Micheal Kyle
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind words and their support for the shop. Fishhand I, for one, run a clean shop that is very knowledgeable about the local area and several destinations. I am sure there are people out there that do not like me or like our shop. I learned a long time ago that retail is a very brutal sport it used to bother me a lot when someone was not happy. Now I just let it slide of my back all I can do is put 110% into trying to make people happy sometimes they are sometimes they are not. I know that I tried though. I would like to know what you think of every other contest put on out there by any other shop or organization. Let it be hunting or fishing and any type of fishing. The reason I opened it up to any type of fishing is because not everyone fly fishers for the big guys, plus I know a lot of mothers and fathers that do not have the funds or the patients to fly fish with kids. What a wonderful thing if a Child caught the big fish for the year. What a memory for life. Let’s say a big buck contest put on by a local hunting shop. B.A.S.S., FLW, Heartland, they have a fishing contest every weekend. M.T.F.A. trout Derby at Bennett Spring State park. Lilley's master trout tournament Lots of mom and pop shops sponsor all the above events and those are just the tip of the ice berg. I for one hope that this brings more people to the area and that all shops will benefit from this. I am the one that has spent the money to get the prizes. Unfortunately, you say that we are exploiting our resource if you really want to get down to the nitty gritty about this every mom and pop to the big box store and even the guides are exploiting the resources because without the resource there would be no reason for to be in business. I wish you all luck in this contest have a great time catching fish. Michael To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
FishinCricket
You are running a for-profit business. When fishand announces his not for profit fly shop and refuses to make money or sell fishing equipment to people based upon their style of fishing and/or fishing ethic (I can only imagine that potential purchase/interview), then I will give him some small props. But he would refuse me service anyway, lol... cricket.c21.com
Greg
I'm glad you didn't let the negative post sway you from the tournament Michael. It's a great idea. Blasting a catch and release "on your honor" tournament??? From a lake where all the fish are stocked (and stocked by the thousands)?? Good grief what's next?? laker67
I honestly don't care how a person cathces a fish...bait, plug or fly. , I can see guys down in the chutes snagging fish just for the chance at winning a reel. Take it however you will. I'll tell you how I "take it". I take it with offense. OAF members, owners, and the sponsor of this tournament are some of the finest sportsmen and fishermen that my homestate of Missouri has to offer. crazy4fishin
We just happened to find Back Country by accident when we were in Springfield last weekend.....I have to say it is a great place! We talked to the Elder of the family and it was a great conversation. I am not sure I could fly fish if I paid someone to cast for me but I love to catch Trout and these guys know thier stuf.....thanks for all that you do! Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 13, 2009 Root Admin Share Posted September 13, 2009 This is a very simple situation, one which arises more and more often on the forum... If you have a beef with someone, send him a PM. Keep it off the forum. It takes more guts to take it to someone personally cause it's one-to-one. Come on guys... quite posting stuff you know will start a fight. Yes you can disagree and post your disagreement but do it in a respectful way or don't do it at all. If something REALLY ticks you off, send a PM.
