Cheers.
