Greg Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I quit almost a year ago, but when I did smoke I would most of the time dunk it in water to put it out then knock the rest of the tobacco out then throw the butt in my chestpack, stunk up my chestpack for awhile but i couldnt smell it until after i quit. To anyone that even somewhat wants to quit, ask your doctor about Chantix. Seriously, it works, it worked for me and at least ten other people that I know. Think of all the fishin stuff you could buy with 150 bucks a month (5bucks x 30 days)! Its like getting paid to save your life. Good for you!! As a healthcare professional I see people every single day that cigarettes have caused very severe health problems. And it's tough to quit too. I work with a guy that been trying to quit off and on for 10 years. ness Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Kinda nice to hear from 3 smokers who DO take care of their trash. Guess I tend to focus on the ones that don't. I'll try to keep in mind there are some who do care, and dispose of the butts properly. John
DoveTail Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Ya, I hate garbage. If you can pack it in, you can pack it out.

For two or three days, all agents would be assigned litter patrol. Anyone seen littering would recieve a $50 fine. Imagine the INCREDIBLE amount of revenue the four Missouri trout parks would generate! This money could be used to fund the already steller missouri conservation efforts. It would be perfectly within the law, raise a ton of money, and punish people who throw down their waste with no regard to others or the environment. Cleaner streams/lakes, and more MDC $$. Do you think something like that would fly (particularly at the trout parks - though Taney would generate some $$ with agents in the bushes w/ binoculars can you hear Ray Stevens "It's Dudly Dooright of the Litter Patrol...")? I'm heading down to RR tomorrow for the fun of it. Do some wading in the thunderstorm in the fly section. I gotta fever - and a river runs through it!

Every time you tie on a new fly, be sure and stow that tag end in your litter gitter.
duckydoty Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Hmmm....I was down there today at outlet 2 talking to some of the Old Timers down there and the butts were still laying around. Where I come from....we leave the place cleaner than we found it. I picked them all up even though I didnt put not a one of them down there. Also picked up some glow stick packages that some night time lighted indicator fisher person left down there. Wouldn't be nice if everyone on here would pickup some trash when they saw it instead of just complaining about what they saw. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Ok, I have been guilty of throwing my butts in the water or on the bank, but not this year. Haven't been down there yet. I will keep them picked up in the future or better yet just quit. When I set up my rod its always at the pavillion... (Just seems brighter there..LOL) But the butts isnt the only issuse to worry about.... what about all the Line, beer cans, (this is a good one!) power bait jars, soda bottles, lure packages, and coffee cups....... and yes... I always see glo-stick everywhere... where someone was fishing the night before... Im guess soon we need to look into a upper lake clean-up.... ASAP!! maybe try to get some boats up there to hit the islands... (**** just a thought****) http://www.taneycomonights.com

There are lots of people that fish at night with lighted indicators. Most of us do rig up at the pavillion when getting ready to fish at night. Thats why I find and pick up trash around the pavillion also. There is always going to be some litter laying around. We just need to keep picking it up and if we see someone throwing it down, Say Something to Them. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at..
