Buzz Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Gee Bill, I guess your just gonna have to get yersef some of them fancy Zebco 33"s and some of them Ugly Sticks if you wanna be a real guide. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

DaddyO Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Bill, You have more patience than I do. I would've turned the boat around and dropped the guys off and said thanks but no thanks. Spend your money somewhere else. Or...... Be prepared for next time.... Go by some of those Eagle Claw Rods equipped with Zebco 33's for the next customers like those. Congrats on 3500th trip. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 15, 2009 Root Admin Posted October 15, 2009 My thoughts exactly. And I don't have a dog!
ColdWaterFshr Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 It was me, Paul Dallas, the one that had dog-poo on his boot. Jesus, can't we get a decent Zebco on this boat?
denjac Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 And I don't have a dog! Traveling salesman pulls up in front of a farmers house. Big dog in the yard. He yells to the farmer from the car. Does your dog bite. The farmer yell back NO. He gets out of the car and the dog mauls him. He says I thought you said your dog did'nt bite! Farmer says thats not my dog! Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. bigredbirdfan Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Did you recommend that they fish with Phil next time ? Or better yet "Looks like you guys really have the hang of this, I think you should go buy your own rods and reels at Lilley's and take one of his boats out on your own. I would love to see that mess on the water.
Gatorjet Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Very funny story Bill, you DO need to write an book! I'm wondering if this type of client is common in your business. Guys that just want to catch fish, and not realize the value of learning from a talented and experienced fisherman. When I hire a guide it is to learn how to fish a new lake. How to find my own places to fish, and how to fish them. Not to go to his places and load the boat with fish. Success to me isn't judged by weight or numbers, it's judged by the experiences I have. Too bad in today's world a good fishing trip has to mean catching a limit, and good hunting trip has to end with a trophy on the wall. A lot of people would have a much more enjoyable life by following the advice from the Robin Williams movie, Dead Poet's Society. Carpe Diem, sieze the day! Real men go propless!
Wayne SW/MO Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Good read Bill. A book "How to fish the Rock" would probably be a best seller. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
