Met some of my buddied from St. Louis Saturday night and we camped up the hill in Lot 222. My brother and I had a pop up camper we slept in but our friends slept in a tent all night. They couldn't feel their feet in the moring, so we stoked up the fire and sat around the fire till about 10:00 then ate breakfeast buffett for $9.00, (talk about sicking it to you). Hit the icy water around 11:00 up by the wing dams and caught nothing. I didn't see anyone else catch anything either. I did see a handicapped guy fishing off the right side of the winged dam almos casting downstream and 2 idiots walked right in and took away his casting lane. That inspired me to go down below the bridge and fish in zone 2. I caught 2 rainbows w/i 15 minutes and then I couldn't get a bite to save my life. After dipping my rod in the water for the millionth time, my wife called and said WHEN ARE YOU COMING HOME!!. Sound familiar guys? Normally I would complain but it was a releif after being cold for hours so I packed it up and headed home. Saw more agents then I saw fish. NO LIE

Hum..Buddies froze in there tent and snoopy bags(unprepared), bunch of guys laying around camp all morning instead of fishing (not feeling well? why?) , buying breakfast before fishing (unprepared), then complaining about no fish and poor fishing after several thousand people woke up, went fishing at the buzzer and caught their limits. Better luck next time.

Spoken like a true WFT'er Gavin :D

Winter camping does take some preparation and specialized gear to enjoy. I know how to do it right...but It's not my bag. Motels are plenty affordable when night time temps are in the 20's or below.

HA! I was hunting up at Edgar Springs in 13 inches of snow.Come back Sunday it was balmy as I went by Bennett.

I was going to fish Little Piney they didn't have the roads open yet so I just came on home where there was nothing in the way of snow.

Some people can't catch fish unless they use the buzzer to do so. I am not one of those. What a crutch.

I think that you have just come up with another "Ozarkipedia" term. "Buzzer fish", those fish caught before the horn quits sounding.

Two years ago I had tandem "Buzzer Fish" (love that term) at BSSP, I was running a double rig at the time. Both were "Figets" so they weren't able to break my tippet.

later,

FFM

Woo Hoo Fish On!!

"BUZZER FISH" I love it. Wouldn't be easier if they just put a water tank in the parking lot, fill it with trout, and everybody just stand around it and fish. It reminds me of the KC Sports Show when the have a tank for the kids to catch a trout. I stay in bed or watch the chaos from my truck.

Duckydoty took me to BSSP for my first opening day fishing experience. I threw my jig as the buzzer went off and had one on its way in before the buzzer quit~buzzer fish~ gotta love it!!!! Had a great time, despite the 12 degree temp.

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

The two best times to go fishing? When it is raining and when it is not.

I think Beeson needs to officially add "buzzer fish", to his list. Glad you had a good time.
