patfish Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Yeah, kinda like those teens that promise not to have sex til they are married. If they never tell anyone it didn't happen. If the other party involved tells, they can just call them a liar. Good idea.
taxidermist Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Old fish and a fight are like old men and running, its going to kill them most likely.. Lactic acid in the muscles, soft weak heart. the fish did not get big by being a great athelete. and most of us would die if we had to run a mile as hard as we could and them be dragged..
fishinwrench Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Nice Wrench! Would you give him a ride, if he caught it in the morning and you were staying to fish the next 5 hours anyway? SIO3 LOL Absolutely. I'd even buy him dinner on the way home if his efforts actually paid off. Spoken by a guy that stayed up all nite nursing a Beta fish back to health in a cereal bowl after he was discovered half dead and dried out on the living room floor.
ozark trout fisher Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Geez OTF...You're the last guy I thought I'd have to explain it to. Read a little further, my friend. After fully reading through the thread, I must apologize for my last post. You took enough crap for this post already, and I didn't mean to be piling on. Honestly, I think a thread like this is not a good idea. There was no good way this thread could have turned out. Whoever started this must have known this was going to be a knock down drag out.

Whoever started this must have known this was going to be a knock down drag out. It didn't have to get nasty. They are only opinions and if they are treated as such, there wouldn't be a problem. I don't see why it's such a horrible thing to discuss angling philosophy. It's an aspect of the sport, and it's ridiculous that we can't have a conversation about it without people getting their panties all in a twist.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 11, 2009 Root Admin Posted December 11, 2009 I actually thought it was a good conversation. Pretty civil compared to other discussions. Didn't see anyone getting nasty or anything. And glorydaze got all his questions answered... that's a good thing.
GloryDaze Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 You know Phil, the one thing I didn't mention about all of this- the story in itself is quite hilarious and I can only imagine the ups and downs everyone had while this whole thing played out- priceless I would imagine! New debate here- (sorry just can't resist) Would you have been more pissed if you would get this monster half way in the net and then the line breaks... then you spend the rest of your life wondering what might have been OR Land the thing, put it in a freezer, have someone accidentally throw it away never to be found and have to tell everyone you had the record but it's just not official??? I think the pain would be less in scenario #1 Follow me on Twitter @DazeGlory
KCRIVERRAT Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 My father-in-law caught a 17" crappie at the island where the Kings runs in (Table Rock). He caught it on a minnow. Not a fake one... a real live minnow! Should I say "God forbid!"? I think not... His fish was not a state record, unlike Scott's. But if his crappie was a record, would we be having this conversation on a predominantly trout forum? Anyway, I love this forum... you guys are full of #1... gumption, and #2... info! I think the pain would be less in scenario #1 I'd go with number 1 also. You don't miss what you never had, plus he might live to fight another day. I hear they're tough to catch in dumpsters.
