Zack Hoyt Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 In light of recent wonderfully informative posts......I wanted to point out this wonderful tool we all have access to. If there is someone you find you disagree with alot and really dont care to read their posts.....try this exercise: 1. Step back from the computer and take a breath, have a ciggy, or get a warm cup of coffee. 2. Return to computer and reread what you were about to post and see if it was a personal attack or if it was ON TOPIC. 3. Edit post accordingly. 4. Click on user profile that you are having an issue with. 5. On the left hand side of their profile page, there is a pulldown menu titled OPTION. 6. Click on this and you will find revealed, the "Ignore User" option. (This enables all posts and pm's from a person to not be viewable by you) 7. Enable this tool and you will never have to see the "tools" posts......errr.....users posts that you seem to disagree with. During regular surfing of the board, you ahve the option of viewing their posts, but they are not shown without you approving the action. You can at any time undo this. Just thought I would point this out. bfishn 1 Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions

Chief Grey Bear Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Or everybody could just grow up. I am all for spirited debate but, with what has been posted lately.....and some of it by those that I thought would never act like that in public. That is one of the reasons I have all but stopped posting fishing reports. I did like Phil's post in the TR forum just before he closed it. techo Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I did not see this post earlier. I actually private messaged this to a few friends who have been posting here less and less lately. I am not sure they will stick around, but I hope this tool assists them in reconsidering leaving. I really enjoy the TR forum and in my opinion, it is one of the forums with the most fishing reports by guides who are on the water most days of the week. Please just ignore the trolls and keep the friendly respectable forum going. Tim Carpenter
FishinCricket Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Thanks for posting this for those who simply cannot contain themselves. I have been a member of forums since being a "troll" was a good thing (a looooong time in forum years) and I must say this: I have ALWAYS been able to ignore aggrivating posts without having to put the poster on ignore. We are all adults here, and all of us are here to discuss a topic we are passionate about. Let's have fun, discuss and debate, while still being civil. I readily recognize the handles of posters that I disagree with, but still being able to see their posts helps gve me insight into their thought process. Life is about learning, and ignoring ANYTHING has never once taught anyone anything.. Has it? cricket.c21.com
fishinwrench Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 So, stay PC, either agree or keep quiet..... or risk being iggy'd So much for that comfortable, ok to be yourself, fishing buddy atmosphere illusion I had.
