Members johnnymiller Posted October 28, 2009 Members Posted October 28, 2009 I think there is only one way you should be allowed to do what you are speaking of doing......... You must fish from the bank opposite the chutes and be able to cast all the way across and snag on of the chute fishermen foul hook them and then proceed to bring them to your side. Upon completing that task you may then catch a brown......
laker67 Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 oh yeah, can a guy catch a couple of zzzzzzzzzzs in his truck if need be in the parking lot there? The branson police do patrol the area, and everyone who night fishes is pleased they do. We always thank them when they stop to visit. I have napped in my vehicle for the past 34 years. Stay in the main parking area and you won't have any problems with vandals or partiers. If the police check you out, they will run your plates and maybe ask to see your operators permit. Thank them for keeping tabs on the area and say you are catching a short nap and returning to fishing soon. I have never been asked to leave.
brownieman Posted October 29, 2009 Author Posted October 29, 2009 Thanks laker, Kinda the same applies behind Truman Dam. Takes some balls but have had buddies have stuff get stolen from their truck beds while their in the cab sleepin. darn thieves and locks just keep the honest people out. later on My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Members bigbeefybrown Posted October 29, 2009 Members Posted October 29, 2009 I agree with gator... As long as you're fishing legal nobody has the right to say anything and if they do it just proves that they are dicks... I am exclusivley a flyfisherman but appreciate seeing all fisherman being successful regardless of tackle as long as its legal... People should be more concerned keeping their own rods bent and not judging those who don't do it "their way" MFU
Buzz Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 oh yeah, can a guy catch a couple of zzzzzzzzzzs in his truck if need be in the parking lot there? Just be sure you don't leave any banana's on your dash. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Members gary2400 Posted October 29, 2009 Members Posted October 29, 2009 I catch an hour or two nap in the truck when the bite slows down or I just want a break. I am very pleased that the police patrol the area. Never had a problem except for wondering (I really do know why) why there are people parked there without fishing gear. I've even had them get out as I was gearing up and ask how the fishing was...as if they were fishing too...ha. It's easy to see who is there for fishing and who is not. I figure I've been down there enough that the police probably know the truck by now. I like to park up by #1 but if I want a few zzzzz's I move down to #2. Too dark up there...the squid and beaver might attack!
brownieman Posted October 29, 2009 Author Posted October 29, 2009 Just be sure you don't leave any banana's on your dash. I'll generally eat my bananas before I get there...road trip snack, ya know, lol. later on My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
2sheds Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Setting the legal issue aside, your original question was " ... would all the local fly fisherman bad mouth me and run me off ... ?" From these responses, I guess the answer is no, not all of them. But I am surprised that someone hasn't commented on the trout mortality issues associated with intentionally foul hooking a lovely fish that might break loose before you got it back to the bank. I would think that hefty scars along the back are not a good thing for the future lunker population. So I offer a contrary opinion that some of the more conservation minded Taney fishermen would not be very supportive (myself included). Best Regards, -Two Sheds
brownieman Posted November 2, 2009 Author Posted November 2, 2009 I would never intentionally foul hook a fish but unfortunately it does happen. Hooking , catching, landing, fighting, netting, et....all things considered which is the lesser of the evils? Bottom line there is no user friendly method of landing and releasing a trout, this applies to all species to a degree I guess, were havin a blast and their in a life or death battle. It doesn't help that trout have to be near the bottom of the list when it comes to fish that handle well and surprising to me a walleye, from my experience anyway, are not too touph either, by the looks of one I would have never thought it. Some of my best fights have come from foul hooked fish...especially if you've hooked em in the tail and remember before anyone jumps on me I DO NOT sight fish. At least us ethical fisheman don't clip their fins off...that's another horse we can beat up again sometime on a miserable winter day, lol. Someone else will have to remember it though...aint enouph ginko on this planet, lol. later on thanks for the words of wisdom from you guys...Lord knows I need all the help I can get My friends say I'm a douche bag ??
