you guys have a point, but if we start using genetics as a part of the record process, anytime a record breaking fish is caught you'll have to weigh it and then send in a DNA sample. And what about cases like Texas where they have that large fish breeding program crossing big bass with one another? What if the next WR bass comes from offspring produced by that program, does it count? Just food for thought..

Wow ..... Apparently these triploids are big business and gaining in popularity. Apparently Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, and several of the Canadian Provinces have active triploid stocking programs. PC

Cheers. PC

I actually worked for the Utah DNR, so I can input a little bit about the stocking in the western states. They are not stocked because of their high growth rates. The reason triploid trout are stocked in states in the west is that they are sterile. That way if they do escape into other bodies of water they can't completely wipe out native populations of trout.

That is unreal. Can you imagine hooking into a fish like with a 5wt rod? No chance. But that is amazing, even cooler is the they're brothers and young guys at that...

Chance... Rip Collins caught the 41-4 trout on a 4 lb ultralight...

I knew that Terry...but that fish just looks freakish compared to Rip's brown. You know what I mean?

Congrats to Sean Konrad! That is one heck of a fish regardless of its origin. I would not be opposed to triploid rainbow in taney. Since missouri has the midget strain of rainbows, it might put taney back on the map. The browns can take care of themselves because of their wariness. But I think our rainbows should be ramped up a bit. If any of you get the chance, check out "fly fish arkansas", John Wilson's website. Those boys seem to be a little bitter about losing the record to Michigan.

All I can say is my standards rose twice in one week

Triploid or not, that's a great fish.

I say congrats to both new world record holders. Pretty amazing fish.
