I just got the word from my buddy Louis Shaw of Two Brothers Canoe that they are finishing up the first batch of 16 footers.

I have the 14'3" Brightwater model and I can't say enough good things about this boat. It floats every bit as good as a Buffalo, Old Towne or Winonah and costs 1/3 less. Not to mention, you buy a Two Brothers canoe and you are investing your money in two hard working dudes from the Ozarks that are trying to make a go at the American dream!

Check out their website at http://www.twobrotherscanoe.com/

Thanks for checking them out!

Nice looking canoe...I think I'd prefer it to the shorter one. I wonder why they designed it with so much rocker, though. That has to affect tracking ability. Still, I'd like to paddle one. The weight is okay, not great. What is the price--didn't see it on the website?

I like that, Kevin. Like Al said, the rocker would be the only thing that would turn me off. I always look to patronize local small businesses when I can, and I'll definitely consider a Two Brothers when it's time to get a new canoe. Just found out the wife's got our first poopy-pants bakin' in the oven, so it looks like I'll need a three-seater some time in the future. :)

Sweet !

When I spoke to Louis back in Sept. he said that the next one was going to have more rocker....but I had no idea.

At first glance it appears excessive.....but it may very well suprise me on the water. Should be very manueverable and quick to respond. And I love the shade of blue, looks nice.

sure looks like a buffalo? >>> it's listed on EBAY for $1000

Hey thanks to all for your comments and taking a peek at a good friends passion!

Yes, indeed, it has a lot of rocker to it. Four inches to be exact. More than most, until you get into the Mad River Whitewater Canoes.

A while back, Louis and I were sitting around the campfire and he mentioned to me that the boat he and his Brother were working on was going to be a "sports car", meaning that it would have great response, great speed and little water resistance. I found this exciting! How many times do you wish that you would've been able to make that quick upstream turn perfectly into an eddy that looked pretty fishy and your long, flat, boat just didn't want to submit?

Now, in order to make a boat like this slower to respond, you have to put more hull surface on the water.............add weight! This can be done in many creative ways:

1. Full cooler and gear placed at the bow.

2. Bring your 110lb Golden Retriever. (If you don't have one, I'll lone ya mine.)

3. Ask Flysmallie if he would like to go fishing...........that will give you all kinds of "hull to water" surface area!

Honestly guys, I'm not employed by Two Brothers. I'm not getting a commision. I am not being blackmailed by Louis Shaw or his Brother. I just know that these are great guys and they build a great product. I feel honored that not only do I own one of the first boats that they built, but a friend built it for me!

Thanks again.............oh, and congratulations Eric on the upcoming offspring!

Holy cow, that's a gargantuan retriever! You sure he's not part bear?

.............oh, and congratulations Eric on the upcoming offspring!

Thanks buddy! I'm buying up all the equipment I can in the meantime because I have a feeling the "toy fund" is gonna be history pretty soon. :bye:

You're in good company, Ronnie. ;) Nothing like a good body slam to shut up a mouthy skinny kid.

I think I'd be partial to the 14' model as well- I found one on Craigslist in Fayateville listed for $850 brand new but the posting expired. I sure like the look of it. If they would like someone to provide some Quality Control tests free of charge... shoot me a post :D

I mean 60lbs with a max weigh of 550 isn't too bad- I couldn't find the rocker on the 14' model anyone know what it is??

Looks nice, but its got a lot of rocker, and a pretty high bow..The one thing I dont like about my Wenonah Spirit II is that high bow. It causes a few problems when I solo it in strong wind.

Congrats Eric...get lots of fishing in now....cuz youll be doing less of it in the future;>)!

Cheers.
