Chief Grey Bear Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 For whatever it is worth, here is my thought. The name of this place is Ozark Anglers. That is what drew all of the thousands of members thousands of lurkers that you have. Folks generally think of Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas when they think of the Ozarks. They wanted to read and learn of areas to fish in the Ozarks. That is what led them to this forum. This area has a rich, long history of quality fishing that has lasted for over 100 years now. It has a certain romance that draws thousands of fishermen each year to try their luck. They want to experience the lore and legend that is the mystique of the Ozarks. They want to live the life of the Ozarks through the posts posted here. This is not my forum and I certainly do not carry any weight when it comes to making decisions concerning its operation. I would just like to say bigger is not necessarily better. I like the Ozarks theme that it has and if wanted to know about fishing another area of the county, I would check that area, not the Ozarks. I mean no disrespect to anyone that thinks this forum should cover multiple areas, but maybe it should have a name change too. I will also echo what was said earlier about good contributors. Also if it doesn't keep active. Dump it. Or maybe start a seperate site for other areas. With the economy the way it is I will mostly be on home waters. Either way I enjoy what is here and the job you guys have done.
techo Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Never thought I would see the day you two would agree either. It is a great day! Tim Carpenter
lonkm Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Since I am pretty much an all species fisherman, except trout. I don't care how big this forum gets, just as long as you keep telling me about the fishing on Bull Shoals. I do wish there were more reports from the Lower section as I like to fish down that way too. I already pick and choose what I want to read but sometimes it is interesting to find out what is happening around us. This belongs to you and I really appreciate all the info and your help. Hammer On!! You are at the Wheel!

If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
ozark trout fisher Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 How would the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers be covered best? Suggestions? I don't really know. I have mostly just fished some backwaters of the Missouri near St. Louis for White Bass, and Largemouth Bass, drum, and catfish, specifically at Howell Island Conservation Area. But they might be kinda hard to cover. I know the lock and dam areas in Northeastern Missouri, on the Mississipi are good for largemouth bass, walleye, white bass, and catfish. Below there, pretty much just catfish and carp.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 13, 2009 Author Root Admin Posted March 13, 2009 Thanks for the comments. Keep them coming. I'm so involved in NAIA basketball this week I hardly have time to check email and read the forum. I've secured a new url site and have it setup for a new forum. I'll move the forum over and update it, build in new waters and have it up in a week or so. I've had some good suggestions for persons who would help with fishing reports on rivers and lakes... those contacts are vital in bringing on good people to give info on these places. Unfortunately, you'll have to register on the new forum. I can't move over memberships. Thanks- keep comments coming.
Trav Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Say it ain't so joe. No more more OAF? New Forum? What will happen to this site? Will you sell it to me? I will pass around the hat and am positive I could get enough OAF members to divvy in to keep our site as is. What do you think fellas? OAF to go coop? I hate to say this Phil, I am not going to be moving to a new site. I am happy with this one. It took me hours to get all those pictures on my Blog!! If this means I click on my favorites list and it shows a blank screen, so be it. I guess your britches just got too big for the OZARKANGLER. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
laker67 Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Phil, I have to agree with Trav, Chief, Brbf, and some of the others. Right now there is way too much "changing hooks on a wiggle wart", "ammo sales", and "how many pounds" to suit me. The old "conservation cafe" was just right. It was fun and entertaining.
Trav Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 I have $143.12 in my coin jar Might get about $50 if I recycle the aluminum cans I have been collecting in my barn. We could have a blood drive I guess I could pawn my wedding ring. After all, I have been divorced for nine years. Anyone want to buy a lawn mower? I will just borrow one from a nieghbor. Heck, To keep OAF just the way it is.......I will part with my prescious BassMaster Magazine collection. It dates back to the 80s. Any takers? I am sure we can buy this site somehow. Anyone on board with me? "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
